Muddy Roots will be taking over the Grand Ole Opry House on May 15th for the finale of their 2016 Nashville Boogie Vintage Weekender, and the one and only Chris Isaak will be headlining the evening. The performance will be part of the larger 4-day event being held at the Opryland Hotel and Resort. Other names playing throughout the weekend include The Reverend Horton Heat, The Blasters, Wanda Jackson, Pokey LaFarge, Dale Watson, Unknown Hinson, Rosie Flores, and Deke Dickerson (find the full lineup below).

“I’ve brought the Muddy Roots ethos indoors for the Nashville Boogie Vintage Weekender by blending so many styles of music not typically paired together but are natural cousins,” says promoter Jason Galaz. “We have everything from traditional rockabilly, classic country to western swing. We also lend a hand to up and coming acts to pull them in to the bigger pools and have a handful of legends. Wanda Jackson, the queen of rockabilly has been rocking since the 1950’s and will be performing for us. Also Louise Rowe and Her Texan Playboys is driving up from Texas to perform. She was the only full time female member of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys. Any chance to pay respects to the elders we will take it. The fact that these are pioneering women in the music industry is even more special to us.”

Muddy Roots has put on an annual outdoor festival in Cookeville, TN just east of Nashville for the last five years, as well as other retreats and local shows. They recently partnered with the Nashville Palace on the Opry side of Nashville to promote shows at the venue, including Riders in the Sky December 12th, and Del McCoury December 19th. Most of the Muddy Roots lineups mix musicians of today with living legends of yesteryear.

“We have original 1950’s era Sun Records artists Alton & Jimmy coming up from Mississippi to play,” explains Galaz. “Also Billy Harlan who along with his own classic rockabilly hit ‘I Wanna Bop’ was also known for years of session work with Chet Atkins at Historic RCA Studio B.”

Fans can attend the entire weekender or see Chris Isaak at the Opry House exclusively. Tickets for the Chris Isaak show go on sale December 11th, and tickets for the Vintage Weekender can be purchased here.

Isaak is currently promoting is most recent record First Comes The Night recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Dave Cobb.
