Elizabeth Cook is Back After Some Needed Time Off

Friends and fans of the firebrand Outlaw country throwback gypsy queen Elizabeth Cook were saddened to hear in late September that her dizzying amount of commitments which included touring full time, administrating a daily radio show on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, and countless other public and private obligations were starting to unravel the Florida native and she needed to take a sabbatical.

After coming off a stretch of Elizabeth losing both parents, recently going through a divorce, touring constantly and doing her radio show every day, the pressure of keeping up with everything has left her feeling beyond burnt out,” said the missive from Elizabeth Cook’s management. “Although it’s not in her nature to want to do so, she is reluctantly agreeing to hit the pause button and recalibrate in order to deal with the pressures of all that she does in the healthiest way possible.”

Subsequently Cook was forced to cancel numerous shows and take a leave of absence from her SiriusXM “Apron Strings” show. But Saving Country Music is happy to report Elizabeth is back happy and healthy, will be returning to the SiriusXM airwaves in her regular slot on January 5th, and has resumed performing, including commitments to play the American Songwriter 30th Anniversary Party at the City Winery in Nashville on January 8th, and the Cayamo Cruise January 17th to 24th.

How does Elizabeth Cook feel?

Like Evel Knievel. But feeling like Evel Knievel is what go me in trouble in the first place,” she tells Saving Country Music. I’m always gonna be the clumsy girl on an old dirt bike trying to jump school buses. Balance just ain’t my thing. But I try like a mofo…I come from a long line of people where its like if we don’t work, we die, and if we don’t laugh, we die. Symphonies just aren’t in my future, except for maybe like Valentines Day. I’m trying to ease in but its hard when you just went on a hunger strike for toast and couldn’t pee without counting to 88. It’s fantastic feeling to get back behind the wheel. I’m excited for the Sandy Beaches and Cayamo cruises. Parties on water are good for my nerves.”

Elizabeth said she pulled through her rough patch with the help of others.

“My village people posse of friends, family and professional team have all punched through this with me. I couldn’t have made it without them. It required a lot of patience. A stunning and humbling array of artists have reached out with doses of support and love. (I don’t wanna be an asshole and namedrop. I’ll save it for the book. There I plan to be a big asshole.) Reading comments from fans on my social sites has required more than one box of Kleenex, the kind with the lotion. I’m dingy and watching butterflies. I forget. And I know I can’t make promises. At the end of the day, I’m gonna do what I do because I owe it to the muse, but I don’t ever wanna let anybody down.”

And I’d like to thank the birdfeeders,” Elizabeth adds. “They have been essential.”

As for if fans can expect new music from Elizabeth or other new pursuits. “Yes but its gonna take me time and I’m gonna take it. The dirt’s still fresh and I don’t wanna spin out again.”

Elizabeth Cook’s Apron Strings radio show can be heard on SiriusXM Outlaw Country from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM weekdays. You can check for upcoming live performances HERE.
