EXCLUSIVE: Blake Shelton’s Reason(s) For Not Hosting the ACM’s Revealed
On Tuesday (12-15) it was officially revealed that Blake Shelton would no longer be co-hosting the ACM Awards with Luke Bryan. The ACM’s are scheduled to occur again next in April of 2016. It’s a position Shelton has held for many years. Blake will be replaced by the pilot of the drunken skies, Dierks Bentley. But the decision has left many wondering why Blake would pull out of such a prominent position, especially since he usually loves television face time.
Well as you all may know, Saving Country Music has moles buried deep throughout the mainstream country music industry, and has exclusively obtained the note Blake Shelton sent to the ACM executives explaining why he chose to vacate the hosting spot, and may be absent from the awards in 2016. It’s not one reason, it’s a “host” of reasons; ten of them to be exact. Below you can find the note obtained by Saving Country Music, and scheduled to be on prominent display in a future Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit on the singer.
The contents are quite shocking.
For those that can read Shelton’s chicken scratch:
1. Too busy banging that girl from No Doubt.
2. My enormous ego won’t fit in the overhead compartment for the plane ride to Vegas.
3. I couldn’t figure out a way to use the opportunity to take a public stab at Miranda like at the CMA’s.
4. Scheduling conflict. I have an appointment to have my enormous, painful, and extremely contagious mouth sores surgically addressed.
5. I heard some old farts who only want to listen to grandpa’s music will be there, and I don’t want to hang out with those jackasses.
6. The co-host is Luke Bryan. I mean, come on.
7. Don’t want to be publicly upstaged by Chris Stapleton again.
8. Raging hemorrhoids.
9. Afraid if I spend too much time on stage, people will realize I’m a middling talent with mild record sales who’s leveraged his position on a reality singing show to fool everyone into thinking I’m a top-level country franchise.
10. Like most everyone else, I know the ACM’s are a rigged, horse-traded, block-voted sham, so why bother?
. . . bitch

You know what Miranda had only been seen with one guy. But everyone knows she could have any man she wants. Unlike Blake and his old eoman literally. She is pushing 50 and talking about having Blakes baby. When she has 3 she does not take care of now. And her voice sounds like nails on a chalk board. She needs to mind her own business and leave Miranda alone

December 16, 2015 @ 12:41 pm
Trigger considers his sales to be disproportionate to his celebrity status and how famous/well-known he is. The predominant theory is that he doesn’t tour enough and is more focused on his public personality than his music. All valid points, but I think if you can sit on your arse and coach a dead-end reality show whilst sleepwalking through music, but still continue above-average album sales and a string of number 1 singles (not to mention having your face on every magazine at Walmart), who’s the real loser here?
Trigger
December 16, 2015 @ 2:47 pm
Blake Shelton won five CMA’s for Male Vocalist of the Year in a row, yet he doesn’t have the time for a major tour due to his commitments to The Voice, and he’s never really had a blockbuster album. The two per year season on The Voice killed Blake Shelton’s music career. He said so himself a few years back. I’m sure he’s getting paid a king’s ransom, but that has nothing to do with his impact on country music.

Obviously we’re looking at it differently. Normally I’d defer to your obvious expertise, but in my mind, maintaining a solid (if not necessarily revolutionary) run at a music career as an armchair artist is quite an achievement. Blake’s last 15 singles going back to 2010 have all hit number 1 at radio; isn’t that a record or something? His last few albums (save for his most recent last year) have all sold over a million copies in this age of streaming and stealing. You’re saying his career is sleepy and people don’t seem to realize it; I’m saying it’s damn impressive that a man with a sleepy career is still selling more albums and getting more big singles than every independent artist that releases masterpieces and is on caffeine. He’s sold almost 600,000 of his Christmas album from a few years back for Pete’s sake; that’s a testament to his star power, even if it’s not an accurate one if your theory is to be believed.
I’m not saying he won’t eventually get there, but for now I don’t think it’s completely safe to say that Shelton is just famous for being famous.

December 16, 2015 @ 4:39 pm
It’s technically a record but not in reality. I think he’s now at 15 but I believe it may be in the billboard or soundscan era (believe 91 is the cutoff date when a better and more dignified chart was created). Anyways Alabama had 21 straight it’s on their album “for the record” back in the 80’s helping them secure artists of the decade. I don’t know the technicality of it or how it’s official/unofficial or recognized. Alabama beat James brown if I remember correctly at the time in all of music with 18 straight. Try going into a forum or argue on Twitter that Blake doesn’t have the record, and his fans will try to verbally fight you. They don’t like to be corrected.
Trigger
December 16, 2015 @ 7:46 pm
I didn’t say he was famous for being famous. I said he was a 2nd tier star artificially embellished to look like a 1st tier star from being on The Voice, and I think the numbers bear that theory out. When Chris Stapleton has sold more records than you in 6 weeks than you did in 16 months, you don’t need to be sweeping Male Vocalist accolades for half a decade. And lo and behold, Stapelton won this time. As for the #1, that is some completely artificial. Those songs hit #1 for a week due to forced spins, and then they immediate take a precipitous fall. I’m not saying they’re all bad songs, but they did the same thing with George Strait for years. If you’re a major label male star and you release a single, it’s more than likely going to hit #1 these days, and then the next week it will be replaced by another major label male #1, and everybody gets #1 to promote on billboards.

How about Adam Levine? Does Maroon 5 still do major touring? Levine hasn’t seemed to have missed a beat as far as his musical career goes due to the Voice. I mean, I guess he lives in LA so there isn’t as much flying. The rest of the judges are part-timers (Christina), past their prime (Gwen), or mostly producers (Pharrell)
Blake’s success is undeniable, but also baffling. I think he figures that as long as he remains country music’s bridge to the mainstream, and as long as he’s seen rubbing elbows with the Hollywood crowd, the country music industry will have no choice but to take him seriously and treat him with massive respect. So, he just coasts as far as his music is concerned.

I’m afraid Trig couldn’t be more right on this one even though I love Blake. Its ridiculous and I bet he would put out great albums if it was his sole focus. By the way its $8 Mill a season…….

Ya know, one great thing about The Voice, is it does get people listening to classic country music and buying it on Itunes who would never otherwise. Its pretty cool. But one thing I hate about the show, is its inability to produce big stars. Might they have solid little careers anybody would love to have, ya. But they are not producing major mainstream artists who go on to big stages and shows. Much like the kid last night, great pipes, I don’t take that away from him at all. But he’s not gonna sell records. The Voice is all about the show’s experience itself, not creating superstars.
Justin

Idol is the one that creates stars although it hasn’t for a few years. But Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, etc are all famous because of idol.

That assessment is dead -on . I’ve spoken to this many times . The Voice ( Idol ….all of the contest shows ) won’t take anyone who doesn’t have a ” back story ” for people to buy into . For the show , a contestant who comes off as ” REAL ” and someone we THINK we can relate to is paramount to the human interest , soap-opera ( ‘ tune- in- weekly ‘ to see what’s happening with this person ‘) aspect of the show’s marketability . However for a career that hits the superstar bar , there needs to be a MYSTIQUE about a celebrity – there needs to be elements of their lives and careers we DON’T know about …dirt , skeltons , affairs etc.. that we get to ASSUME and surmise things about creating mythical connotations about their status as world -class ” artists” . As fans , we need to feel that they ARE , in fact , somehow different / greater/ more gifted and/or more deserving than the rest of us mere mortals whether its true or not . The VOICE excels at the opposite . The contestants , while mostly ALL gifted are also geeky , thin , heavy , pretty or not , tall or short , young …some older ..but any or all of them could be someone next door to you or a school mate or a waitress at your local watering hole . There is absolutely NO mystique left to them once they have interviewed , filmed them at home , filmed them being vulnerable , filmed them being less-than- perfect at rehearsals and shown them over and over as willing to be manipulated , molded and completely manufactured musically . THAT wears off way faster than mystique …….like about 5 minutes after the season is over and the next busload arrives. Elvis , Cher , Frank Sinatra , and most BIG TIME movie and music stars know how important mystique is in garnering and maintaining long term interest in their wares. By the time the reality contests are done with a person , there is nothing left to build mystique upon . Hence …no sustained interest , in most cases, and no long term career .
Finally …..no one likes someone who is seen to have been helped by money , family or a TV contest to become extremely successful . We all , however , LOVE to see someone who has ( apparently ) done it all by their own gifts , courage, stamina , vision and have the respect and adulation of their peers AND an industry because of that . I doubt that most of the winners on The Voice garner much respect from these camps due to the obvious in-authenticity of their success .

# 9 is hilarious because it’s so true. Blake owes much of his fame to his bizarre bro-mance with Adam Levine.
Blake was more annoying than usual on The Voice this year (My wife watches and I tag along). Basically, to hear him tell it, he is a champion for traditional country. I’m sure he can sell that to a crowd that doesn’t know any better, but I wanted to throw things at him through the TV.
What did people who watched think of the finalists? Emily Ann seems sweet, has a nice voice and seems to genuinely love traditional country, gospel and bluegrass. I didn’t see much in Barrett. Jordan was the front runner from day one. He’s got a good voice but I don’t think he will become a big star. He learned what everyone should know. If you want to win one of these things, big, dynamic, inspirational ballads are the way to go. I think Jeffrey Austin was probably the best of the bunch, could actually be a pop star and finished 4th.
The Voice is getting old for me, though. A lot of the season was spent hearing the judges gush over basically bad karaoke.
Ron
December 16, 2015 @ 3:28 pm
Like you, my wife watches it so I see it sometimes. I can only take it in small batches because during every show I want to throw something at Blake. What a phony. As you say, he always puts himself out there as the champion of traditional country. It drives me crazy.
As for the competitors, I don’t see any of them having a big career.

Childish, Immature and Disrespectful Post:
This web site has many things going for it but this childish, immature and disrespectful behaviour it commonly displays towards people is not one of them.
“Too busy banging that girl from No Doubt” – what are you, a 10 year old? What a disrespectful comment. And you have the nerve to criticise Florida Georgia Line for their demeaning lyrics towards women!
This is the kind of press I would expect from cheap tabloid news outlets. Very disappointing.

Blake is such a beauty. I don’t blame the guy, I would probably do the same thing. He’d obviously rather throw back a few miller lites with the boys instead of host some horseshit awards show. I bet he’s aware of the gongshow that country music has become.

#10 nails it for me. I can’t stand his new music. That “gonna” is one of the stupidest songs I’ve heard from him! I kinda like Neon light, because it’s lightheadted and funny. Boys Round here is old, and I miss his ballads.

Right? “Gonna” has a hard time forming a complete sentence. “It’s a damn right, hold you tight, baby I’m gonna”… What the hell is a damn right, hold you tight, baby I’m gonna? Also, Blake’s very own assessment of the song on Genius says that it’s a fun, lighthearted song about a guy who wants a girl, and quote, “won’t take no for an answer”
As if he doesn’t realize how rape-ish that sounds.

Seriously though, I’m kind of worred about Dierks hosting with Lukey Boy.

Dierks is universally liked and is a good choice depending on if he can play the part. He’s a nice guy who tries to get along with everyone. I’m not particularly excited to see him hanging out with Luke Bryan, but I’ll wait and see if it sours my opinion on him. I’m hoping it doesn’t.

I dont for one minute believe this young man would belittle Gwen by saying BANGING THAT GIRL FROM NO DOUBT. I think who ever released this garbage should be ashamed of themselves. The Voice is the best program on TV in my opinion. If he said these things or rather wrote them he needs to apologize FIRST to Gwen. I havent heard him ever be disresptful to anyone and he tried to keep his divorce private. Lets face it and I have said this many times. His personal life is none of our business. HOW WOULD YOU ALL FEEL IF PEOPLE WERE UP IN YOUR FACE WITH YOUR CRAP? Maybe hes tired of making music for a while needs some rest. The Voice has great talent in the judges. Adam n Blake take care of each other in private. Once again none of OUR business. I find this all nonsense and Im hoping he didnt write the note that was published by the media or if its true ACM had no right releasing it. To many haters out there. I wish Blake happiness in hoping he has the right girl to love him. But please if this is true than Im sorry to hear hes so unhappy. By the way I watch the Voice because of the talent. This last show was a hard one to pick a winner. All were great. Its a tight group n I respect everyone on there.
