Hank III to Play Free Shows at Layla’s

Hank IIIHelldorado of hank3.com has announced that Hank Williams III will be playing a series of free concerts at the legendary Layla’s Bluegrass Inn on Broadway in Nashville at the end of the year.

Layla’s is one of the last true honky-tonks on Nashville’s music row, and Hank III is one of a very small stable of artists who can regularly sell out much larger venues, but is willing to play solely for tips. The dates announced so far are December 16th, 23rd, and 30th, and January 6th, and 13th.

Hank III, who is playing today (Oct. 10th) at the Country Music Hall of Fame, played a long series of shows at Layla’s in late 2008, early 2009 after taking a long break from the road to rest his voice, record, and retool his band. The Wednesday nights became legendary, with Hank III playing extra-long country sets well in to the night, and people like Tonya Watts, Jesco White, and even Hank III’s mom stopping by.

In my opinion, there would not be a better, more memorable place to see Hank III play than at one of these shows. And who knows who you might see there. Hell, my mug might even make an appearance. Get there early, it’s first come, standing room only.
