Hayes Carll Signs with Thirty Tigers / New Album Coming

hayes-carllDistribution and publishing company Thirty Tigers has signed critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Hayes Carll to work on a new album this fall, with hopes for an early 2015 release. Carll’s last album KMAG YOYO was released in February of 2011 through Lost Highway Records, as was his 2008 release Trouble in Mind. Both albums won him critical praise and solid commercial success, and Carll is now considered one of the mainstays of country/Americana touring channels, playing an average of 200 shows a year.

Thirty Tigers is unique in the record label business in letting artists own their own imprints with which to publish their own music. Hayes Carll’s Highway 87 will be the name under which the Houston native will release his first album in four years. Other notable Thirty Tigers artists include Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Ryan Bingham, Elizabeth Cook, and Trampled By Turtles. Hayes Carll adds another high caliber name to a company who is setting the new paradigm in music labels—one that fosters artists keeping control of their own music.

“Hayes is the rare artist that can make you laugh out loud, break your heart or turn a phrase that makes you shake your head in utter joy,” says Thirty Tigers President David Macias. “We feel proud that we get to go fight for him.”

Carll’s manager says, “Thirty Tigers is a great fit for Hayes. Their business model allows him to maintain control of his music. And, he has many deep relationships within the company that go all the way back to his first album.”

  • Glad to hear he’s finally putting together a new album, especially on a label that stands behind the artist. I’ve seen him 6-7 times and he always puts on a great show and always is willing to meet and greet fans afterwards. If you havent seen him live, yall are missing out

  • Talk about a great roster of talent!! I would like to buy the owner of that label a few beers and pat on the back. I can’t wait to hear the new album.

  • Excited new music is coming from Hayes one of my favorites. He really is solid live be it full band or unpluigged he brings it everytime I’ve seen him. Thrity Tigers is obviously doing things right you can’t say that abount many labels.

  • loL I just got done listening to him and thought when the hell is he coming out with a new one, then get on here and see this. You rule Trigger!

  • I was really hoping he would have something out by the end of this year. Wonder just how many songs he has written for this record given the long time since his last release.

  • Was really hoping for a new album this year, but at least having some news is great. Something to look forward to in 2015 already.

I’m seeing him live next week, so maybe there will be some new songs played.

  • We sure love him up here in Manitoba, Canada. Our own Scott Nolan has written songs with him, and we love having that Texas connection.

  • Huge fan as well, and stoked about the new album – I just realized he had come through my area and I didn’t see / hear anything about it until after it was over, DAMNIT !!!

It seems like it was much less promoted that his prior concerts / shows that I’ve seen in the (same) area….does 30 Tigers now handle the booking / publicity as well?

I have never (& hopefully will never again!) missed one of his shows that’s semi-close to me, and think it’s odd that it was not promoted better / more…regardless I have recently been listening to some of his earlier albums (which I fucking love) and have regularly been wondering if & if so, when, he would be coming out with some new songs!!!

  • first I’ve heard of him,

he has great song titles, “one bed two girls three bottles of wine” or “she left me for Jesus”

    for instance.

the tune “drunken poets dream” on youtube…. great tune.

once again, thanks for the intro.

    • Always great to be introduced to a new artists via this site…it’s how I discovered Jason Isbell.

Hope you enjoy Hayes’ music…he’s got a really unique and original sound.

  • Hayes is wonderful. Happy to hear. Thanks.
