John Moreland to Release New Album “Big Bad Luv”

Top-shelf, critically-lauded, and peer-approved songwriter John Moreland will release his fourth solo album on May 5th called Big Bad Luv via 4AD Records. Heartbreakingly-honest and stripped down, John Moreland has quickly become one of the most respected songwriters and performers in the independent country and Americana realm with the raw approach to his music, regularly taking center stage all by himself with just a guitar and hushing big audiences with the sincerity of his songs.

Big Bad Luv promises to be a shift in John Moreland’s focus. Where before you could expect some of the most tear-soaked material you could hear in all of roots music, the new album is said to be more sentimental. This should not come as a shock to Moreland fans since he was recently married, and has seen a shift in his personal life. Songs like “Ain’t We Gold” and “It Don’t Suit Me (Like Before)” are said to symbolize Moreland’s change in attitude, but are still served with an emotionally dark tone. Moreland says he uses his music to exorcise negative feelings and move on.

Moreland will embark on a tour this summer after the release of the record, and for the first time will include an accompaniment on stage, multi-instrumentalist John Calvin Abney.
