30 Rock Goes Country & Garth Goes Vegas

30 Rock Goes CountryI really cherish the few opportunities I have writing this thing to laugh a little, and today is one of those days. They say all good humor is rooted in truth, and what is more true than the joke that is actors and 80’s pop stars slipping on a pair of boots to “Go Country” in a transparent attempt to revitalize a dying career.

Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks this is funny, this idea has gone mainstream. This season’s premier episode of the NBC sitcom “30 Rock” has one of the main characters “Go Country” as a publicity stunt to draw in more “middle America” viewers.

Not only is their take on “Going Country” spot on, but their portrayal of the shameless behind-the-scenes people whoring themselves to demographics and pandering to stereotypes is spot on as well. And in a brilliant move of self-deprecation on NBC’s part, they even have the “Gone Country” starlet perform a sports promo, similar to the ridiculously overproduced Faith Hill folly at the beginning of Sunday Night Football.

And speaking of “shameless,” (the name of one of Garth’s big hits, keep up people.) the shameless one himself Garth Brooks has officially announced that he will be coming out of retirement and starting a five year weekend residency at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas. Can’t say I’m surprised.

Savingcountrymusic.com has learned from a reliable source that the show finale will include Garth riding out on stage on two white tigers, while Celine Dion and Cher juggle flaming torches. Then the stage with fill with hundreds of Elvis impersonators fighting each other with Roman candles, while Garth is hoisted hundreds of feet above the audience on wires and fireworks shoot out from his crotch.

Now if that ain’t country, I’ll kiss your ass.
