84 New Artists Added to Already-Stacked AmericanaFest Lineup
The Americana Music Association has just announced an additional 84 names of showcasing artists who will be gracing stages all around Nashville September 12th-17th for the 2017 AmericanaFest, adding to an already-stacked poster of names now swelling to 187 participants, and expected to reach close to 300 eventually. This is already more artists than were announced last year at this time, and speaks to the continued influx of interest in the event due to the rising stars in the independent roots industry.
Once again it appears Texas music will be well-represented in this year’s lineup, with Dalton Domino, Flatland Cavalry, Cody Canada and the Departed, Kaitlin Butts, and others added to a strong contingent of Texas representation. East Nashville now also has some of its strongest rising names in the ranks as well with J.P. Harris and Joshua Hedley—who was recently signed to Third Man Records—making the 2nd round of announcements.
This is on top of the headline-level acts just added to the lineup like Drive-By Truckers, Lori McKenna, The Mavericks, North Mississippi All Stars, and many more.
The centerpiece of AmericanaFest will be the Americana Music Awards, which will happen Wednesday, September 13th at the Ryman Auditorium. The nominees for the awards were announced on May 9th. The reclusive Van Morrison will also be a part of the festivities, accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as performing at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater.
Festival Wristbands start at $75 and can be PURCHASED HERE.

Why? Haven’t you heard? Texas music sucks…

Proud to have 2 Muddy Roots Records bands on there! Woody Pines & The Tillers have been invited to play.

The only reluctance I have attending is the midnight shows and standing in line. Maybe I just have to take a leap of faith and attend to find out. Great lineup for sure.

There will be some midnight shows, and possibly even shows starting after that for unofficial stuff. But last year I never had to wait in a line. There was one event held at the smallish SiriusXM theater that’s on top of the Bridgestone Arena that I was unable to get into because I showed up late, but aside from that, the event is diffused among so many venues, lines are really not an issue.

Yeah, the only show that I saw anyone turned away from was Dwight Yoakum’s at…it was either the Mercy Lounge or the High Watt? Either way, it’s inside the Cannery Building, and a little birdie told me that they were expecting turn away traffic for that one, so I left the Cedric Burnside Project show a few minutes early (it was also at either the ML or HW; they’re literally down a hallway from one another) to slide in.
Were midnight shows the last ones officially scheduled last year? I could have sworn the schedule had 1:00am ones too…

Thanks for the reply great information . As you get older staying up very late and standing for long periods of time takes a lot of the fun away from some shows thanks again

It was close to 50,000 over the six days last year, which was a record.

That looks like quite a list. I want to check some of the unknowns out (to me) here on my lunch break but i’m afraid to do a google search for ‘Low Cut Connie’ on my work computer.

I went for the first time last year and it was extraordinary. I cannot wait for this year! Even if you can’t make it in to see the bigger names, you have a 9 out 10 chance of seeing or discovering a less-known amazing act.

It was definitely worth the 9 hour drive for me. I had a blast last year, and this year already includes several more of my favorites. Probably need to clone myself to attend several shows simultaneously.

Looking at the lineup is like looking at a crossword puzzle. I think I saw Deer Tick, but I can’t say for sure.
Does everyone play for 10 minutes?

More like 45 minute sets with shows starting each hour, if I remember correctly. I tried to stay at a venue for multiple sequential acts if possible. Lots of venues surrounding downtown and elsewhere.

DAMN that is a good line up. happy to see Boo Ray on there. He just got added yesterday. He’s an instagram buddy of mine and his brand of southern rock is very appealing to me. He’s out of east Nashville and does shit his own way. (had to talk him up a bit. he’s a good dude.) wish i could make it to the festival! work gets in the way a lot more than it should but i’m a broke 32 year old barber. hahaha to all who attend, first, i’m jealous. second, i am super stoked for all of you people who will be at this event! have a good time, everyone! ?

Have fun everybody.
