Alan Jackson Announces 2020 Tour
Country Music Hall of Famer Alan Jackson has announced that he will be touring extensively in 2020, and has announced the initial round of dates, with more dates to come. The new tour dates include a previously-announced appearance at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California on April 26th, as well as Alan Jackson’s first show in Nashville in 3 years at the Bridgestone Arena on August 7th.
Though we don’t have a list of openers yet, the Alan Jackson camp has confirmed that once again they will pick the openers from the crop of regular performers at AJ’s Good Time Bar on Lower Broadway in Nashville. In 2019, Alan Jackson not only toured with William Michael Morgan and Randy Houser as openers, he selected Jay Bragg, James Carothers, and Amanda Daughtry from the AJ’s Good Time Bar rotation to take out on tour, and then put a list of additional names up for the public to vote on for the remaining slots. This gave some big opportunities to up-and-coming artists.
Though Alan Jackson fans will be happy to see a new set of tour dates, we still don’t have an answer about when a new album might be coming from the Georgia native. Unfortunately, no new information has been provided on that front. Jackson released a new song “The Older I Get” in 2017 ahead of his Hall of Fame induction, but we haven’t heard anything else about new music since. His last record was Angels & Alcohol released in 2015. Alan Jackson has sold an astounding 60 million records worldwide, recorded thirty-five #1 hits, has had fifty Top 10 hits, has earned two Grammy Awards, and 16 Country Music Association Awards including Entertainer of the Year in 1995, 2002, and 2003.
Alan Jackson played a total of 17 concert dates in 2019 and has announced 18 for 2020 so far. But don’t fret if there isn’t a concert near you yet. They’re saying more dates will be coming.

With more extensive touring in 2020, one could only hope this might mean a new album. He puts on a great show and even throws in some cool intimate sit down moments on how he wrote some of his biggest songs. The guy is a legend, in every sense of the word!

They’re saying these are just the initial dates, meaning that more could be coming. Then again, I think they said that last year, and we never got more than the initial 17.

One of the greats. Does he tour with Brent Mason?

Ha. Hello fellow guitar nerd. Brent Mason is an absolute monster. That was my first thought also but, while i don’t follow Mr. Jackson and I’m not backing this with any facts, I suspect he does not. I always got the impression that Brent became a studio master so he wouldn’t have to tour. I think you can still catch his solo act in smaller venues in Nashville occasionally (which is amazing) but, I think he stays pretty close to the house. I think he has a website with his upcoming shows posted. Could be wrong but, I’d also suspect that his studio demand would make hiring him in a touring band cost prohibitive. If not, it certainly should. He’s got a little of that Danny Gatton gene where, contrary to someone like Guthrie, Brent’s best explanation of some impossibly tasty thing he’s doing is “you just do this” (followed by impossible lick). I love those guys as nothing makes it more apparent they’re aliens than being so great yet, having never really put much thought into exactly why they’re better than mere mortals. My favorite is when they ask whoever is filming them what mode they’re playing. Truly an anomaly in the world of guitar players that is entirely under appreciated. I’m due to go see him again. Think I’ll go find that website.

Come to PA, Alan!
And please release a new album! Angels and Alcohol was incredible but it has been nearly five years! I need some new Alan Jackson songs especially since the Turnpike Troubadours and Josh Turner are MIA.

I think Weldon Henson would be an awesome opener. He’s a great up and comer that doesn’t get enough attention. His Texas made Honky Tonk would be a great fit!
