Beyond her efforts as a solo performer, recording artists, and in the country music supergroup the Pistol Annies, Ashley Monroe is also a respected and accomplished songwriter, penning or co-penning tunes for Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Dwight Yoakam, Norah Jones, Gene Watson & Rhonda Vincent, The Oakridge Boys, Butch Walker, and Guy Clark among others. Her songwriting catalog includes a #1 for Miranda Lambert in the form of 2011’s “Heart Like Mine,” and Jason Aldean’s surprisingly-good “The Truth” from 2009.
Now Monroe’s efforts are being rewarded with a new worldwide publishing deal with Dave Cobb’s Low Country Sound and Warner/Chappell Music. This will give Monroe renewed attention for her songwriting prowess moving forward. “I’m so happy to be starting a fresh chapter of my songwriting career with a team of champions surrounding me,” Monroe says about the deal. “I’m more inspired and on fire more than ever and ready to ignite big dreams.”
Like many country music performers, Ashley Monroe began as a songwriter first, and it became the avenue to signing a major label deal. Miranda Lambert was inspired to start the Pistol Annies with Monroe and Angaleena Presley to highlight the two songwriters who she felt were flying under-the-radar.
“Ashley is one of the most respected and celebrated figures in Nashville who I’ve had the honor to work with,” says Dave Cobb of Low Country Sound, who also produced Monroe’s last record, Sparrow. “Her talent is astounding, and we’re thrilled to count her among our unparalleled songwriting community, especially as she embarks on this next stage in her career.”
Ben Vaughn, President & CEO of Warner/Chappell Nashville adds, “There’s a reason Ashley has had so much success all these years on Music Row. Her ability to be both honest and vulnerable, while bringing warmth and wit to her songwriting, demonstrates the mastery of her craft. We are excited to welcome her to the Warner/Chappell family.”
