It saddens me to see a whole style of music crumble under the weight of fast money. It’s amazing when you look at the caliber of songwriting and recording today, compared to the way country music operated before 2000. I mean, writers like Bob McDill, Dave Loggins, Dewayne Blackwell and artists like Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Foster and Lloyd, Don Williams, George Jones..the reverence towards the older acts and the Grand Ol Opry..country radio with real DJ’s who didn’t sound like top 40 radio jerks like today. A whole style of music that once showcased artists based upon their merit rather than tits and ass and drunk, stupid redneck mentality. Songs had content and touched on various subjects rather than the same old “lets get drunk and fuck” themes of today. Artists had their own individual styles and sounds, so unlike today, where every artist played sounds like the previous. I love country music, the real country music that once appealed to all ages and not just a demographic of drunken fucked up redneck kids and their bimbo ladies. It all sucks now. terrible songs, shitty auto tunes singers who all sound alike. Who let this all happen? Sad, if you ask me.
