Billy Strings Tour Dates Selling Out Left and Right
Those who’ve been paying attention knew this was coming. It’s not just Tyler Childers, Cody Jinks, and other hot shot country artists turning the tables on Music Row. Billy Strings from the bluegrass realm is doing the same thing, and we’re seeing it reflected in the amount of sold out shows he’s posting for his upcoming winter/spring tour.
Billy has sold out 21 of his 26 upcoming club and theater dates, with the rest heading in that direction. The only other opportunities you’ll get to see Mr. Strings work his magic will be at the numerous festival stops he has planned this spring and summer. Keeping ticket prices low and putting a show on that Saving Country Music ranked as tied for the #1 Best Live Performance of 2019, you can see why folks are rushing to gobble up tickets.
“Billy Strings does things on the guitar that aren’t possible from a physical or theoretical standpoint,” Saving Country Music gushed at the time. “He’s like the psilocybin of music, taking you places you thought weren’t accessible in the conscious world, and all while making it look so effortless. Billy Strings is best musician you will witness live in our generation.”
This is one of those moments where we’re witness an artist blow up right before our very eyes. So whether you want to scarf up a ticket on the secondary market, see him at a festival, or trek to one of the few shows with tickets left, be on top of this, because it’s a good bet Billy Strings won’t be playing intimate settings for too much longer.

These aren’t small places either! He’s not merely selling out a small 200 person club or bar, it’s legit! (he is a native Michigander, I was bummed he sold out his show in Detroit so quickly since i didn’t move to get tix fast enough). He used to open for Greensky Bluegrass, another big bluegrass band based in Michigan.

Port Chester (pronounced PORT Chester), NY is in Westchester County about 15 miles north of The Bronx. So two sold out shows at The Capitol Theatre this week and another added for April and that is sold out? That’s 5,400 tickets! Shit.

That’s what ever state thinks of Ohio already. Le Bran James can’t make it a cool state no matter what his Stats are.
I have heard many Ohio shows from Panic and Other bands that are incredible above average. So Ohio gets good quality at least.

I think he was recently at the Beachland Ballroom near Cleveland. In November, I thought I had read.

Does he have a thing against Texas? Nothing in TX or OK… I’d love to go see him, but I’m not driving to New Orleans.

We feel the same about all the acts that stay in TX. Consider yourselves lucky.

I jumped online 20 minutes after his recent show in DC, for a 1,200 capacity venue, went on sale and the show was already sold out. Tickets were $30, face value, if I recall.
I checked stubhub afterward and resale was priced at $130 per ticket, right up until the day of the show. Suffice it to say, I wasn’t going to pay that. Sadly, missed the show.

Saw him in November on a Bday night out with my wife and another couple (who had no idea what they were going to).. He had two sold out shows back to back in Boston (700 capacity venue).
He was awesome. Played 2 sets. 2 1/2 hours. Sometimes you get worried that the jam bands start noodling and start being boring. Not the case with him. He was awesome. All four of us loved it. The new dates were announced and Boston sold out so fast I couldn’t even get tickets.. We are going to take a 3 hour ride or so to Port Chester, NY to see him.
I have seen a thousand of acts live over the years. Go to a lot of shows. Some of the most highly regarded musicians ever I’ve seen. He is world class on that guitar. Something special.
I just hope he don’t burn himself out.. If you follow him, he is honest about anxiety issues and personal feelings he deals with.

Used to go see Billy play at Little Bohemia in Traverse City any chance I could. It was obvious back then, that he would be moving on to much bigger and better things. It’s been a pleasure watching his career skyrocket from playing the small bars in Northern Michigan, to selling out large venues everywhere!

He is mapping his career very smart. By playing ‘relatively’ smaller venues when he certainly could play bigger ones is perfect use of supply and demand and creating a rabid fan base. All the sell outs lead to FOMO and by the time he starts playing bigger venues he’ll have enough people chomping at the bit and staged to swallow up up more tickets. In other words they exact opposite method of how the pump and push mainstream country artists.

Yes, this is the same strategy Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers worked like pros to great rewards.

Made the 3+ hour trip to Lexington yesterday with friends to see Billy for the first time. Already had his records but this was the first time seeing him live. Kyle, everything you said was true. Absolutely mind blowing musicianship.
