CMA-Winning Veteran Country Journalist Chuck Dauphin Hospitalized

Friends and family of veteran country music journalist Chuck Dauphin are asking for prayers as he works to recover from an injury after a fall, and remains hospitalized in critical care due to complications with diabetes. However the latest news is that he’s recovering, and is hopefully coming out of the worst of his health scare.

Dauphin fell and broke his arm just below his shoulder and was admitted to the Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN according to Sheila Tommy Vest, but the biggest issue became Dauphin’s kidney function due to his continuing fight with diabetes. This put Dauphin in a dangerous situation, and he was placed on dialysis and remains hospitalized.

Chuck Dauphin is a well-respected journalist and radio broadcaster, first starting his career in 1991. He’s well known for his work at Billboard as a 615 columnist where he began writing in 2011, and has also written for Rolling Stone, At Home Nashville, Roughstock, and most recently Sounds Like Nashville. Chuck has authored over 1,000 articles over his career. Originally from Burns, TN, he now lives in nearby Centerville and is a radio personality on local stations WNKX in Centerville, and WDKN in Dickson.

In 2014, Chuck Dauphin was awarded the CMA Media Achievement Award for his work with Billboard and other outlets.

According to friend Devin Pickard on Sunday afternoon, “He’s doing much better. He’s sitting up, and eating some and talking. The main issue issue is just his diabetes. He says he just let himself get out of hand a little bit. He is on dialysis right now, and his kidneys are functioning better. He says to tell you guys that he loves you. He’s just been overwhelmed by all the prayers and all the messages that have been sent.”
