Cody Jinks Shows Up to Support Steel Woods’ 1st Show Back

Country and Southern rock band The Steel Woods just made their first live appearance back after the tragic death of their guitarist and founding father Jason “Rowdy” Cope on January 16th, and one of the band’s closest friends was there to offer his support.

The Steel Woods played a socially distanced concert at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth on Thursday night (3-18) as part of the venue’s ongoing series of shows that has attracted the likes of Miranda Lambert, Dwight Yoakam, and Hank Williams Jr. to one of the few indoor venues that can facilitate crowds in a socially-distanced fashion. And Fort Worth native Cody Jinks was there to not just cheer them on and offer his support, but took the stage to sing the Merle Haggard classic, “Are The Good Times Really Over” with the band (see below).

Lead singer Wes Bayliss, bassist Johnny Stanton, and drummer Isaac Senty have chosen to continue forward with the blessing of Rowdy’s family and with what they believe would be Rowdy’s wishes. Guitarist Tyler Powers has been named as the replacement for Rowdy moving forward. Powers filled in previously for Rowdy when he took a break from the band in 2018, and is a Rowdy understudy.

“The show will go on and we will carry the torch for our brother, Rowdy,” The Steel Woods said on January 31st. “It’s been a few weeks since Rowdy left us peacefully in his sleep and we want to say thank you to everyone for the heartfelt messages and posts. It is comforting to know how much of an impact he made on so many lives. Thank you for sharing those experiences with us.”

The Steel Woods will be releasing their new album All Of Your Stones on May 14th—recorded while Rowdy was still alive and featuring many songs Rowdy wrote and co-wrote, including the title track written with Jamey Johnson and frontman Wes Bayliss. A new video for the song has just been released (see below).

The Steel Woods are set to perform Saturday night (3-19) at The Majestic in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
