Colter Wall Postpones September, October, November Tour Dates
Just a few days after announcing the openers, with the majority of the dates sold out, and a day before it was set to commence, Colter Wall announced Wednesday afternoon (9-8) that he is postponing his upcoming tour due to the uncertainty surrounding local restrictions and mandates around the United States due to surging COVID-19 numbers.
“In the last day, additional restrictions and city mandates have been announced in the majority of cities on the fall tour,” a statement reads. “After detailed consideration of these ever-shifting developments affecting live shows, the difficult decision has been made to reschedule all September, October and November tour dates. We very much appreciate everyone who bought a ticket and we did not come to this decision easily.”
This postpones all but three tour dates in December currently on the Colter Wall calendar. The tour was scheduled to commence on Thursday at the Roxian Theater in Pittsburgh, PA. “Rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as feasible,” the statement continues. “All tickets will be honored for rescheduled dates. The issuance of ticket refunds will take place at point of purchase. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
This also includes Colter Wall’s scheduled appearance at the Firefox Music Festival on September 24th in Ashland, Kentucky. However, his show at The Ryman Auditorium on December 10th, along with two other December tour dates appear to still be on, at least at the moment.

I’m way too rowdy to ever go to a Wall concert, so I don’t know his demographic. I’d say it’s probably 50/50. It would be ironic though if the bellyaching fans did shut down this tour.
Me: I’m 100% for vaccinations (and masks in closed public spaces) and feel it’s everyones patriotic duty to get it (otherwise you are an insurgent). An 80+ year old customer of mine told me “I was in the army and they jabbed me with vaccinations every other week and I never questioned it.”
So I don’t get the anti-vaccination crowd, but it’s ruining things for everyone (which I’m sure is the point).

The Federal Aviation Administration has the authority to implement safety requirements for commercial passengers, including proof of vaccination.

Have you heard of something called “capitalism,” sport?
Essentially, an artist can tell a venue “If you don’t check COVID certs at the door, I won’t play.”
Then, if the venue can decide whether they still want to acquire the performer’s services, with those conditions.
If they do, they can check COVID certs at the door.
If they don’t, they can cancel the concert.

First, in saying “If stupid people would mask up…” I would refer you to this quote from Dr. Fauci recently when he was interviewed by Jason Isbell:
“One of the things you got to be careful that we don’t do is to make them actually feel guilty, and sort of point your finger at them and say, ‘You’re crazy, you’re stupid’ or whatever. That just doesn’t work.”
Also, I don’t appreciate you reducing Colter Wall fans to simply being “drunk hillbillies.” Maybe they’re hard working folks who help make this country run, and want to go out on a weekend night and blow off some steam, and support an important independent artist in the process. Maybe they’re sober, and music is their escape, their alcohol.
I understand that this whole COVID things has all of us on edge. But I also believe that music is medicine. We must balance public safety with understanding that music can save lives as well. I respect Colter Wall’s decision to cancel his tour, for whatever reasons he chose to. But don’t think it comes without a cost. The venues that he sold out, the folks who work at the door, behind the bar, who clean the restrooms, now that’s one less night they’ll have to work, to make money to help sustain through an already trying time.
When will the current surge end? Will there be another surge, and another variant after this one? What is the end game? Celebrating the loss of fellowship through music, and the loss of revenue for many folks with the postponement of this tour is wrong-minded, even if you feel it is in the best interests of public safety.
I was never convinced of anything by anyone that started by calling me stupid, or a “drunk hillbilly.” So show some respect to people, and then perhaps they may entertain your point-of-view.

This isn’t actually up for debate, sport.
Israel’s vaccination completely leveled off between March and the start of boosters in July/August.
They’re at 62% – closer to Kentucky or Texas than Maryland, much less New England or Western and Northern Europe, which are all comfortably in the 70% range for first doses.
So yeah, they abandoned the green pass without having a high enough vaccination rate, because Netanyahu was desperate to win an election…and over the past few weeks, the Delta’s arrived and started sweeping through the unvaccinated population (comprised of children, morons, and those systemically denied healthcare access), leading to breakthrough cases as it became endemic.

Joe Rogan did not take horse pills. Nor have any other individuals who chose to take Ivermectin as a therapeutic prescribed by a doctor. Ivermectin has been in use in humans for years, and it’s developers won the Nobel Prize in 2015 for human use. It is not been cleared by the FDA as a drug for COVID-19. It has not been in any double blind placebo-controlled randomized controlled trials. It has been part of numerous smaller trials that seem to show some effectiveness against COVID-19.
Regardless of what you feel about Ivermectin, saying that anyone taking it is taking “horse dewormer,” and the fact that so much of the mainstream media has adopted this verfiably false narrative is the very reason for the skepticism of both the media and institutions in America, feeding things like vaccine hesitancy. If you’re a media institution and you say Joe Rogan took horse dewormer, you lied. You are spreading COVID misinformation. You are making matters worse. And it’s because it gives you some sense of comfort to think people who don’t think like you are stupid. It’s also directly feeding into the reason Joe Rogan is more popular than any other media personality at the moment.

The Jester attempted to spread misinformation by using “all-ages” as the measuring stick, because he knows these numbers are always discussed using “adults”. I haven’t looked up the current percentage of vaccinated adults in Israel, post booster mandate, and I mistakenly assumed that’s where the Jester’s 62% figure came from. But this doesn’t change anything else I said. They got to 85%, mandated boosters, which made the percentage go down. I won’t make the mistake again of assuming that The Jester is partaking in a discussion honestly.

This is why I want people to still wear masks I am scared and it just seems to me that alot of conservatives do not care if people die from covid. If they did they would take more precautions. I’m not vaccinated and I don’t plan on being. I had COVID and thought I was gonna die but I’m still not getting the vaccine. The difference between me and you is that I’m not out there calling people who get it stupid, idiot, or anything. They can do what they want. So can I. We should all go back to our normal lives because no matter what we do it’s never going away. By now every single person knows the risks involved with the vaccine, masks, and by choosing not to get the vaccine or wear a mask. When people know the risks, are allowed to make their own decisions, and can live our lives normal as we choose, that’s freedom. Not forcing masks and lockdowns and vaccines. Try to see it from someone else’s point of view and maybe you won’t be so quick to judge and call names.

I haven’t gone anywhere for research. The risk I’m not getting vaccinated is you can die from COVID. The risks in getting the vaccine are you could die or have a serious illness from the vaccine. And we have no idea the side effects years down the road. I’d rather take my chances with dying from the disease than from the cure.

I’ll just say that the likelihood of dying immediately after receiving the vaccine (being struck by lightning the next day counts in this number) is roughly one thousand times lower than dying after catching COVID…and adverse symptoms from the vaccine aren’t contagious, either, so the only risk is to yourself.

The odds of dying from COVID are just as small. I do know someone who died from the vaccine though. He was a well loved basketball coach in my town and a middle school teacher. He got the vaccine and two days later collapsed in front of his class and died on the way to the hospital. The diagnosis was complications from the vaccine. So we never know how we’ll react to anything

We’ve had about 370 million vaccinations in the US and roughly 7000 deaths in the immediate aftermath. I’m sorry that your friend was one of them.
We’ve only had 40 million confirmed COVID cases…but there have been about 653,000 deaths.
That’s a factor of 860.

When you post articles that are 7 or 10 paragraphs long, include multiple links to outside websites (including some that might be circumspect), the spam filter is going to immediately moderate these comments and consider them spam. I woke up to 56 new comments just on this article alone. I didn’t start this website to be a comment referee. Literally as you’re leaving your comments about complaining getting censored, I’m trying to get through comments that needed to be screened. Now that I have seen your three comments that are long-winded screeds with multiple links to websites I don’t have the time to vet, I have chosen to not post them because they are inappropriate to this forum. This is a country music website, not a political forum, not a medical forum, and you don’t have to answer for whatever gets posted here. I do.
I respect your opinion and encourage you to share it. But massive comments with paragraphs upon paragraphs and multiple outbound links completely off topic are not going to lend to a positive conversation here, and I would ask you and everyone else to understand the challenges I face trying to keep these comment sections healthy and productive, respect this forum, and stick to whatever topic is at hand.

A couple things:
1) If you think there weren’t problems in the comments sections previously, you should look at some of the early articles on Shooter Jennings. At one point, Shooter Jennings himself was perpetrating 13 different fake aliases in this comments section, literally trying to disrupt the site and undermine it, and take advantage of this open forum to destroy it.
2) The polarization we’re seeing is not just unique to these comments sections. It’s happening everywhere. These comments sections are just a reflection of it. It is the responsibility of all of us to try and keep these comments sections somewhat civil and legible. Otherwise it will hurt the mission of this site to help put good country music forward.

This is just going to keep happening. We could all grow up and follow science and end this. Or we could see all these musicians we claim to love go bankrupt and move on to doing something else to make a living. And we can see all of our favorite clubs close, because most of them won’t survive the next shutdown.

When artists cancel they don’t get paid. Venues don’t get paid so it would seem that all these folks need to get together and come up with a plan. The piecemeal thing is not working.
Personally on my show I will announce upcoming shows but always tell people to pay attention to the status of the show as the dates get closer.
