Country Hall of Fame Event Matches Musicians w/ Iconic Instruments

For over five months, since March 13th, the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville has been closed to the public due to COVID-19, putting the nonprofit institution in financial peril, including having to layoff some 70 employees, and furlough over 100 more in May—nearly half the staff.

Now the Hall of Fame has announced their reopen date of Thursday, September 10th when the public will be allowed to visit the Hall of Fame once again, in limited capacity, with all employees and guests required to wear masks and go through temperature checks, while the Hall will implement a more stringent cleaning schedule of the facility. All in-person events remain on hold for the moment.

Also as part of the reopening, the Hall of Fame is planning a special live streaming event on October 28th, and one they hope will be one of their biggest fundraisers ever, called “Big Night (At The Museum).”

The event will match up some of the most important instruments in this history of country music such as Mother Maybelle Carter’s Gibson L-5 guitar, Bill Monroe’s Gibson F-5 mandolin, the fiddle of Charlie Daniels, and the banjo of Earl Scruggs, with some of the most talented country music entertainers of today, including Hall of Fame members Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, and Reba McEntire, along with Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Rodney Crowell, Alison Brown, The War and Treaty, Tim McGraw, Keb Mo, Carlene Carter, Kane Brown (cough), and others.

The instruments come for the Hall of Fame’s “Precious Jewels” collection, which has assembled some of the iconic instruments in country music history. Also in the collection is Lester Flatt’s Martin D-28, the Martin 00-18 of Jimmie Rodgers, and the Martin D-28 of Hank Williams.

The presentation will stream on the Country Music Hall of Fame’s YouTube channel, and will be hosted by Hall of Fame-elect member Marty Stuart, with Dave Cobb as the audio supervisor. It will be free to view by the public, but donations will be encouraged. More participants and details will be announced ahead of the event.
