Daryle Singletary “Keepin’ It Country” Tribute Concert Announced

Those looking for a way to show their final respects and remember the legacy of Daryle Singletary will have their opportunity at a open-to-the-public and free tribute concert and memorial Tuesday, March 27th and the Country Music Mother Church in Nashville. The Ryman Auditorium will be hosting the “Keepin’ It Country” tribute show for the staunch traditionalist, who died unexpectedly at the age of 46 due to a health issue on February 12th.

Eddie Stubbs of WSM Radio will host the event. Scheduled to perform is Jamey Johnson, frequent duet partner Rhonda Vincent, Alison Krauss, Chris Young, Darryl Worley, Josh Turner, Andy Griggs, Mo Pitney, Pete Schlegel, Curtis Wright, Jeff and Sheri Easter, and “Peach Pickers” Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip. More names could be added closer to the event.

“He kept a light on for tradition-based music,” says Eddie Stubbs. “He found his audience, took care of them well and sang to them. He knew who he was and never forgot where he came from. He was the real deal, and his contributions and music will outlive us all on record and in the memories of his loved ones.”

Daryle Singletary became a popular country singer in the mid 90’s, earning three Top 5 hits with “I Let Her Lie,” “Too Much Fun,” and “Amen Kind Of Love.” Later into the 90’s and into the 2000’s as the radio hits stopped coming, Singletary became a perennial favorite of traditional country fans for holding onto his staunch traditional sound. Singletary is survived by his wife Holly, and four children: 7-year-old twin boys Mercer and Jonah, 5-year-old daughter Nora Caroline and 3-year-old daughter Charlotte Rose.

Two weeks before Daryle Singletary died, he performed at a similar tribute for the recently-passed Mel Tillis. Though the event is open and free, tickets still may need to be obtained, and seating may be limited. More information on tickets and potential broadcasts will be forthcoming when it is made available. A YouCaring campaign has been created to help pay for Singletary’s funeral expenses.
