Eric Church Is Getting Ready to Debut a New Single

The last time we heard new music from Eric Church, it was when he unexpectedly dropped Mr. Misunderstood by surprise on the same night of the 2015 CMA Awards, which was now over 2 1/2 years ago. Giving thousands of copies away to folks in his fan club, and stripping back his songs to just a few players worked out well for Church both commercially and creatively. The record won Album of the Year at the CMA Awards the next year, and eventually was Certified Gold by the RIAA. But it’s been well over a year since he released a single, and his fans have been getting antsy.

Now word is Eric Church is prepping a new song for radio and fans, and buzz from multiple radio sources has the new single arriving on Friday, July 13th. No word on a name, or if it will accompany the announcement of a new album or any other details. Right now those in-the-know are keeping the specifics close to the vest, but whatever it is, it will be much-anticipated by Eric Church’s devoted fans.

The news comes after it was revealed earlier this week that Eric Church’s younger brother Brandon passed away at the age of 36. According to Eric Church’s father, Brandon suffered multiple seizures, and died at his home in Granite Falls, North Carolina on Friday, June 29th. Brandon Church was also a songwriter, and co-wrote songs with Eric, including “How ‘Bout You” from the album Sinners Like Me, and “Without You Here” from Carolina.

“It is with great sadness to confirm that Eric’s brother, Brandon, passed away on Friday evening,” Eric Church said in a statement. “In lieu of flowers we are encouraging everyone to donate to a Scholarship Memorial Fund created on Brandon’s behalf.”

Eric Church is performing this weekend at the 3-day “Country Concert” in Fort Loramie, OH. He’s then off until playing Paso Robles, CA on July 21st.
