Jason Isbell Announces New Dates for Winter Tour
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit just started an incredible six-night sold out stint at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Monday (10-9), and after a tour in Europe this fall, Isbell & Co. will be hitting the road yet again as part of an extended winter tour stretching into 2018, with brand new dates just added. Isbell is pushing hard behind the release of his recent album The Nashville Sound, which has inexplicably found him nominated for the 2017 CMA Awards for Album of the Year, and a very likely candidate for Grammy nominations as 2018 approaches.
The new dates are mostly through the South, the Midwest, Texas and the East Coast, but Isbell will be playing the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California in April, so don’t be surprised to see some West Coast and interior West dates accompany that junket in the future.
Opening the dates for Isbell in Europe will be songwriter Tift Merrit, with James McMurtry signing up as the opener on the new winter tour dates. And if you are unable to make it to a date near you, Isbell’s Friday, October 13th show from the Ryman Auditorium will be broadcast to the masses via a live feed on his Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. The webcast will start at roughly 9:15 CDT.
Recently Jason Isbell had to reschedule some dates after a death in the family of his bass player Jimbo Hart.

I just hate the seated theaters. That’s where we saw him in 2016. Sleepy was the best word to describe the whole experience. Maybe I’ll check to see if any of these other venues in driving distance is GA.

Sleepy just because of the venue? I find most of his music to be a snoozer, and I like a lot of slow songwriter-type music. I can’t get with the program when it comes to Jason Isbell.

A combination of venue, audience (the guy next to me was snoring), and material. By the time he played Super 8 it sounded like the morning alarm going off. It was very cold that night, too. So there were jackets and scarves On everyones lap. I prefer GA venues were you can stand which helps get through some of the slower material.

While I’m happy for his success, the stingy me misses the small club shows we used to get. It’s amazing how far he has come.

I guess it shows what great taste we have. 😀
We saw Sturgill at Red Rocks and while it was tremendous, we said selfishly that we missed the days of The Shed and the Tabernacle.
Good for them.

RHODE ISLAND!!!!!! Too bad it’s at a theatre. Rather it be a club show but James McMurtry makes it a can’t miss show.

I don’t know why I didn’t listen to him sooner but I bought The Nashville Sound and ended up buying Southeastern and Something More Than Free soon after that. Such a great artist. So happy he’s coming to Buffalo at a perfect venue.

I’ve always enjoyed his live shows. Both seated and standing.
