Known and renown for his work with words and music, John Prine will introduce himself to a new medium when he releases his first book called Beyond Words on April 18th through his record label Oh Boy Records.

Not just a regular text-intensive literary work with recollections from the past, Beyond Words includes over 100 photographs from Prine’s own personal collection, sketches of handwritten lyrics showing how some of his most memorable songs evolved, notes on the songs and pictures from John, and lyrics and guitar chords from over 60 John Prine classics.

“I had been through all of the individual pieces and parts of the book, and the first time the book came back from the binders and it was an actual book that had the cover on it, I couldn’t get more than a fourth of the way through the book. It was too emotional,” Prine tells app.com. “When I finally saw it laid out, page after page, it just hit me like a ton of bricks.”

John Prine’s most recent album For Better, Or Worse became the 70-year-old’s highest-charting record of his career, coming in at #2 on Billboard’s Country Album’s charts between Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line. It is is a sequel to John Prine’s beloved 1999 album In Spite of Ourselves, and his first proper studio release in a decade. For the record, Prine recorded country standards with a female supporting cast including Iris DeMent, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Susan Tedeschi, Lee Ann Womack, Kathy Mattea, Holly Williams, Amanda Shires, and Morgane Stapleton.

John Prine’s Beyond Words is now available for pre-order.
