Kelsey Waldon’s New Album “I’ve Got A Way” Coming in August
If you’re rounding out a list of the current artists who are helping to save country music, you better damn well make sure Kelsey Waldon makes it on there or the whole enterprise is bunk. Her 2014 record The Goldmine was a badass collection of classic country tunes that had fans of traditional country singing her praise, and on August 12th she’ll be releasing a slew on new songs on her sophomore album I’ve Got a Way.
Produced by bass player Michael Rinne, the album features a bunch of new originals, as well as covers of Bill Monroe’s “Travelling Down This Lonesome Road” and the Vern Gosdin-penned “There Must Be a Someone” featured on The Byrd’s album Ballad of Easy Rider. And to wet your whistle, Waldon has release a debut single from the record called “All By Myself,” along with an accompanying video.
The video for “All By Myself” was partially shot in the curiously-named town of Monkey’s Eyebrow where Kelsey Waldon originally hails from, and certain scenes were shot on the land she grew up on. Waldon is also planning a summer and fall tour to coincide with the release, with the dates to be released very soon. Until then you can feast your dirty eyes on the track list and “All By Myself” video below.
I’ve Got a Way Track List:
1. “Dirty Old Town”
2. “All by Myself”
3. “You Can Have It”
4. “False King”
5. “Don’t Hurt the Ones (Who’ve Loved You the Most)”
6. “I’d Rather Go On”
7. “There Must Be a Someone”
8. “Let’s Pretend”
9. “Life Moves Slow”
10. “Travelin’ Down This Lonesome Road”
11. “The Heartbreak”

Yup . THAT’S country . Very unique vocal delivery by Kelsey …and unique is a damn good thing right now with so many sound-alikes . Track sounds like it was recorded by an actual band ….I mean not just real musicians but musicians who may work together as a band .

all joking aside…I’m looking forward to this one.

Can’t wait for the new album. The Goldmine was spectacular, and the advance listen I heard of “I’ve Got A Way” sounds just as good.

Now this is MIGHTY fine! Looking forward to the full release. There is a vague resemblance to earlier Sturgill Simpson in the sound and rhythm of the song. It is not derivative, but in the same vein. And that is also meant as a compliment.

Is track one a cover of the old Dubliners tune, popularized by the Pogues? I hope so, it’s a great song.

I was a late comer to her music. The first time I heard her was on a YouTube video where she sang a cover of “Rex’s Blues” and it brought a tear to my eyes. I’ve been a fan since. This new song is great and so far the new album is tied with Cody Jinks new album (which releases the same day as Kelsey’s album) for most anticipated album of the year for me.

Question for anyone that knows, before Goldmine, Kelsey released an EP. IT was up on Bandcamp. When I went to buy it, she had pulled it. I asked her about it and she responded that it was taken down for reasons she couldn’t get into but she would send me a copy (which she never did). Are the songs on the EP on this release?
