Kenny Rogers Hospitalized, But Disputes “Preparing For Death” Stories
Kenny Rogers is not on death’s door, despite misleading reports to the contrary, and some continuing health problems. The 80-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer has been hospitalized for dehydration in Georgia, and continues to remain in medical care to undergo physical therapy. But reports from spurious gossip site Radar Online and others saying that he’s “preparing for death” are overblown according to Kenny’s representatives.
Radar Online‘s elaborate report (not linked here on purpose) cited an unnamed source saying Rogers is dealing with liver disease, bladder Cancer, and an ailing back, and is selling off his assets to prepare for his passing. Rogers has been attempting to sell some of his property assets for some time, and at 80-years-old, could be dealing with a host of medical issues beyond his current hospitalization, and would be smart to plan for the future of his estate.
But the Radar Online story went out of its way to embellish the circumstances, including saying that Rogers placed a “final” phone call to Dolly Parton. The report in one breath says that Kenny Rogers has been wandering his neighborhood, going into random houses, while later saying he’s bed ridden, needs 24-hour medical care, and is hooked up to oxygen tanks. Other outlets then picked up on Radar Online‘s reporting and posted similar stories.
The articles prompted representatives for Kenny Rogers to release the following statement:
Due to recent wild misinformation and speculation from several media outlets, we are issuing the following statement on behalf of Kenny Rogers:
Kenny was recently admitted to a local Georgia hospital and treated for dehydration. He will remain there to complete some physical therapy to get his strength back prior to discharge. He appreciates the concern and well wishes he has received from his fans and can assure everyone he plans on sticking around through the years to come.
Kenny Rogers announced his retirement and a final farewell tour called “The Gambler’s Last Deal” on April 13th, 2016 after nearly five decades as a live performer. Rogers fulfilled the first leg of the farewell tour, but then was forced to cancel all of his remaining 2018 appearances in April of that year due to health concerns.
“I didn’t want to take forever to retire,” Rogers said in a statement. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on ‘The Gambler’s Last Deal’ tour. I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they’ve given me throughout my career and the happiness I have experienced because of that.”
Kenny Rogers also appeared and performed at the “All In for the Gambler” Farewell Show held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on October 25th, 2017, with Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, The Judds, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, and a host of others performing in his honor.
Kenny Rogers married his current wife Wanda Miller on June 1, 1997, and the couple has two teenage twin boys. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013, and remains one of the greatest selling artists of any genre of all time.

Can’t explain my love for you Kenny and your music.
I pray God to give you a gift of total submission to Him (God).. with that you have nothing to worry about, even if death knocks on your door.
I pray for this every day in secret to tell God how I truly love you. Never seen you face to face before , but I wish God makes it possible for me to see you at least just for once so I could have a word with you in a lifetime , anyday , anywhere , anyhow.
Salam alaikum !

God Bless You Kenny Rogers. We have so many of your CD’s and records. People ask my husband at least once a week: “has anyone ever told you that you favor or look like Kenny Rogers?” He smiles and says thank you and yes they have. What a compliment but he doesn’t sound like you. Get well quickly with help from the Lord. We love you

One hopes. of course, that Kenny gets better. At the age of 80 (YIPE!), he has lived a hugely eventful life and sold something on the order of a hundred million albums. And while some may tag the man as an example of the “crossover” phenomenon that has been a problem in country music for the last sixty-five years, he has had a body of work, from the First Edition in the late 1960s to “The Gambler”, “Coward Of The County”, and on and on. that most of today’s country music “studs” can only dream about having.
Here’s to The Gambler’s recovery, and that he can live whatever is left of his life to its fullest.

Kenny, your life has been a blessing. I treasure you everyday for your songs, your movies. My husband and I are both in motorized wheelchairs. We do don’t travel a lot because our transportation is so hard to get into and out of. Our lives have been changed a lot because we can’t afford transportation to hold our wheelchairs. We wanted so much to come to Nashville on your last visit. My mother passed last year. Our granddaughter is getting married this month of June. We were hit from behind our last trip from a doctor and our backs are still feeling it. I hope for and pray for your speedy recovery. Everyone, especially you has the right to retire. Much love to you and your family and hope for all the days you can spend with them. Your family is your life line. Darlene

Kenny, my husband and I, send our love and prayers that you recover soon. My husband and I are both in motorized wheelchairs. It is hard for us to get around with Two wheelchairs. We don’t get to go as much as we use to. Being confined is not a joy ride. You would think that transportation vehicles would not be so expensive. But, I guess everyone wants to get as much out of disabled people as they can. Which is a shame. My husband is so down in his back. That loading our chairs is almost impossible. But vans with automatic ramps are more expensive than we could ever afford. We enjoy your music and movies every time they play. Please spend as much time with your family and friends as you can. Get well soon. Much joy for your family and you. You deserve retirement. Don’t be like us and be so crippled you can do anything. Save enough money to buy anything your family will need later in their life. Because, when you become disabled everyone takes advantage of you, charge you more. Be happy, comfortable, love your family like you should!. My husband waited on me 20 years, and now we have been married going on 21 years and our love is as fresh as the first day. God, should have made everyone as lucky as we are. You should have made us able to buy each other what we needed . But, if life was perfect, you would have no suffering. Good luck. Darlene

Please get well soon. May the Lord be witH you. Hospitals are a good thing. They help you get better and take care of you from my experience. Get plenty of rest…the public can wear you out. Think of it as just checkin in to see what. my condition was in…My friend played this for me. I was surprised I hadn’t heard it sooner. Did you record this @ 1967? Wow! Reminds me of an experience I once had…8 miles high…only mine was 7…anyway you must have experienced something phenomenal then to write and sing it so well. Can’t wait to hear more songs from you your time here is not done. Your stories still need told…get well soon. Sincerely, A Fan they call me Annee

Dear Kenny, I’ve been one of your biggest fans my entire life, born in 1968. My mom was a huge fan of yours and played your songs on our 8 track tape deck player. I used to sing along with you till I wore that tape out. I have always sang along to your beautiful music when ever your were on the radio. I’ve never seen you in concert, I was never in the right place at the right time. I so wish I could have seen you in person just once before you retired. You must have a beautiful soul, because God gave you an amazing voice so you could share it with the world for as long as possible. I’m sorry that your not able to do that anymore. I’m praying that God will heal your body and mind, and take away all of yours and your family’s worries. That He will continue to give you and your family the strength and courage to deal with whatever comes next. Get well soon.
With all my love,
one of your biggest fans

My prayers go out to you and your family that your health improves. I have been lucky enough to see you in concert in Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. You are one great entertainer and your music is my favorite. God Bless you always. I’m just an average person and met your brother who was a friend of Eric Petersons
whom I understand perished in a small airplane crash) when my girlfriend visited her Aunt in Vero Beach a few years back. To have seen you is more than I could have ever imagined.
Wishing your family the best.
