Lucky Tubb Releases New Album “Hillbilly Fever”
Well I knew there was a new album called Hillbilly Fever coming from traditional country rising star Lucky Tubb and his band the Modern Day Troubadours, but I didn’t know it was coming so quickly.
The album will be released tomorrow (5-11) and will feature 10 tracks, including a few with Wayne “The Train” Hancock, including the title song. 6 of the songs can presently be heard in their entirety on Lucky’s myspace site. You can also preview all the tracks and order the album from Lone Star Music by clicking here. Lucky’s albums are solely available through Lone Star Music.
I really like what I’m hearing so far, and as soon as I get a copy in my hands, you’ll be getting a review in front of your eyes.
Also for anyone in or around the Dallas TX area, Lucky and Wayne will be playing a show together at the famed Granada Theater on July 9th.
This is traditional country at its finest!

Tomorrow ! Holy shit thats Awesome!!! Guess I’ll go have a listen.

No man, it was the same for Damn The Luck. Still not available on Amazon or iTunes or CD Baby. Not saying they won’t come available in the future, but I wouldn’t wait for it. I think making it available more places would give his music a lot more exposure, but I understand also wanting to help the little guy.

Download-option would be really great, especially for the fans here in Europe. Really like Lucky’s music and then making songs together with The Train is almost unbeatable.

I really like it so far, anyone have an idea who produced this?
May 11, 2010 @ 7:36 am
Checked out a couple of tracks on myspace and I really like what I hear The Train and Lucky sound great! Can’t wait to buy it

Gina Gallina, Wayne Hancock’s wife whose now doing booking for Lucky, says they are going to try to get it on iTunes.

Great news! I was late in the game, but I enjoyed Damn The Luck a whole lot! Ordering from overseas can sometimes be a gamble, but Lone Star Music did a fine job last time so I placed my order without hesitation!
Cheers,
MLP

Right on! Perfect timing; I’ve been wanting to buy “Damn the Luck” for some time, but couldn’t find it for sale anywhere. Now I know the secret, and I have to decide which one to purchase first. That’s my kind of difficult decision!

Awesome! You just reminded me I picked up ‘Damn The Luck’ whilst in the states .. and haven’t even listened to it! I’ve just had my Scott H. Biram CD’s on high rotate since I got back 3 weeks ago. LOVE LOVE LOVE … however will give them a rest and bust out my Damn The Luck today. From what I’ve heard I’ll definitely get the new one too.

AS MUCH AS I LOVE “DAMN THE LUCK”…I don’t think I’ll buy “Hillbilly Fever” til I can hear a sample of it. Maybe the venue was too cheap ($4.00 a head ) to put his talents into the show but I wasn’t overly impressed with what he performed after the first few songs…he got a little “happy go lucky” with the next few so I left early . . . damn the luck! He is a helluva a talent, hope he gets past the party aspect…
May 12, 2010 @ 5:50 pm
I appreciate your honesty AJ. You always say what you believe, whether its popular or not. I’ll stand behind Lucky as a talent, but you aren’t the first to report that he was a little too “Lucky” when it came showtime. Lucky is his own greatest talent, and his own worst enemy.
May 13, 2010 @ 3:15 pm
I saw him in OKC in March. I wasn’t too impressed with I had heard beforehand but after they had played I really liked what they were doing and this new stuff seems to be just as good. They’re coming back through on June 11th. Should be a good time.

Lonestarmusic.com now has Lucky’s first cd Generations remastered avalible now. I got lucky a few months back and found a first printing copy on ebay. Great cd you need to check it out.

Gina Gallina is saying that this album is still being pressed, so it may be a little longer than expected to get it. Lone Star Music may have had their wires crossed.

Lucky is an outlaw and shouldn’t be criticized for playin drunk and stoned ain’t that right Triggaman?
May 15, 2010 @ 7:09 pm
The performance still has to be there.
May 16, 2010 @ 1:31 am
So are you saying he sucks when he gets fucked up or Can’t hold his liquor so to speak, or you don’t prefer his style live or what? Countless artists like Bocephus, Waylon, Cobain, the Sex Pistols, Doors, and on and on always played wasted.. So what deems Lucky ‘under-par’ in his performances?
May 16, 2010 @ 7:17 am
I don’t care if they’re stoned or stone sober. What matters to me is how good the performance is. Some artists play better under the influence. I can’t speak for Shot Jackson or AJ, but when I saw him at the Cash Bash in Feb. I gave him a thumbs up. It might have been a little underresearsed at times, but Lucky didn’t come across as too drunk or anything like that. I don’t know that he even started drinking until after he played.
Lucky is Lucky, and a lot of the standard rules don’t apply to him. Everyone I know who knows him well says he’s a lose cannon. You have to love this about him, because without this, he wouldn’t be Lucky. I don’t like to hear about bad performances, but with him you have to take the good with the bad. His talent though is undeniable.
May 17, 2010 @ 2:18 am
You dug your way back outta that one. Seemed you were implying that you concurred with AJ and what’s his face. Good wording

Just went by Ernest Tubbs’ Record shop and they didn’t even know this was out. I was hoping they would have some deal w/ the label or Lucky. Normally they do, she said Lucky will bring a few copies by and sell it to them directly.
I ran into Lucky at show a while back, either Justin Townes Earle or a Shackshakers show, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Very humble and grateful that I bought his record.
