Luke Combs, Craig Morgan to Perform on the Grand Ole Opry

The Saturday night Grand Ole Opry tradition continues even during the COVID-19 pandemic with two official Opry members—one older, and one new—taking the stage together Saturday, April 25th, keeping the circle unbroken once again.

As the Grand Ole Opry has done now every week during the Coronavirus quarantine and stay-at-home orders in place in Nashville, they’ll broadcast live to the world with no audience present, no backing band, and only a skeleton crew of support staff on site. It will be the 4,921st consecutive Saturday night broadcast in the Grand Ole Opry’s nearly 95-year-old history.

Luke Combs is the biggest artist in all of country music at the moment, and along with his accolades for albums sold and #1 songs, he added an Opry induction to his resume in the summer of 2019. His song “Six Feet Apart” co-written with Brent Cobb and Rob Snyder has been one of the most heralded contributions during the Coronavirus shutdown, and there’s a good chance fans will get to hear it live Saturday night after he revealed a studio version of the song is being rushed to market.

Craig Morgan has been an Opry member since 2008, and like we’ve seen with many of these stripped-down acoustic performances, the Opry likes to include a little bit of country music’s gospel influence in the presentation—something Morgan is perfect for. His Gospel country album God, Family, Country is scheduled to be released on May 22nd.

These acoustic performances have held a special weight since they started, with Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs, Ashley McBryde, Terri Clark, Lauren Alaina, Trace Adkins, T. Graham Brown, Dailey & Vincent, and others taking the stage during performances that are sure to go down in the history books due to the unusual circumstances.

Fans can watch live via the embedded player below, on the new Circle Network via local affiliates of the expanding channel (check availability), or on the Circle Network’s Facebook Page, or on The Circle Network’s YouTube page, or listen via WSM. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Central.
