Marty Stuart, Charley Crockett Lead New Adds to Top 25 Playlist (#77)

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs have just been added.

Newest Additions:

Charley Crockett – “I Can Help” – Normally such a recognizable cover song would not be included on the playlist. But this track from Bruce Robison’s The Next Waltz Vol. 3 has been going crazy on both Americana and AAA radio, and might be a breakout moment for Crockett for many new listeners. Go Charley!

The Divorcees – “Dying Breed” – Make sure this real deal honky tonk band from Eastern Canada is on your radar, no matter where you hail from. Last of a dying breed for sure.

Max Flinn – “If I Didn’t Love You” – What a great country song; well-written with Brent Mason on guitar and Larry Franklin on fiddle, making you highly-anticipate Flinn’s upcoming EP Meant to Be out March 5th.

Richard Schroder – “Time’s a Wastin’” – Not only does this song have a great honky tonk sound, it’s an important message to heed at the beginning of the year when hopes are high, and the promises we make to ourselves to keep the eye on big goals need to be underscored. Good song.

Tommy Buller – “Nothing Said It All” – The Lower Broadway star that blew us away with his 2018 honky tonk record When a Country Boy Gets the Blues has been releasing bluegrass singles lately. NOTE: His previous music was released under the name “Tom Buller,” so make sure you make the migration to the new moniker. Definitely worth checking out and keeping up with.

Marty Stuart – “I’ve Been Around” – From the recently-expanded Forever Words project featuring unreleased lyrical songs from Johnny Cash, it’s always good to get new music from Marty Stuart, and “I’ve Been Around” will tide us over until his next original project that’s hopefully in the offing.

The Dimestore Cowboys – “Ain’t Got the Time” – The Dimestore Cowboys out of Johnson City, Tennessee have that blue-collar, local honky tonk feel to them, imbuing the band with the authenticity that results in international appeal for those who know what country music is supposed to sound like, and be about.
