Morgan Wallen’s ‘N’ Word Proves He’s Unworthy of Praise & Prominence
I told you.
To cite the review of Morgan Wallen’s latest record,
QUOTE:
If Morgan Wallen was a young male suitor in pursuit of your sister or daughter, he would be one of those beaus where it is undeniable they are trouble, with not just red flags flying right out in the open, but a rap sheet to back up these presuppositions—yet at the same time they possess an irresistible charisma that almost immediately drops guards, and they know how to say and do the right things at the right times to wiggle out of trouble, and to get one everyone’s good side, despite a pattern of bad behavior.
This is Morgan Wallen’s career and music in a nutshell. He will tell you, “No I swear baby, I won’t do it again. I’ve changed,” and then get arrested outside Kid Rock’s bar on Lower Broad. He’ll then tell you he’s learned his lesson, and is taking a break on social media, only to show up on Tik-Tok making out with random co-eds in Tuscaloosa when he’s supposed to be quarantining for SNL.
Morgan Wallen has charmed the majority of the mainstream country music listening public to the tune of becoming one of the most popular, if not the most popular artist at the moment right up there with Luke Combs, as well as charming many critics who hear some of Morgan’s more heady and sentimental material, and swoon.
But the truth of the matter is, your nose doesn’t lie.
UNQUOTE.
– – – – – – – –
So now Morgan Wallen has been caught on camera screaming obscenities into the cold Nashville night, including the biggest of all no-no’s—the notorious ‘N’ word (see below). And it’s not only Morgan Wallen who is going to have to answer for it, it’s going to be country music, as writers from around the world will point out how he’s the best-selling country artist at the moment, which means every country artist that has ever lived has also always been a racist, and so is every country music fan.
I’m not sure if Morgan Wallen is a racist. This instance seems more like him trying to be a tough guy than harboring racial insensitivity. But he’s plenty stupid, and a raging douche canoe, and I wouldn’t put racism past him either. I’d say this is the final straw and he’s forever sullied his reputation. But for some inexplicable reason, this dude is given the mother of all leashes. Most of us Joes never make it to our second or third strike. This guy is on number 5 or 6. Anybody else would have been passed on if they screwed up their COVID protocol to appear on SNL. Wallen got a second chance, like he always does. That’s how we end up back at this same story. Because he never faces real consequences, and never learns. And strangely, much of the media is willing to run interference for him.
Just last week I had to bite my tongue as People Magazine published a puff piece praising Morgan Wallen for what a good father he is … to his son out of wedlock. Look, you don’t have to be married to be a good parent, but perhaps you should at least be present, and not out getting caught on camera in the middle of the night calling people “P**** motherf***ers.” That’s not exactly indicative of Father of the Year material.
“As Morgan Wallen’s popularity has exploded in the past year, he’s attracted a lot of labels—’outlaw,’ ‘sex symbol,’ ‘superstar’—that have sometimes complicated his life,” says the embarrassing spread in People Magazine. “But there’s one label, he says, that ‘I have the easiest time accepting.’ That’s ‘dad.'”
Oh screw off People Magazine, and your pathetic, transparent effort to humanize this dude and rehabilitate his image to raise his commercial stock. It’s about as shameful as when Jason Aldean got caught cheating on his wife in L.A. the same week he was on the cover of People being touted as the ideal family man. All of this stuff is such a dog and pony show. And yes, the media is complicit in this, both inside and outside of country music for fawning over this guy vociferously, and for reasons I still fail to understand.
Yes, country music has been full of infidelity and felonious actors since its inception. This is nothing new. But at least we got some good music from it. And no, the old country greats didn’t get caught on camera using the N-word, except for maybe David Allan Coe, and he’s his own special basket case. Meanwhile Wallen regurgitates expired Bro-Country, yet gets lauded by critics because he covered a Jason Isbell song. Stop it! What does this guy have to do to prove he’s trash, scream obscenities in the street in the middle of the night, checking every box off the cancel culture bingo card?
Yes, everybody deserves a second chance. But Morgan Wallen is about on chance #7. How about he just go a few weeks without screwing up? “I’m embarrassed and sorry,” he told TMZ. “I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
You’ve promised that before Morgan, and many times. And you haven’t delivered. Morgan Wallen doesn’t deserve to have his entire career ripped from him any more than anyone else, which very well may happen this time. But I don’t want him representing the pinnacle of country music, either as an artist, or as a public figure. This latest incident and ‘N’ bomb will hopefully and rightfully knock him down to the notch where he belongs, which is a 3rd tier semi-okay mainstream country star struggling to fill mid to large-capacity clubs and to find traction for his mediocre radio singles.
Word is Cumulus media has already pulled all Morgan Wallen songs from their rotation, which will be an immediate wallop to his career. (UPDATE: he’s also now been pulled by iHeart, CMT, and his label has suspended his contract). And this is from the guy that has topped ALL of music for three consecutive weeks after the release of his double album Dangerous. But as they say, be wary of a hillbilly with a hit record. This very well might be the last time Morgan Wallen sees the top. And scream about cancel culture all you want, we all know the environment out there right now, and we all know the gravity of the ‘N’ word. More than anyone else, Morgan Wallen deserves whatever repercussions are coming to him. In fact, he’s in arrears.
Give all the praise you’ve been showering Morgan Wallen with to artists like Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Charley Crockett, and Cody Jinks. They actually deserve it, and won’t embarrass you as a country music fan. They’ll make you proud.

First let me say that I am not a fan of MW. I like more Childers, whiskey Myers, Jinks, Sturgill type shit. But there’s a big problem here. Is what people misunderstand is that for one, he didn’t use the hard R. There’s a difference between ni–a and the other. A big difference.
For two, anybody around this age that grew up in the southeast region and went to any form of public school or event, has been surrounded with black people calling each other ni–a. All day. Every day. It’s a term of endearment when used in this form. Why should white people be expected to refrain from use when it’s been pounded into their heads on a consistent basis? It’s like brainwashing someone to like a certain food, watching everyone around them eat it, and then telling them, don’t touch! Ridiculous.
Lastly – Why the don’t you hear any black people bitching about this? Because most don’t give a fuck. He didn’t use the hard r and it doesn’t matter to them what some dumb ass white boy says to his drunk homies at 2 am.. such a shame that “country music” has turned into a bunch of politically correct bandwagon dick riding snowflakes. What the hell happened to the outlaws? The good ole boys? Fucking shame after shame on this “bend over and fuck me into compliance” attitude people have adopted these days. Yes Waylon, we have rolled down the fucking hill. Be grateful you didn’t have to bear witness…

Unfortunately for country music, Wallen has more talent than the majority of your so-called “stars.” Without him, country radio isn’t worth a listen. You can keep your Fla-Ga Line, Maren, Guyton, and Kelsie. We’ll be listening to the talented Wallen.
He!! Right!

“Hell right!” I think the streaming numbers alone demonstrate the fact that we’ve turned off our radios and are just streaming MW (& Hardy) 😂 if they want to dictate what we can listen to in the face of so clearly a demand, then they can take their radio, talk, and commercials and put it someplace *nice & special*! I’ll be on Amazon Music, who never pulled him.

I totally agree 100% with ya, I grew upnim south Texas and I heard it all my life, and the fact that he said ni..a not er makes a huge difference and who he said it to his best friend not a black person. And he didn’t say it in a derogatory way either, that’s why black people aren’t mad cause they know what he meant, also I’m pissed at the scum who recorded him without his knowledge and felt the need to post something they didn’t fully understand what was going on, (probably some snowflake mf) and as I understand they didn’t post the whole of the video either just that part that THEY THEIR OPINON deemed fit for them, so they wrecked this man’s whole career cause they didn’t understand what and how it was said, I wonder if that (KAREN) would like it if someone recorded them WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE mind u and posted something that was not right about them, and possibly get them fired or something.. I think people have gotten so damn sensitive in these past 12 years it unreal, what ever happened to mind your business unless someone is in need of help or assistance, but NOOO we have to video everything amd everybody just to post it for views or to get someone introuble , it’s pathetic what this world has come to now…I like morgan wallen and will continue to, but nowadays you can be an independent artist and make just as much money..t.y. all for reading.. 🥰😇 #freewalen 🤣
Confused by You
April 2, 2021 @ 1:21 am
Really? Is he? Honestly? This is laughable.
Dude gives his time at St. Judes. Does probono concerts to raise money for the cause. They say he’s one of the stars that puts the most into his timeS there, stays extra time, and really tries to connect with the patients. He takes time during a concert to do a video recording for a fan whose mom couldn’t come to the concert with him. He loves his momma and grandma. He has the support and love of his sisters. He’s taking responsibility for his son. He says he tries hard as hell to do the right thing. He talks about his faith regularly and openly.
And what has he *really* done? Honestly?
Got rowdy at a bar with some friends… OH NO! Wait….. Kid Rock seemed to hold no grudge. No charges were filed. No one was even slightly hurt.
Then. He kissed. Some. Girls…. At a college party. Oh. My. Word. Hold the presses.WHAT?! 😂 If you’ve ever partied in college, you might be aware… That kind of thing happens. And it appeared to be only for social media props anyhow. Big flippin’ deal. Oh, does it bother you that he went against the almighty Covid hype? Well, let me tell you, “it’s still going down out in the country”. Most county America has been maskless & living our lives for a while now. Oh and most of us have HAD Covid. We’re doing just fine. So sorry if that offends your fear-mongering, politically-charged ideas about life, but things look a lot different outside them city walls. Should he have done it thoughtlessly right before knowing he was to go to SNL? Naw. But… A – excuse me, I have a hard time even typing your vulgarity back- but a “shit bag” maketh? I think very much so, no.
And to this last occurance, oh. My. Goodness. He swore. Arrest his a$$… Oh wait… He was on his own property, with his WHITE friends, and he said to take care of some dudes (won’t repeat the language… Because I’m not wasted) who were more wasted that he, and probably passed out. So.. ribbing the guys who couldn’t hold their alcohol as well as him. Macho, lame thing to do, but “cancel worthy”? I think not. He GREW UP IN THE South – you think that word (soft a, by the way) wasn’t thrown around always? He likes hiphop music – maybe he was even listening to something that very night, so the word was on his inebriated mind. His BLACK friends have stood by him. Don’t you think they ought to be the judge? You can SEE he isn’t racist in any part of his history. His “The Way I Talk” video has black people in it co-tepresenting the South. His COACH was Usher (need more vetting than that?) on The Voice over white/Hispanic Shakira. Bobby Bones – while having the spotlight turned to him in the aftermath – said he’s is a great kid – that made a mistake. MW comfortably & with comradery talked to and hugged or elbow bumped both the white & black men and women on SNL after the show. He golfed with Darius Rucker for charity. So… Not racist then. Unthinking and poor choice? Yup. But deplorable? Nope, sorry.
His sister said he was going through a personal struggle & low-point in a life – so he is not thinking clearly and is trying to drink and party away the issue. Healthy & wise coping strategies? Nope. But…..
Honestly, where is the bag of fecal matter you so eloquently compared him to?

Hank Jr. and Charlie Daniels are presented as the #1 and #1A racist and jingoistic personalities in country music. But they were never stupid enough to be caught up in a moment like this. There also weren’t Ring doorbells all over America and the Internet blasting every little detail about a star’s life. Guaranteed he said stuff that would make you blush. But country music has alway – up until now – been a tight-lipped family that doesn’t turn on its own. There are most definitely not that now. Most is owned by people in California that wouldn’t know a backroad if they were driving down the middle of it.

Morgan Wallen has been given all these chances simply because Bro-Country needed a fresh, new face. He even got that pre-approved “shine,” or “the rub” from Florida Georgia Line.
And guess what, the forces of supply and demand kicked in, so we got even more Morgan Wallen shoved down our throats.
Once we stop listening to crap, the incentive structure for these miscreants becomes non-existent.
That said, I don’t have much faith in humanity. Behavior change is hard.

First of all he said it to a friend and wasn’t just saying hey N!!?ER to someone using it in a racial tone, has anyone noticed if 1 white person uses the N word blacks go to crying real fast but it’s ok for them to say cracker white ass honkey which in reality they racist as 💩! Get over it already 100 years ago slavery hit which yes is past history and will be a part of history until the day we die but you have not been a slave of any white person unless you was alive over a 100 ago! Black people uses the word in songs which they call their work of art and in movies plus videos etc etc and blacks use slang in their evryday lives so what is the dam difference here? Nothing… fake people in this world want to rant and rave but talk this crap evryday of their lives! White and Blacks use this language every day. They use it then anyone can use it if it’s in a non racial manner! Again people all this race crap is got me fed up and tired of getting blamed for something their and our ancestors did. Africa King sold you to other countries and if they wouldn’t have you would never be in America! Oprah would have never got rich! Lol get over it and try to be better humans and quit fighting a battle that isn’t there and def leave it in history where it belongs or if you want to learn—-read where(slavery and race all began) it started w who sold the black man (in Africa Toto) and and go watch ROOTS! You keep the racial mess going, then it will be this way until you die! Find ways to communicate better and don’t use the N word in a racist statement and don’t let it define who you are! I’ve seen and heard way worse than this kid who used the word NI66ER! He apologized and he should not lose his career over a few Black African Americans who pull the race card evry time a white person uses it in any way… get the f over it! When blacks say honkey and cracker and don’t give a shit—-do you see any whites stepping up to speak or bring the Calvary in oh lawd no 🙂 Get a better hobby than whining about it people! History is what it is let it stay there and teach from here not to be divided but use respect for each other and quit w all the racism crap or I’m a start a blog on it showing why no one should use the word! I’ll show 100s of songs w the N word in it and every movie w the word in it and get a vote if certain people can express the word and it’s ok to sing a song w the N word in it then you shouldn’t get mad when others go around singing it or saying it they express it same way you use it! I be dam I’m tired of this 💩!

I agree 200% with Debra. Using the word n i g g a was first brought forth by African Americans themselves therefore they should not get offended by it in my opinion there’s a difference between the word n i g g a which to them means like a brother brother in the hood and the word n i g g e r which is an offensive term people commonly used for African Americans but now use it across all nationalities they mean that word to mean lazy and useless. But I do not feel like Morgan Wallen should be chastised to this extreme for the use of this word when he was obviously intoxicated. Just because you are famous does not mean that you do not get intoxicated and that you do not let things slip out and make mistakes. Being wealthy does not mean that you are perfect! But I will say this I am a true Morgan Wallen fan and I think he is extremely talented and anyone that says he is not I will guarantee cannot sing or rap like he does. while we’re on that note I am also a huge fan of Tracy Lawrence even though he was arrested and served time for domestic violence. I’m not condoning domestic violence because I like his music he is a talented artist and irregardless of what they do people like Hank Williams Jr Johnny Cash and Randy Travis the list goes on and on. With Fame and Fortune also come toxic traits such as drugs and alcohol and sexual exploits the only difference between them and us is the fame and notoriety that come with what they do to express themselves and their talent so people really need to lay off of them

Additionally, I don’t think the “N” word should be considered a racial slur BUT since it is than 99% of all black peoples are racist. There is a huge double standard and people are so dumb to even realize or care about it. I invite you to go listen to some Rap songs. I can guarantee than probably a percentage of well north of 50% of all Rap songs use the words he did plus a lot worse ones and sprinkle in some “real” racial slurs towards whites. But hey, those same record labels, the Public, the NAACP, BLM and the list goes on approve of that.

It’s not just the N-word, it’s a cumulative pattern of self destructive, questionable behavior that’s getting Wallen canceled. If this was Vince Gill caught on video, we’d be shocked but no one would be calling for him to be canceled.
Also, those made a the person filming Wallen? I doubt this was the first time he’s been a disturbance in his neighborhood. That neighbor probably had enough and was waiting to embarrass Wallen.

So blacks are allowed to use the infamous N Word in Rap songs, in locker rooms, etc, no problem, for all the world to hear, but a white guy using it towards another white guy, is so big a deal, that he must be destroyed. Seems racist that only whites are being targeted . Instead of playing the race card, how about worrying about the awful criminal behavior of blacks, and the Rap music that spews filth and glorifies lawless thug behavior.

Just watched a video on YouTube between Shaq and Kevin Hart that was taken recently. Two brothers just talking and posting on YouTube. Kevin calls Shaq the NWORD but I haven’t seen all you pussys calling him out. Why is that? We all agree the NWORD is RACIST but why do we give a pass when blacks say it to each other? It’s either wrong or it isn’t. So if you bitches on here are going to cry and complain about Wallen doing it then you need to be blowing up YouTube about that video and while you’re at it most every rap song has the NWORD in it. Let’s censor them and block them on every radio venue as well! MW was absolutely wrong to say it but so are all the rest of them.

I hear you. I guess we could debate the semantics as to whether or not this was “in public”, but that won’t get us anywhere. The outrage to me is that someone’s entire livelihood and career can be destroyed for the utterance of an unpleasant word. And further that we must first assess the skin tones of said miscreant to ensure an appropriate response. As for me, I don’t cuss. And I loathe this dude’s music.

You are hilarious to think that he got Dixie Chicked. The Dixie Chicks were shunned by their *fans* because they completely win against what the majority of their fans agreed with and thought about the beginning of the war after 9/11. However, he’s on week 10 of the top of the charts overall music. I don’t think he’s been Dixie Chicked. The public clearly wants to listen to him, and the radio stations are owned by pretentious, woke idiots that aren’t listening to what the public wants.
OH, and to be extremely clear, when you say white trash, when you call somebody a hillbilly, when you say that they’re redneck, and you’re using it in a derogatory manner, that means YOU are the racist. He didn’t say it in a derogatory manner. He didn’t say it in a hateful manner. He said it to his friend on his front lawn. I hate the word that he used, but you’re the trash that’s spewing hate. Not him. All he said at all in response to any of this has been respectful and full of contrition and love.

Trig what did think about Margo Price dragging up old pics/tweets from Luke Combs yesterday. He released his song with Billy Strings and said he’s not being political and she went off. Implying he’s racist as well. Why would she do that? Then last night this. I’m not a fan of Wallen but this was disturbing. And Morris and Guyton saying it’s not the first time they have heard this from him. Not sure what will happen. But you are right that all country music will be put under a microscope now.
Trigger
February 3, 2021 @ 10:11 am
I actually have an article on the Luke Combs / Margo Price stuff coming up momentarily. It was pre-empted when this erupted late last night. Unfortunately, I think the two incidents will be linked, when they should be considered autonomously. That’s why I’m going to move forward with that article, even though the timing is kind of bad.
And I concur with Maren Morris and Mickey Guyton. I have never heard or heard of Morgan Wallen using the ‘N’ word. But you can tell by the video, he’s used to slipping into this tough guy mode and using it casually. As I’ve said, this guy sets off every single red flag. The fact that he’s been allowed to become so massive, and specifically slipped past many of the critics who should have known better, really boggles my mind.

Personally, I say fuck this guy, his music, and what he said. Never been impressed by him anyway and this is shot behavior.” But the sentence “The fact that he’s been allowed to become so massive, and specifically slipped past many of the critics who should have known better, really boggles my mind” is a little creepy to me. Critics are supposed to “allow” certain people, who behave a certain way, to become popular? 🤔
Trigger
February 3, 2021 @ 2:00 pm
All I’m saying is that despite his mediocre music and bad public persona, Morgan Wallen sure has enjoyed a lot of fawning from critics who actively turn their nose from Florida Georgia Line, both in and out of the country music realm. How did he even get on SNL, and then get a second chance? Of course, critics don’t control popularity. But they can at least give the public perspective and context. This didn’t happen with Morgan Wallen. They gave him a pass, or anointed him, and now it’s a mess for country music to clean up.

Fair enough, but “not fawning” over someone and not “allowing” them seem different enough to not use interchangeably.

I think sometimes people confuse being “offended” with just thinking someone is a dumb asshole that isn’t worth the trouble. In this case it is insensitive, offensive to many AND he’s a dumb asshole who isn’t worth the trouble. He’s been having some momentary mainstream success in the country charts but there are guys that find that every yr or two, in that time and place and never recreate it. He’s not some phenom of a songwriter or next level artist who is breaking records or reshaping country music. He’s just another one of those guys that pops up with the right kind of production, branding, backing and shtick. In a few yrs his stuff will be outdated and he’ll be just another old dude trying to act like hes 27 and recapture whatever peak of success he had for a yr or two when the stars aligned…but he won’t be able to bc it was never his unique talent and ability that got him there in the first place.

Beg to differ – he can bring it acoustic – which real music lovers, that’s what we want! We want the artists who could resurrect MTVs unplugged – and carry the entire concert acoustic and entertain us. If you can’t and require a stage show, that isn’t real talent IMHO. He and Luke combs and Luke Bryant and Aldean can do those concerts. Along with some other greats! Why hip hop shouldn’t exist – nothing is true music as it couldn’t be performed w/out all the synthesizers and stage show half nakedness that sells it.
He has an amazing album out with dangerous and speaks common language – unfortunately, even the N word for some – if they admitted to it!

Make no mistake, one of the reasons Morgan Wallen has received curious praise from press outside of country music is because he incorporates hip-hop elements into his songs which many in the media feel is essential for country music becoming “inclusive.” But part and parcel to that, you get racist language, you get rank misogyny and materialism that is present in much of popular hip-hop. As Cameron said above, he was trying to be Lil Wayne.

Definitely not defending Morgan Wallen at all. Please don’t take a response to a comment out of context of what I just wrote an entire article about. My only point is to me, Morgan Wallen was trying to be a tough guy. And yes, that’s different than shouting a racial epithet towards a person of color with the express purpose of degrading them. No, I am NOT defending Wallen. I’m simply making a judgement call. For all I know, Morgan Wallen is a blanket racist. I definitely wouldn’t put it past him. But that’s a very strong accusation, and due to its gravity, should not be doled out lightly, in my opinion.

Greg, I will agree that in the end, as the great George Carlin said, they are just words. Why is “fuck” so much worse than “fudge” in the same context? Or, as you note, why is “the c word” acceptable and “cunt” is not? It’s stupid.
However, when you have a group of people who have decided that they do not want that word used towards them, or even by others who are not a part of their group, no matter how it is defined, I believe that should be respected.
There is no way you are going to convince me that there are not many here, and I am one, who have not read something in the NY Times or elsewhere referring to people from the south as “rednecks” or “hillbillies” or worse. For goodness sakes, I’m originally from KY and now live in AL – imagine what I’ve been called/heard. Do we tend to just laught it off and go on? Of course not.
So ultimately, it’s not about what *you* think, but rather what *we* think. That is the nature of living in a society. If you don’t like it, no worries. Find a place and establish Gregland and have at it. Otherwise, you, and I, will have to live within the parameters of what society dictates we do.
And I’m not trying to be an asshole, I’m serious. Looking forward to seeing representatives from Gregland in the Olympics someday.

Couldn’t be in a hallway by myself for fear of harassment for the first 6 months … until I learned the narrative and ‘grew a pair’. You’re trying to be woke but all you’re doing is suggesting that large black men would be incapable of containing emotions and acting in a civil manner.
Sorta like if someone says black men are violent you’d be the type to say they aren’t but then add on that someone shouldn’t find themselves around a large group of these men lest they get hurt.
Which only proves the original remark uttered by the racist.
Speech has consequences. So, yes, saying ANYTHING to anyone can get a fist to the face if it upsets them.
But that doesn’t make them in the right for using physical force in this manner and as such defending that is some low IQ racism which suggests that these words don’t get said simply because of the violence in return rather than not saying such words because we don’t believe in them.
To listen to you? The only reason you’re saying to not say the N word is a “big black guy” might punch you in the face.
Aren’t there better reasons to not say it?
Maybe reasons you don’t say them at home or in private which again has little to do with large black men in country bars getting into fights with Morgan Wallen and more to do with just being decent.
Greg
February 3, 2021 @ 9:22 pm
Let me tell you something steller, I will say it anywhere I please and the smart guy that wants to punch me in the face might should re-evaluate his over zealous animal instincts…because I don’t care if you’re black white or any other color, lay hands on me and you just started a war that ain’t over until I say its over. Being big and black does not scare me just like being big and white makes no difference to me. Now, let me clarify, I have friends of a lot of different nationalities I am not a racist and have traveled to more than seventy five countries and went were I wanted and stayed until I was ready to leave. I have been to bars in Russia and other parts of the world that are so low on the totem pole that they don’t even have a sign on the building. Have things gotten a bit spooky at times…yes. Did I run out the door to find my safe place to keep from getting punched in the face? Hardly. Bottom line, obviously you are the one that’s a bit squeamish if just the thoughts of a big black man causes your bladder to release, I don’t have that problem. I have plenty of Indian blood in my veins and if you think any man of any nationality scares me with an angry demeanor, well, I find that you threatening me with a “big black man” while you hide behind a computer screen is ludicrous and speaks volumes about your manhood.

You know there are going to be a lot of people who are going to claim that this is no big deal. That is going to reflect poorly on Country.
As far as the “cancel culture” stuff goes I agree with you but I’m not sure how to prod the herd into a more reasonable direction. As social animals people tend to operate this way. People should not be completely ruined for stupid things short of violent crimes IMO. But it happens because businesses don’t want to be subject to loss form controversy. I don’t know what mechanisms could make that less onerous.

It seems like “country music” seems to take 2 steps forward and then 1 large step back. If he used it once, then it is reasonable to assume that this word is part of his vocabulary. I really hope he tries to be a better person by educating himself, but I’m not holding my breath.

The problem isn’t inherently with him saying that as he probably didn’t mean it in a racist way. The biggest issue is that people who don’t know Tyler Childers and only know Morgan Wallen equate Morgan Wallen directly as the face of the country music institution. Anything he does or says will be reflected back on country music and will be used as fuel on the fire to continually attack and claim country music as a racist institution. I’d like to say let’s not make a huge deal about it, but artists like him in today’s social climate inherit the responsibility to represent country music in a non-bigoted way. Anything done to the contrary will reflect poorly. I mean he doesn’t even need to be a good father figure or not drink; he simply should be expected to not do anything that has any racist connotation. If he doesn’t follow all the rules it probably helps his image and makes him seem like the bad kid and girls are attracted to that. It really is simple though. He had one job to not do anything racist and he let country music down. Because of him, country music and the public’s perception of it will continue to be degraded.

There are many other things more important to fight for such as the recent censoring in the GameStop/Reddit/Robinhood fiasco than some dumbass country artist. Drinking and listening to rap music doesn’t make you call people pussy ass n*ggers. The problem with Morgan Wallen is the zero accountability. The only thing I really dislike about how this has unfolded is that hip-hop is once again being positioned as the fall-man. Eminem, Macklemore, G-Eazy Post Malone??? We’ve had many many generations of incredibly successful white rappers who have managed to not say the n word in their music and avoid cancellation. It isn’t a valid an excuse to say he listened to a T.I record and he suddenly thought it was okay. The proper behavior has been modeled for him many times, and he chose not to follow it.

Just to clarify, I am not blaming hip-hop for this incident whatsoever, and please don’t take that as my implication. What Morgan Wallen said and did was wrong, and inexcusable. All I was trying to say is that when contextualizing what I see on the video, this is Morgan Wallen flexing beer muscles and trying to be a tough guy, and screaming an offensive word to other affluent whites, NOT cutting down a black person with a racial epithet.
I am in NO way trying to justify or excuse his behavior. I’m simply just drawing a distinction. Morgan Wallen’s mainstream career is now over. He’s paid the price.

so far what I’m seeing on Reddit is that no one is defending him. Last month a bunch of us were joking that Grady Smith’s subreddit (pop country fans) had become the Morgan Wallen Discussion Group because there were multiple posts a day for weeks about nothing but Wallen. When I checked this morning no one was defending him and tons of his own fans were jumping in there to say they were appalled. The other country music subreddits seemed to have the same reaction. Society really has moved past thinking there’s any ambiguity about this particular thing no matter who he was screaming it at or how drunk he was, especially in light of all his other stupidity over the past year.

I don’t believe the guy is the outsider people think he is, but I also don’t think he quite knows how the mainstream works. He’s still pretty new and maybe didn’t think talking like every other rapper out there was a problem. Him being a country artist doesn’t help his case though. That said nothing he has done or said even comes close to the Outlaw Country artists of the 80s. Maskless partying, a kid out of wedlock, one allegedly accidental use of the N word, Morgan has NOTHING on any country artist prior to the 90s.

Trigger, curious to know your thoughts on Spotify removing Wallen from top country playlists? I think it’s reasonable to believe that his conduct is reprehensible and should be condemned, but also that the reach of his music shouldn’t be artificially limited b/c of his personality issues. “Hot Country” for example, is a playlist for “Today’s top country hits of the week.” It doesn’t make sense to me that Morgan’s songs that fit that description should be removed from the playlist b/c of his behavior. The playlist should include the top country songs, period, even if some of the folks singing them happen to be pieces of shit. Pretty sure Sam Hunt was still on the playlist after drunkenly putting lives in danger on the road. Why shouldn’t he be removed from playlists for that? Let people decide for themselves whether they want to keep artists out of their rotation b/c of their behavior.
Trigger
February 3, 2021 @ 11:49 am
That’s an interesting question. I am definitely against censoring someone’s music simply because of their public persona. But similar to radio, playlists are editorial decisions that these companies must make or face backlash from the public and sponsors.
Morgan Wallen’s mainstream career is done. But I am strongly against taking away someone’s ability to earn a living, and any path to rehabilitation. That’s illiberal, and against a major tenet of Western society. As long as Wallen is still able to record and release music, he’ll be fine. As for playlisting, that’s a new paradigm and it’s probably worthy of discussing how we should handle that. Morgan Wallen didn’t rape or murder anybody.

People think country industry as a whole is racist because you have popular songs about the confederate flag, you have stars prominently posing in front of the flag, you have the flag prominently flying at country festivals, you have other stars (Aldean) dressing in black face and facing no industry backlash, you have almost no PoC signed to major label contracts, birtherism supporters, etc etc etc.
Morgan’s incident of course feeds into that perception, and he deserves everything coming to him, but let’s not pretend that this is the first or only incident in country.
Does this mean that all country singers are racist? Absolutely not, but the industry as a whole has to often provided a safe harbor for those who are.

Leaving the “cancel culture” argument aside (a whole other can of worms), I never understand why white people still use the “n” word at all, hatefully, ironically, to sound tough ’cause you heard it in a rap tune, whatever, for any reason at all. Worse yet, I keep reading comments saying “they [black people] say it a million times in a rap song, so why can’t I?” The fuck kind of logic is that? Because it’s not your fucking word to use, ever. I listened to hip-hop obsessively in the 90’s and never fucking dared say the “n” word, even in private while reciting rap lyrics. It’s just not that hard not to say it. It isn’t even part of my vocabulary, sober, drunk, anytime. Since alcohol usually breaks down inhibitions and frequently magnifies personal behaviors that are usually hidden when sober, the fact that Wallen used the “n” word while drunk tells me he’s used the world plenty of times before. Not cool.

Great track. I don’t think I ever even tried to recite those lyrics out loud. As obsessed as I was with hip-hop in my teens, in the 90’s (still love that stuff), I think I just completely aged out of the genre by about 2005.
I could say hip-hop was just better int he 90’s (it was) but I also just grew up and couldn’t relate to it anymore, particularly the lyrics. It’s a young person’s genre. It’s why I gravitate to country more and more as I get older. I relate to the sound and lyrics much more (not so ironically, I hated country as a teen).

Yeah, so much of hip hop is grounded in (righteous) anger, at the world being broken.
The visceral identification with that feeling fades as you get a bit older, and start working a white collar 9-5…although part of why “WGIFH…TY4YS” works so brilliantly is that almost country-esque sense of melancholy!

Cancel cuture is when a vocal annoying minority take exception with somone not agreeing with their current ideology and pressure corporations/consumers to cancel a person.

And up until she admitted that he was the piece of shit that she testified against nobody had a problem with these songs? But the minute she confirms what everyone already knew he gets cancelled?
Marilyn Manson has always been a no talent hack that was famous for his shock value more than any music ability. He much like Morgan Wallen has always pretty much told you who he was so when you get confirmation of what you probably already knew why are you surprised?

February 3, 2021 @ 9:54 pm
Nope, still not cancel culture.
Up until it was made official the label had plausible deniability (“we didn’t know, we thought it was all malicious rumours”).
Its like I can employ a suspected douchebag and get away with it (and can’t legally fire him/her), but once they become a proven douche, I have to show them where the contract says “do not bring down the reputation of the company” and tell them to keep walking.
Corporate decisions are capitalism, cancel culture is when the fans are pressured to stop listening because someone else got offended.

With the Manson situation the fans are being forced to stop listening. The album that was supposed to be released is not being released.
I do think the Manson situation is different than Morgan Wallen. Wallen isn’t throwing the n word around on his records, Manson on the other hand is openly misogynistic in his shitty music and always has been. You can claim plausible deniability with Morgan Wallen, but the hypocrisy of cancelling Marilyn Mason for being misogynistic, when he has never pretended he wasn’t is palpable.

Wasn’t Manson’s album “We Are Chaos” released in September, the one produced by Shooter Jennings? I don’t think they’re holding any album back, but maybe I’m wrong. I do know when it was released, these rumors were already out there, and it received very little promotion because of it.
Coal Powers
February 4, 2021 @ 9:13 am
Yes just looked it up I originally misunderstood it but it appears – pulled the single, no longer promoting the album and dropped him from the label.
But I would still argue that it’s peak cancel culture. He is who he is and he’s never made an attempt to hide it in his (shitty) music. If you were a fan of Marilyn Manson, yesterday’s “revelation” probably doesn’t change that. So he was cancelled because of people who weren’t listening to his music anyway. Yes it was a corporate decision but every decision to cancel someone could be described as a corporate decision in the sense the a company makes the decision.

The problem I have is that MW is too stupid to realize that he has been given the chance of a lifetime. Did he not hear of a thing called Covid before sucking face with the Alabama girls? Wait, that was the same week his label and management worked to get him on SNL. Then, he was going to “go away” and “work on himself.” Within a matter of a few weeks, he was on the CMA Awards getting Best New Artist, the butt end of a few jokes about his bad choices. Next, he gets another chance at SNL, where he not only sings, but gets to do a parody about his “sucking face” activities. Now, he is drunk again, coming home screaming profanity (great dad award!) and caught saying the N word in the middle of the worst race relations time in our country in decades.
This is also a guy that has had the number one song on the Top 200 for three weeks. So, we have to ask, how many times can someone say “I’m sorry” and then keep screwing up? The only sorry you are is that you got caught again being your true self. I hope this wake-up makes him go away and I, for one, am THRILLED I will not have to hear him on the radio every other song. If I never hear “Whiskey Glasses” again, I have already met my quota.
Now, let’s move on to someone else who can find fame and appreciate every second of it!

I’m just thinking about whoever made this video and about Margo Price digging up old pictures on that other fella. C(c)ountry music wasn’t made for the masses. The day the masses stop buying it, is the first day toward revival.
There’s nothing I care about less, than the opinions and culture of WHITE, city-slickers, aged 21 to 38 years old. Getting their purchasing power out of C(c)ountry music can only improve it.

thegentile
February 4, 2021 @ 7:31 am
man, imagine making this about you and trying to play the victim here. if the “opportunist’s” vision is country music without racism, is that the hill you want to die on?
the simple truth is morgan wallen may not represent country music to you or i, because he sucks, but whether or not you like him he is someone people recognize as a country musician. as you can see by this comment section, that’s sort of a moot point. there are so many people trying to justify him using it (you too – he was probably in angry rap mode? lol. non-racists can listen to rap music and not call people slurs in the street) or are just straight up angry that one group of people can say it and they can’t (completely ignoring context).
that you are so up up in arms that a genre is being perceived as racist while ignoring the clear picture your comment section paints is some serious cognitive dissonance. you can denounce all the problematic musicians you want for tainting people’s perception of country, but that’s not going to change the fact that a lot of racists listen to country music, heck country music might be racists’ favorite genre (again, see this comment section).
maybe sit back, sip your beverage of choice, and contemplate on whether or not these things help people’s perception of country music:
1. writing an article denouncing morgan wallen but still making excuses for him
2. giving consistent racists an opportunity to dominate your forum

There is a difference between screaming a racial slur at a person from a marginalized group, and being a drunk moron with your buddies. That’s not making excuses from Morgan Wallen. I have said over and over again that he has whatever he’s got coming to him. And lo and behold, his mainstream career is over.
As for these comments sections, we’ve been over this before. Your eyes tend to gravitate toward the negative. Yes, there are some views here that deserved to be challenged. So challenge them, like you’re doing, including mine if you feel necessary. This is how people learn, by seeing other perspectives, and there’s MANY people here denouncing Morgan. You will never end racism by bannishing people to a place where their views won’t be challenged. That will only allow these bad ideas to fester. And by the way, yes, there have been some racist comments on here—and comment from people against Morgan—that crossed a clear line, and were deleted.

ok ben shapiro, i’m not sure if you’re purposely being obtuse or if you just don’t get it, but like many in this comment section you can’t seem to grasp that a rapper using the n-word with an ‘a’ ending is a completely different thing than someone who isn’t black saying it in any context. it’s not a double standard. you’re just upset that you can’t use the word and someone else does.

you seem to be ignoring the deepest issue which is people find it offensive when non-black people use the n-word. that’s really as simple as it is. don’t say if you aren’t black. coming up with other examples that you think somehow rise to the level of offensiveness (drug use, “being a whore”) does not make this not the case.

If the media wanted to solve racism they’d start with rap music. That morally bankrupt genre gets soaked into the ears of our kids at school, pushed to the top of every playlist and news article, while we try to teach conservative religious values. The 2 genres DO NOT coexist as one is MORALLY BANKRUPT and the other is heavily religion based. Of course country music has taken a turn for the worse as it has adopted the hip hop sound thanks to FGL, as the lyrics became nothing but degrading crap. YET, it’s nowhere close to what is being said in rap music! So good luck getting this segment of people to like the black race…it won’t happen…and there is legitimate reason for it. I realize everyone has to take a PR stance and go against wallen, but to think religious people won’t slip up and let their true feelings come out while they rap about killing white women etc…GOOD LUCK. Let’s put this out there – someone needs to address the 3000 lb elephant in America! So why is it this “word” is socially acceptable in every football stadium, locker room, NBA gymnasium, RAP Artist song/tract, African-American every day speech yet the second a person of any non-brown/black person uses it is not acceptable? Regardless of tone – as in the above situations, that word is slung in good and bad reference within the black community and it is perfectly fine!
Not too mention, the reverse and totally recist ‘cracker’ references and racial slurs slung at white people! Why is that not addressed? Why are these artists not publicly shamed/humiliated and called to the table?!
When did it become socially acceptable to be a racist against anything white and the N word to be a trigger ONLY when said by non-brown/black skin people?
Put a microphone in every locker room, gym, nfl game/practice, players homes/cars, every rap artist recording studio, their homes/vehicles and party spots … let’s really see who is talking trash about whom!!!! Let’s lay all the cards on the table honestly without sensitivity and see where the true hate and racism stems.

You are correct and this is part of the woke narrative today. If I would post some words that black rappers actually have in their songs that gets played over the airwaves, Trigger would delete the post. It would be too offensive. I mean, where in the world are the women singers and their protests over the degrading words rappers use for females? But you see, it is all ok and an expression of art form if a black person uses them. It is what it is.

It’s unacceptable amongst white americans bc for hundreds of years white americans used that word towards a race of people who were trafficked, bought, sold, raped, treated as cattle, murdered, separated from their families, brutalized in every way conceivable while having that word thrown at them in the process. Then, once they were “freed” white America continued to throw that hateful word in their faces while depriving them of voting rights, basic civil rights, labor rights and continued to brutalize their communities. When that was no longer in vogue (we’re talking less than 75 yrs ago) white America still prevented them from accessing education, jobs, healthcare and equal economic and housing rights while still using that hateful word to insult and belittle black communities aND treat them like animals. This type of systemic prejudice is still prevalent in many places today, reflected in American culture and there are people alive who went through it and are still going through it while having that historically brutal epithet thrown their way to harken back to the historic oppression a brutality they were forced into and had to fight their way out of. So for black folks to reappropriate it as a term of endearment and empowetment is much different than white people saying it bc they think it’s cute when neither them, their loved ones nor ancestors ever had it yelled in their face while getting raped, hung or the shit kicked out of them. It’s called historical context and it matters.

This is getting ridiculous. As far as I can tell, Morgan Wallen did not call any black person by the n-word. Looked to me like he called his white friend that, along with some vulgar anatomical terms. And they gave the impression of all being intoxicated.
This is only an issue because nowadays, everything is video/audio recorded.
What artist of the past would have survived p.c. scrutiny if every statement they ever yelled out while drunk and “off duty” were recorded and played for the world.
BTW. I’ve never in my life called anyone by the n-word. The only times I’ve used the word were in quoting other people, like Richard Pryor or Joseph Conrad (“The N-Word of the Narcissu”??’) or in discussing the word itself. I don’t endorse Wallen. I just think this cancel culture is going way too far.

What’s really interesting about this, that I don’t think anyone has mentioned, is that Wallen’s use of this word, and more specifically the way he used it, is actually proof that he’s not racist, as opposed to it being any sort of evidence of racism. It proves that he actively listens to (c)Rap music, and is heavily influenced by modern culture, which is heavily influenced by (c)Rap music. Racism is an ideology, with tenets. You can’t accidentally be racist, any more than you can accidentally be a Jehovah’s Witness.
No self-respecting hillbilly would ever use The N Word in any other way except as a racist, to insult a black person. This is how we know that Morgan Wallen is not truly a product of rural America, nor is he a racist. He’s a white kid, a product of modernity, using The N Word the same way other city kids of all races use it, and I literally mean all races. I’ve seen videos of someone from every race, calling someone of their own race, The N Word. I suppose you could call it insensitive, but I’ve even seen videos of black kids calling their white friends The N Word, and vice-versa.
Anywho, regardless, and as I mentioned earlier, if this causes a bunch of neurotic crybabies to stop buying Country Music, I think that’s a win for C(c)ountry music.

holy moly. you have got to be the undisputed gold medal winner of mental gymnastics because there are so many hoops and hurdles you had to jump through and bend backwards over to arrive at the conclusion that using the n-word proves he’s not racist. it’s like saying that john wayne gacy murdering young men proved he could be a great father.

I’m still listening to his music on Pandora. (HES NOT BANNED FROM ALL) Like people haven’t used that word or got drunk at a bar before. HE IS YOUNG and A DAMN GREAT ARTIST! Actually has a voice better than LUKE BRYAN. Someone else will pick him up. He’s to great for them not to. The world loves to notice other peoples wrongs and point fingers and pick on them but their own they are in complete denial. IT”S PATHETIC!!

What’s the difference in calling someone a idiot or dumb or I ever rapper says it ! So what’s the difference. Freedom of speech is freedom of all speech no matter how other people like or what they think . We live in America where you can say what you want how you want when you want!

another person who fundamentally does not understand what freedom of speech means. freedom of speech means the government can’t stop you, but it doesn’t stop anyone else from reacting to it and it doesn’t stop a lot of the consequences (like being dropped from the radio or your record label). as for equating the words ‘idiot’ and ‘dumb’ to being as offensive as the n-word, you got to be fucking kidding me.

Maybe you, the author, are the “stupid, raging douche canoe.”
Maybe speech is still free, whether you like it or not, maybe f–k your feelings you pathetic, childish, human clitoris, and maybe suggesting that people with one particular skin color aren’t allowed to do certain things or say certain words is as racist as it gets.
Oh, and for your “if you use certain words than certain people who don’t like it have the right to punch you in your nazi face” argument, no, you don’t. You have the right to walk away and stop listening.
And you have nothing more.

I didn’t need to read the comments. I already knew people were going to start with their comparisons & “what about-isms.” White people have no place saying that word, either with the “a” or the hard “er” on the end. So cut the fucking crap, please & thank you.
With that being said, Morgan Wallen doesn’t deserve to be cancelled. But he is deserving of all the consequences he’s incurring. It’s past time to be brutally honest. He’s seen the insanity that was 2020 and to go & use that slur, even if it’s in a joking manner….he knows better. A drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts.

Man, what a sad piece of writing. I seriously hope the author doesn’t get paid by this website to trash a 25 year old kid. Talking about how bad of a father he is. And the comments burning him down. Bet everyone here were saying how good he was two weeks ago. Kid messed up and y’all want to burry him. What a shame. Everyone one of you people bad mouthing him I wish with all my heart you guys had a hundred million people focused on your every move waiting for you to slip up. I bet the author of this piece has cheated on their partner on more than one occasion I would bet money the public would be disgusted at how you treat your kids. Out of fear of this comment not getting approved I won’t go further. Because I’m sure you’ve done some dirty things to people and the world wasn’t watching. Here you are trashing someone just because they live with a camera in their face. You have no right. And I’ll repeat because I mean this with every ounce of my body. This is horrible writing. I really hope nobody pays for this content on their site. There is a 14 year old kid that lives next door I bet he could write a better piece in 7 minutes. Good luck on your career though. While you’re on your high horse helping destroy someone else’s career. What trash. Please reply to my email and we can continue this conversation.

“Bet everyone here were saying how good he was two weeks ago.”
I’ll take that bet. In fact, you don’t have to bet at all. What we were saying about Morgan Wallen two weeks ago was copied verbatim at the beginning of this article.
He’s 27 by the way. Not 25.

The N word is a black man’s favorite word and completely ok for the black community to say. If you remove Wallen, you should remove all rappers who say it 25 times each song.
Black man calls his friend the N word – completely ok.
White man calls his friend the N word – racist and everyone hates them.
Equality for everyone!

If this word is so offensive to black people, why don’t they stop using it themselves? If you black people want white people saying N____ then they need to stop singing about it seventy percent of the rap songs now have black people call each other n____. If the “N-Word” offends you it’s because you let it. Our country has went to total shit in the last 12 years. Freedom of Speech.. you have to take the good with the bad.

I’ve never found it very useful or helpful to lump large sections of humans into large groups and torch them as a whole. That’s bigotry.
Not every country music fan is a Morgan Wallen fan, and they all most certainly don’t condone his behavior.

Lighten up, you’re imperfect as well too. He’s a young guy that makes mistakes like any other. And he owns up to them. You have to look at the context of how he used the word. (1) He wasn’t using it with malice, but was playing around with a friend. NO, he shouldn’t have said it, but so what, get over it. Like you never use words you shouldn’t. (2) He said it with his friend where he was unaware he was being illegally filmed from across the street. (3) He was wasted and trust me we all say words we never do while wasted. So sick of these high and mighty self-righteous P.C. people running around condemning people that say things they shouldn’t. Get over it you flawed and imperfect specimen. The only mistake he made was he didn’t move to a private gated home when he got famous, so he can have a private conversation in peace.

I like him. Let him have his moment. Those without sin cast the first stone and most of you identify as a Christian? No one took away football from those players who made anti Semitic jokes or slurr or worse. This shit is getting out of hand. And if you don’t think Hank or Waylon, or Charlie used this language or was banned from tv…better think again. Morgan, I’m a fan. I will continue to buy your music and request it as long as I can. Because you are more than this petty bullshit snowflake generation. Do your thing!

Wow! Who hurt you? I happen to really like Morgan Wallen. I think he’s pretty good at what he does. Yes he has made an ass of himself, but hey,who hasn’t? The difference is that we “everyday people” don’t have eyes and ears or cameras on us for every min of our lives. No I do not use the N word nor do I surround myself with people who do,jus wanted to get that out there. However,I’ve def said some things n my life that I could kick my own ass for,for sure! I do think that Morgan Wallen is another face that represents Country Music but I do not think he or any one person n the business, are THE FACE of country music. It’s like most other things, many branches and some twisted roots. What I gathered about your article is that u fear that people will have a poor opinion of country music, artists and fans bc of that one stupid choice Morgan Wallen made n saying a very ignorant, ugly word. Well to be. Honest if that becomes the case well those people are jus as ignorant. I will say that he should know as well as understand that with fame, his life will no longer be just that. He will be living under a microscope, even more so now,for as long as he’s breathing. He should also know that there are kids/young adults who probably idolize him so it would be n his best interest to do right by them. It’s been almost a year since this happened. He was taken off most stations for about 9 months or so but now he’s back. Jus about everyone who pulled his music is back to playing it. I actually hold Morgan Wallen to higher standard after all this. He messed up HUGE, promptly went in front of millions of people and sincerely apologized. Had his music pulled probably felt real hate from thousands of folks. I would assume, also felt true fear of being within arm grasp of the stardom u have always dreamed of having being ripped from u. I could only imagine how humiliating, petrifying, and isolating that was. Yet,he’s back,as if he was never, band from Country Music(pretty much). U said something about being his 7th mess up…..who cares? As humans through our our lives making mistakes as well as enduring the consequences and correcting them, when we can. It’s never jus so easy to put a person n a box and label it. Also u made it a point to let ur readers know that He had a child put of wedlock,if that’s to appeal to your more Bible Thumping Christians well your judging a man u personally have never had the privilege of meeting based on the poor choices he has made. As if you have never messed up HUGE, fortunately for you though,u didn’t have the whole world see, hear, witness ur stupid choice. U won’t have the world still whisper about it 60 yrs from now. He may rise back up( looks as though he is)but he will always know that when walks into a room full of people someone is still talking about his mess ups. Maybe u should look a lil deeper into ur animosity and hate for him and figure out what the core of those feelings are.

Well, thanks to your boy Jason Aldean,Morgan’s “N” word gaffe (?) is sort of an afterthought these days. (As a 70-year-old black Canadian man whose maternal grandmother was an Alabama sharecropper,it seems Country music is proving the adage that the more things change, the more they stay the same.)

I guess Marlon Wallen wanted to accidentally kill or injure someone’s relative mom or dad or their little kid and blame it on the alcohol, but he would go on living without being responsible for his actions, or just say he’s sorry and go on with his life. This guy has nothing good to offer the people near him & does not care about other people’s well being. This is the kind of people that folks now days have to live with. What will this rear end do next.
