Newest Additions to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#44)

A few choice cuts have just been added to the Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist meant to keep you up-to-date with latest songs and albums that should be on your listening radar. Leading the pack is the unexpected, yet very welcome return of Sturgill Simpson to the traditional country realm with his song “The Dead Don’t Die” taken from the recently released Jim Jarmusch zombie movie of the same name. It finds Sturgill in top form, and it leads the latest edition of the playlist.

Many are raving about Aaron Watson‘s new album Red Bandana, which offers plenty of worthy candidates for the playlist. “Am I Amarillo” could have been added here, or the recitation called “Ghost of Guy Clark.” But ultimately the sweet country sounds of “Country Radio” was selected from the bunch to show you why you should be paying attention to this important project.

Bloodshot Records artist Jason Hawk Harris will be releasing a much-anticipated record called Love & The Dark on August 23rd, and the lead single from the album “Cussing At The Light” makes the list. And speaking of much-anticipated albums, we finally have the details of the new album coming from Gethen Jenkins called Western Gold. It will be out July 26th, and a new song just released called “Basket Case” makes the list as well.
