Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#63)

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs have just been added.

EDITOR’S NOTE: We have finally added the playlist to Amazon Music (see player below)! Also, Google Play will soon be fazing out and rolled into YouTube Music. The playlist will continue to be supported on Google Play for the moment, but eventually will be going away along with the service, so please make preparations.

Newest Additions:

Joey Allcorn – “Same Old Blues” – This throwback old soul who’s one of the closest reincarnations to Hank Williams we have living today has been out of the spotlight for quite a while, but has just started releasing new songs lately, including this gem off a new EP that will lead up to a full-length album at some point in the future. T.J. Hernandez – “Ditches” – T.J. has a lot of people singing his praises after the recent release of his debut LP Destination Unknown. With a voice and style somewhere between Cody Jinks and Jamey Johnson, it’s music to traditional country ears.

John Baumann – “The Country Doesn’t Sound the Same” – Not your standard and cliche-riddled country protest song, this more thoughtful, reflective, and hushed effort bemoans the passing away of important things in life—country music included—to the onslaught of progress and noise, while resisting the new favorite American pastime of finger-pointing and laying blame. From his upcoming album Country Shade out June 5th. (read more)

Caitlin Cannon – “Barbers and Bartenders” – Caitlin Cannon’s stunning, fiercely personal, and wildly-entertaining new album The TrashCannon Album has a lot of variety among its tracks, but this true country tune about those we rely on to listen to our problems is about perfect for the playlist.

Hellbound Glory – “Renowhere” – Replacing another Hellbound Glory song on the playlist, “Renowhere” is the quintessential Hellbound song from Nevada-dwelling songwriter Leroy Virgil ahead the band’s upcoming album Pure Scum out June 5th.
