Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#112)

2023 is upon us, and that means out with the old, and in with the new to get you ready for a new year of great country music.

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs just added.

Newest Additions:

Jered Ames – “Neon Night” – Few songs get those 90s country vibes as right as this one does. A regular perform at Tootsie’s and Alan Jackson’s AJ’s Good Time Bar on Lower Broadway, Jered Ames has studied and played all those old classics, and puts what he learned in this super entertaining track.

Kasey Lee Rogers – “Let It Play” – Kasey Lee Rogers has been kicking around the Midwest for a few years now doing what he can to keep traditional country alive in the hearts of listeners, but he’s finally released a set of studio singles, including one of his signature songs called “Let It Play.” Get this guy on your radar now, and when he’s ready to release a debut LP, you’ll already be well-acquainted.

Rattlesnake Milk – “.38 Special” – The premier underground cult heroes of country music are back with a new album called Chicken Fried Snake, and though you won’t see any talk of them on end-of-year lists beyond here at Saving Country Music, rest assured they are an apex band when it comes to instilling soul in music.

Wynchester – “Camioneta” – Mike Bray and John Konesky of Wynchester bring their Southern rock influences to a Charlie Daniels-style blazing supernatural country song about encountering a demon of the road. It’s the perfect driving song with a dose of acrobatic twang that is sure to get the blood pumping. “Camioneta” is the first taste of a new album expected in 2023.

Adam Pope with James Carothers – “I Was The Train” – James Carothers joins Adam Pope on this song that traces the influence of the locomotive and its lonesome whistle on country music throughout the years, with assists from guitarist Brent Mason and Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie McCoy on harmonica.

Zachariah Malachi – “Final Stage of Hank” – Zachariah is a throwback old soul if there ever was one, and this might be the perfect moment to present this song to the world as we near the 70th Anniversary of the departure of Hank Williams on New Year’s Day. The writing of Zachariah Malachi citing those tragic events really speaks to his devotion and deep study into the life of Hank Williams, and the depths of depression he’s trying to evoke in the song.

Felicity Urquhart, Josh Cunningham – “Something Good” – This duo from Australia may seem like unlikely candidates for the playlist, but with their second single in a row, they have earned inclusion here for the authentic country sound and quality writing, this time utilizing Western swing. Expect an album from them coming in 2023.

Wylie & The Wild West – “Straight Up Country Music” – For over three decades, Wylie Gustafson and his band Wylie & The Wild West have presented some of the best of country and Western music with not nearly enough fanfare behind it. Their new album Bunchgrass is as good of a starting point as any, and this song singing the virtues of true country and decrying the modern sound is music to the country soul.
