The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to. New songs have just been added.
Newest Additions:
Evan Felker feat. Carrie Rodriguez – “Whiskey in Your Water” – The Turnpike Troubadours may currently be on an indefinite hiatus, but their frontman has just released a great new song written and recorded right before their pause featuring Autsin singer, songwriter, and fiddler Carrie Rodriguez. It’s being released as part of Bruce Robison’s The Next Waltz project on the The Next Waltz Volume 2 compilation out November 29th.
Cody Jinks – “Never Alone Always Lonely” – Cody Jinks pulls off the rare feat of having two songs on the playlist simultaneously, and it’s only fitting since he just released two separate and exceptional records. From the second one, The Wanting, “Never Alone Always Lonely” is another touching song to match up with “William and Wanda.”
Stoney LaRue – “Drowning in Moonlight” – The Red Dirt legend just released a new album called Onward, and wrote this emotional gem with Gary Nicholson. One of the standouts from a very solid record.
Grayson Jenkins – “Cowboy Dream” – From Grayson’s upcoming Cowboy Dream EP out November 15th, this well-written song features Jesse Wells from Tyler Childers’ backing band “The Food Stamps,” as well as Sturgill Simpson’s drummer Miles Miller.
Miranda Lambert – “Dark Bars” – If you want to look for the best song on a mainstream record, start with the last track. That’s most certainly the case on Miranda’s new record, Wildcard. Co-written with Liz Rose, this might be one of Miranda’s best songs ever.

Seriously why do you never talk about Micky and the motorcars? I mean this in a nice way though I’m not trying to start anything here. They release thier first studio album in almost 6 years and we nothing from ya. Now I know there are some issues with the vocals but I thought you trig would be all over this man. They are some of the best out there performing right now and are responsibly popular so I guess I dont understand the radio silence. Now if you have something planned later in the week I’m sorry for running my mouth. But I just believe a song like Long Time Comin’ or “Lions of Kandahar” deserve to be added to this list

I discovered Micky and the motorcars earlier this year when I saw them live.

I am exactly the same as I also discovered Micky & the Motorcars after seeing them live earlier this year! It was a case of right place, right time. It was a brilliant show and I will enjoy listening to them for years to come. I am looking forward to hearing their new album, but am going to see if I can hang on until I can get to another live show to buy it.

I appreciate your passion for Micky and the Motorcars. I can assure you that I’m not ignoring them, and their latest record is on my radar and being considered for review, or perhaps featuring on the playlist. But Stoney LaRue just released his first record in five years as well. Miranda Lambert released a big record. Erin Enderlin, Ags Connolly, and others also released records on Friday. And that was a comparatively light release day considering some others we’ve experienced lately. This speaks to just how difficult of a task I have trying to cover everything. I try to cover as much music as I possibly can.
Also for the record, I have talked about Micky and the Motorcars on numerous occasions, including this year. They were featured in my coverage of the Wild Hare festival this summer, and Micky was in the headline picture from the review of the Charlie Robison tribute at Mile 0 Fest in February:

I needed a guilty pleasure, Jerry Reed Smokey and the Bandit, Truckin’ album. The Further Adventures of the Franklin County Trucking Company hit the spot. Thank you for the spotlight on some of the acts I would not hear about otherwise.
