Newest Adds to Saving Country Music’s Top 25 Current Playlist (#90)

Well damn, the summer of 2021 didn’t exactly turn out like we all had planned. But country music is the crutch we all lean on when times get tough, or heartbreak and disappointment creeps into our lives. So here’s a newly-freshened selection of some the best country stuff just released.

The Saving Country Music Top 25 Playlist is built to keep you informed on all the best songs and albums coming out right here, right now in country and roots music. It’s available on most all streaming formats (see below), or you can just use the song, artist, and album recommendations to find something new to listen to.

Newest Additions:

Garrett T. Capps – “The Devil Inside” – Not nearly enough is being made about this Garrett T. Capps album I Love San Antone. Just a great, fun record cover to cover, and so much so this is the 2nd selection from the album to be put in the playlist, and right near the top where it belongs. Eat enchiladas, and listen to Garrett T. Capps.

Charles Wesley Godwin – “Lyin’ Low” – One of West Virginia’s premier songwriters on the rise, Charles Wesley Godwin’s sophomore solo album How The Mighty Fall will be out November 5th, and the first song from it has us frothing with anticipation. Don’t set your “Best of 2021” lists until you’ve heard this one.

Summer Dean – “Can You Hear Me Knocking” – Summer Dean’s Bad Romantic is the kind of country record you wished some of your favorite women of country would cut, but never do. It’s got that denim and bell-bottom 70’s honky tonk country vibe going on strong, unabashedly twangy and country, with a dash of funky energy and attitude to ratchet up the cool factor. Summer’s honesty and self-awareness come through in her songs, and it’s as refreshing as it is relatable.

Billy Strings – “Know It All” – Billy Strings is such a creative dynamo, you have to worry that at some point he will just vaporize into the ether and become more musical apparition than man. But his new album shows that what still tethers him to the physical world is a mostly pure form of bluegrass, and we’re here for it. His new album Renewal is out now.

Will Banister – “Find a New Home” – The story of this song is the story of independent songwriter and traditional country singer Will Banister getting his big break. “Find a New Home” opens the new Clint Eastwood movie Cry Macho, and has thousands trying to track down who this amazing country artist is they have never heard of before, but that sounds so eerily familiar (read more).

Charley Crockett – “Just So You Know” – Freshening his spot on the Top 25 Playlist with this selection from his recently-released album Music City USA, Charley Crockett continues his consistent rise that has put him at or near the top of popularity and approval in country and roots music.

Travis Feutz, Crystal Leigh – “Missouri Line” – The Missouri-based Travis Feutz grew up listening to classic AM country on the radio, and now is seeking to make his living revitalizing the art form he fell in love with, including the classic country duet, which he performs with Crystal Leigh on this original song ahead of his debut EP Country Music Forever out October 29th.

Cody Jinks – “I Don’t Trust My Memories Anymore” – Cody Jinks was already country, but this might be one of the most country songs he’s cut in his strong country music career. Classically-written but still fresh feeling, it gets you excited for what else is in store when he delivers his new record Mercy on November 12th.
