Randy Travis “More Life” Documentary Wins Six Telly Awards

The documentary on Country Music Hall of Famer Randy Travis called More Life has won six Telly Awards across multiple fields, including two Gold Telly Awards. The film focuses on the final moments before Randy’s stroke in 2013 and his life subsequently. First premiering on The Circle Network on February 10th, More Life was made available for download on iTunes in April, and has also been released in full in seven different installments on YouTube (see below).

The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work created within television and across video for all screens. The More Life wins include:

What started out as a TV Special celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Randy’s debut album Storms of Life took on a greater significance when the moments and performances became some of the final ones in Randy’s career before his health setbacks. Hours of performances and interviews were collected, including the last footage of Randy Travis performing signature hits such as “Deeper Than The Holler,” Diggin’ Up Bones,” “Three Wooden Crosses,” and some of Randy’s last moments before he was impaired by the stroke.

Also appearing in the film is Randy’s wife Mary, Warner Music Nashville executive Martha Sharp who gave Randy his first record deal, Randy’s longtime producer Kyle Lehning, as well as Josh Turner who performs in the film. More Life was directed and produced by Shaun Silva and Tacklebox Films with WMN’s Shane Tarleton and Mike Dupree serving as executive producers.

“Though this documentary began as a 25th Anniversary special, it quickly pivoted into a chronicled celebration of life’s setups and setbacks, after my massive stroke in 2013,” says Randy Travis about the film. “The planned few months of composing, turned into 10 years—Mary and I thank the perseverance and patience of the wonderful team that waited and believed in it until completion…the ones that care and protect the legacy of my music.”
