Remember The Name “Ian Noe,” Music Fans

If you’ve been paying any attention to country music over the last few years, you know to be paying attention to just about any performing songwriter hailing from Kentucky. It’s the state that has given us Tyler Childers, Dillon Carmichael, Chris Stapleton, Kelsey Waldon, and Sturgill Simpson just to name a few over the last few years. The Bluegrass State has been downright fueling the country music insurgency, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

But that’s not the only reason you need to be paying attention to Beattyville, Kentucky native Ian Noe. This young man is about to go international if everything lines up right, which circumstances seem to be conspiring to do. A folk-style songwriter with a compelling voice reminiscent of Gary Stewart, Ian Noe released a mostly-overlooked four-song EP in 2017 called Off This Mountaintop, and started touring around with well-established Canadian folk singer Colter Wall, including in Europe. If you’ve heard or seen Ian Noe before, opening for Colter is probably where you were first introduced. And just like Colter, Noe’s received a ringing endorsement from Aquaman actor Jason Momoa.

Now Ian Noe is getting ready to release a full-length debut album called Between The Country on May 31st distributed by Thirty Tigers, and has released a new version of his song “Irene,” which initially appeared on the 2017 EP (listen below). Underscoring just what kind of respect Ian Noe is receiving from his peers, and how good folks think he is, Ian will be opening for Blackberry Smoke, John Prine, Son Volt, and Jamestown Revival leading up to and after the release of his debut record.

Saving Country Music caught Ian Noe performing at Folk Alliance in February, and the oozing authenticity, penetrating stories, intensity, and palpable performing magic you want and expect from an artist like this was all evident. If you dig on Tyler Childers, Colter Wall and the like, then you’ll definitely will want to have you antennae perked for Ian Noe.

Debut album Between The Country can now be pre-ordered.
