Sarah Shook Releases Tons of New Tour Dates – New Video
Sarah Shook and the Disarmers have arguably the most badass record out there in country music right now with Years on Bloodshot Records, and they’re also one of the most badass bands to step foot in a dive bar and see live. Saving Country Music already highlighted how the band will be hitting Sweden and surrounding countries for the next month or so. Now they’ve put a bunch of localities from California to Tennessee on warning they’ll be rolling through town and trying to drink them dry.
The dates also include multiple festival appearances this fall, including the Wildwood Festival in Oregon, the Muddy Roots Festival September 2nd, The Hopscotch Music Festival in North Carolina September 8th, The Pilgrimage Festival in central Tennessee September 22nd, and then off to Bristol Rhythm and Roots September 23rd.
This might be one of those bands you’ll be kicking your own ass for not seeing in a smaller venue when you had a chance before they start selling out big clubs. So pony up, pawn the kids off on the in-laws, and listen to some good ol’ country music with swear words. From North Carolina, Sarah first started making noise in country music with her debut record Sidelong. Now she’s considered one of the most hard-edged and gritty country artists out there.
Sarah has also just released a spanking new video for the song “The Bottle Never Lets Me Down.” You can see it after the long-ass list of tour dates.
Drink responsibly.

First time I saw Sarah Shook was a Tuesday nite.
Another show, I had to drag wife too. We are both so happy we went. Her and her band are badass. I think there were 60 people.
Saw her a couple weeks ago on a Sunday nite 100 people. Late show.. About an hour before the show, I found out Zeph O’Hara was opening. Another f’in supercharge set from Miss Shook. We were with some friends, who were just out for the nite, they were blown away.
I am so happy I can now go see her on a Friday nite.
Go see her, support her.. Does not disappoint. She is a performer that just channels something live, she is intense, and a whole lot of f’in fun.
She really is the one artist I would love to see take off..

Sadly I missed her recently in Washington DC, glad to see she’s going to The Purple Fiddle. I’ll try for that one.

The closest to us is Cleveland. I’m tempted to make the drive.

Saw her about a month ago at this little basement bar in NYC. For 10 bucks(!). And Zeph Ohora opened for her. The show was amazing. Both her and Zeph. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why it was only $10. Place was packed. Band was killer. Show was awesome.

She is coming to this place in Sweden: http://www.brokendreams.se/live-at-broken-dreams/ Only about 15 minutes drive from there I live. And the tickets are ridiculously low only 75 Crowns ($8,60) As a comparison, the beer’s costs between 69-800 Crowns…And they have several hundreds beer of different brand. (Including over 200 beer of different American brands) Here is their “Beer Menu” http://www.brokendreams.se/files/olmeny_18-01-12.pdf
But I still not sure if I will go because this place is all about drinking beer. And there will be a LOT of drinking And I’ve got both a bad back and lung illness ( COPD, due to heavy smoking for 48 year now) so I will probably not go. But one thing is for sure if this had been only 10 years ago I would absolutely loved it…
Love that video, she really has a very special voice and sure as hell knows how to use it …

Sorry for again being a bit off topic..
There’s also another event happening close to there I live…
At the ninth of June this mini-festival, Dalhalla Roots, will take place about 45 minutes
drive from there I live: https://www.dalhalla.se/Evenemang/dalhalla-roots-2018/
But sadly there has not been many tickets sold. Despite names like Jim Lauderdell and Kris Kristofferson with three of the musicians from Merle Haggard’s old band accompany him.
Also, Kris has a historical connection to this area of Sweden.
His grandfather was born in small village called “Nås” But later moved to a village called Stora Tuna and soldier was a soldier at a regiment just about 25 minutes drive from where I live called Rommehed. Some of the older military buildings are still well preserved. In the lower right part of this photo, http://www.lindebilder.se/details.php?image_id=38033&sessionid=b7ng1toabmadcp0jafvbu5a3p7 .
His grandfather’s name was Lars Christoffersson and emigrated to America in 1904 and changed his name to Louis Kristofferson . A year later his vife, Elin, joined him. And in June 22, 1936 Kris was born

Sarah Shook is amazing, she has some of the best new country music out there. But I’m so annoyed. I’ve had two chances where I could have seen her, once when I was going to Nashville and now she’s coming to nyc but both times the venues have been 21+. (I’m 17). I guess, at least I can be happy listening to Sarah Shook on my phone and knowing I don’t listen to the same pop shit that other kids my age listen to.

We feel you Juliet. Most of us around here were fighting those struggles at 17.

I don’t know, fake IDs we’re easier to make back then. Now they have multiplied the number of holograms and stuff. Poor kids.

I’ll be checking out the Denver show. Now I’m bummed I pre-ordered the vinyl since I prefer buying at the merch table when I have the opportunity.

My friend actually has a connection who says he can make fake ID’s for $150. The only thing is, my mom, the person who introduced me to good country music, says that she can’t let me go with a fake ID. And I couldn’t sneak out and see Sarah Shook without my mom. I wouldn’t want her to miss that opportunity.

Juliet, that sounds awesome that you and your mom share an appreciation for good music. Hopefully you’ll get an opportunity to check out some of your favorite artists together come next year.

This is REAL . This is country . How great would it be to hear this song in regular rotation amidst the muck and mire clogging up mainstream right now ? Great live energetic REAL vibe to the whole thing …amn ….THIS is so missing from country radio ….but I’ll say this . The only person who comes close to this kind of raw , passionate honest COUNTRY delivery at times is Miranda .

Not sure how I get this, call it some esoteric intuition, but I get the sneaking suspicion that she likes whiskey.

I’ve never really listened to her, but this song is pretty awesome. I may have to give her a chance and pick up this album. And they were spinning a Buffalo Trace bottle, so give them bonus points from me.

If you missed the Sidelong album you missed a really good one there, too. The SJW jab maybe
matters to some folks – she’s a bisexual vegan single mom and tends to say what she thinks.
I’m a homophobic cackalacky cattle farmer and probably should hate her, but she’s singing country songs in local redneck bars wearing a ball cap, and I’m pretty busy hating less talented folks today.
Anyways, I love The Nail, Dwight Yoakam, and the title track from Sidelong – give it a spin…

Surprised there isn’t a single Chicago show on there. I know she was here in early May but seeing as her label is HQ’ed here I had hoped I could remedy missing her. Sad!

They kicked ass last night in Atlanta.
At $12.50 it was the bargain of the century.
Until we see Jason Eady for $15 next weekend.
