For 29 years now, the annual gathering of established and up-and-coming folk, roots, country, blues, and bluegrass musicians known as Folk Alliance has been like a fulcrum of the independent music industry, offering support to artists looking for opportunities, and showcasing some of the newest talent for managers, labels, booking agents, and publicists in search of the next great artist. Folk Alliance is where folks like John Moreland and Parker Millsap first found traction in their careers, and where the world discovered Dori Freeman and others.

Not your conventional music festival, Folk Alliance is held at the Westin in Kansas City, with artists setting up in hotel rooms to showcase their music for other artists, the industry, and fans in intimate performances. There are also seminars and public speaking events throughout the week-long event. Folk Alliance also takes a decidedly international approach, attracting performers from all over the world to participate, and occasionally moving the conference to other countries to help spread the folk gospel.

In 2017, Saving Country Music is pairing up with the Berklee College of Music, Hearth PR, Grassy Hill Entertainment, and Dollartone to present the annual Sweet Beaver Showcase in Suite #743 of the Kansas City Westin. Each evening of the conference, the showcase will present many of the up-and-coming and established acts helping to keep the spirit of folk, country, and bluegrass alive, and Saving Country Music will be on site to cover it all. Along with individual performances, the Sweet Beaver Showcase will feature artists “In The Round” together, trading licks and stories in collaborative moments that many times birth the best Folk Alliance experiences.

Dollartone has assembled a preview of all the performing artists, with a short bio and video of what attendees can expect, and you can find a full schedule for the showcase below.
