Shooter Jennings Signs as Concord Label Group Staff Producer

Shooter Jennings has signed on with the Concord Label Group as a staff producer who will work closely with Concord’s Chief Label Executive Tom Whalley as a creative executive to develop the current roster, and identify new talent. Concord owns numerous imprints important to the country and roots realm, including Rounder Records, Fantasy Records, as well as Fearless Records and Loma Vista Recordings.
“I am excited to welcome Shooter to the Concord creative team,” said Concord’s Tom Whalley in a statement. “His ability to work with a variety of artists is a perfect fit for our labels and their talented rosters. I look forward to not only working with Shooter, but witnessing the impact his creative passion will have on bringing high quality recordings to the world.”
The son of Waylon Jennings won a Grammy Award for co-producing Brandi Carlile’s By The Way, I Forgive You in 2019 with Dave Cobb, and then another in 2020 as the co-producer with Carlile on Tanya Tucker’s comeback record While I’m Livin’. Numerous records Shooter produced have also been released in 2020 to critical acclaim, including American Aquarium’s Lamentations, Jaime Wyatt’s Neon Cross, Hellbound Glory’s Pure Scum, and The White Buffalo’s new album On The Widow’s Walk. Shooter also produced the new Marlyn Manson album We ARE CHAOS.
“To have the opportunity to join this [Concord] family is really a dream come true,” said Shooter Jennings. “I now find myself with so many more opportunities and resources to make the impact on music I have always dreamed of. Right off the bat, I am grateful for this. I am now looking forward to all the ways I can apply myself and my abilities alongside this great, global team to make great music and keep the world of music that grabbed me at such a young age growing, healthy, youthful, experimental and wild so that it might snatch up another generation of kids like me. I couldn’t be happier with the folks I’m surrounded by, and I’m lit up with excitement for all the work we’re going to be able to do together.”
Shooter has also worked with Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Fifth on the Floor, and Guns n’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan as a producer.

-Now I know why I wasn’t impressed with any of these records. The title track on Neon Cross was the only track off these albums that made it in my rotation.

Maybe your rotation is shit…you ever think of that?

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Sir Adam – Only negative wave I’m seeing is ones that reach up and over the jetty. As for it being beautiful, yeah I can get with that!

Sir Adam,
Ole’ Donald Sutherland was hilarious in that movie.

Try checking out the White Buffalo before you spout your ignorant opinion.

I think the Neon Cross album ROCKS, in its entirety!!! Maybe because “I’m just a woman” too!
Anyways…. Great news for Shooter and his crew, thankful he’s been working to put great music out there and especially for helping put Tanya Tucker back in the mix too! He has been so underrated so long, glad to see he is being appreciated somewhere!

Just listened/watched Shooter with Duff McKagen perform “Down In A Hole” by Alice In Chains. It was good. Didn’t try to match Layne’s vox which was wise. Very good cover though too to bottom.

Good for him. His latest (country) productions were quite good.

I am not into his music, but I have to give the guy credit where it is due
His choice of music on his Sirius/XM show has turned me onto more new artists than any other website or radio show; he has a great ear for good music
He can spot talent as well understands what we as outlaw fans are looking for
I will be paying attention to what he has going on with this project

He has a great musical sensibility, some artists he doesn’t quite fit their style but I love his stuff still. This is cool.
