The amount of cancellations tied to the Coronavius outbreak can be dizzying to keep up with, even within the confines of the independent country and roots realm. But a few important cancellations are worthy of note.

Though most of the dates for the big Sturgill Simpson/Tyler Childers “A Look Look’n” arena tour are still moving forward, The Anthem in Washington, D.C. has just postponed both the sold-out show on March 15th, and the show on March 16th due to Coronavirus concerns.

“D.C.’s Mayor Bowser has just recommended that gatherings of 1,000 or more people be suspended until March 31,” the venue said on Wednesday (3/11). “After tonight, to be cautious, we are postponing all I.M.P. events scheduled at The Anthem. Shows will begin again April 1.”

There is no news at the moment of when the dates might be rescheduled. Saving Country Music has checked with all the other venues on the current Sturgill Simpson/Tyler Childers tour, and all other shows on the are moving forward as scheduled at this time.

However, the show at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH on March 20th says they are monitoring the situation. “We are monitoring the impact of COVID-19 in our community and are in continual contact with local, state and federal partners. Our top priority is always the health and safety of guests, fans and staff. At this time, this event is proceeding as planned. We continue to monitor the situation.”

The Nationwide Arena is the same venue the Zac Brown Band was scheduled to play on Friday, March 13th, but the event has been canceled along with the entire spring leg of Zac Brown’s current “The Owl Tour” due to Coronavirus concerns.

Mike and the Moonpies have been forced to cancel all the dates of their upcoming European tour due to the the Coronavirus outbreak. There are fourteen dates in all (see below). “The band is deeply disappointed about this news and currently working with Sedate Bookings to reschedule the dates in October and November 2020. Newly rescheduled dates include shows in Amsterdam, NL on October 29th at Paradiso and London, UK on November 22 at Omerara.”

These are just some of the many cancelled tour dates in the country and roots realm. On March 10th, Goldenvoice announced that both Coachella, and its country counterpart Stagecoach will be moved to the fall due to Coronavirus concerns. Stagecoach will now take place the weekend of October 23rd. Rodeo Houston has also postponed the rest of the season that was scheduled to run until March 22nd. Similar to the cancellation of SXSW in Austin, it came via a decision by the mayor, not by the organization itself. However unlike Austin, the Houston area has numerous cases of Coronavirus tied to community spread.

Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Brad Paisley, and Luke Bryan were all scheduled to perform at Rodeo Houston in the coming days.

Some events still moving forward are Rodeo Austin, as well as numerous unofficial events tied to SXSW week in the Austin area. Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion at his ranch outside of Austin has confirmed they will be proceeding on Thursday, March 19th, along with many other unofficial events. Saving Country Music is currently compiling a directory of the unofficial SXSW events still moving forward relevant to the country and roots realm.

Beyond the SXSW time period, Old Settler’s Fest set to take place April 16-19 just outside of Austin says they are also planning to move forward, but are continuing to monitor the situation.
