Sunny Sweeney Earns Additional Dates Opening for Bob Seger

Texas country singer and songwriter Sunny Sweeney is getting some massive opportunities to win over arena crowds as one of the primary openers on Bob Seger’s big farewell tour. And she’s been doing such a killer job, her run of shows has just been extended.

The Saving Country Music Song of the Year winner for 2017 was first added to four shows on the Bob Seger Final Tour opening in Albuquerque, NM at the Tingley Coliseum, the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, The Ford Center in Frisco, TX (near Dallas), as well as the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, LA, March 12th. Now she will be trekking with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band to Florida for shows at the Amalie Arena in Tampa on March 15th, and the BB&T Center near Ft. Lauderdale on March 17th.

The dates come just as Sunny Sweeney was cycling off opening for regular tour mate Cody Jinks, and ahead of playing her own run of shows late March through June (see dates below). This isn’t the first time Sunny Sweeney has opened for a massive country star. In 2017, she was tapped last minute to be the opener for Garth Brooks at Austin’s Auditorium Shores as part of South by Southwest. She then later played with Garth at a show in Lubbock, TX on April 1st, 2017, and had also played on a Garth Arena show back in 2016 in San Antonio.

Once signed to Big Machine Records as one of the label’s very first artists, Sunny Sweeny didn’t fit the Nashville mold just right, eventually venturing back to Texas, and releasing the well-received Trophy in 2017.
