Texas DJ Justin Frazell Pleads No Contest to 2nd Assault Charge

Former Texas music DJ Justin Frazell has plead No Contest to an indecent assault charge stemming from a December 22nd, 2020 incident in Denton County. It was one of two incidents of a sexual nature that the radio personality had been charged with in the last 14 months. Frazell also plead guilty to the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl as part of a plea deal in Tarrant County in April.

After entering the plea on Wednesday, June 1st in the indecent assault case, Frazell was sentenced to 18 months of deferred-adjudication probation with 80 hours of community service. This means Frazell has now avoided jail time in both cases.

On December 22nd, 2020, Justin Frazell was at the Lucky Spur Ranch Retreat in the Denton County community of Justin for an episode of his Texas Red Dirt Roads series. Later that evening, a woman who attended the event told authorities Frazell entered her bedroom wearing only a shirt and underwear, and started fondling her while she was laying on the bed on top of the covers next to her date. The woman told Frazell to stop and he left the room, only to return later wearing only underwear. Frazell left again when the woman woke her date up.

The accusations came to light after Justin Frazell was indicted in the Fort Worth suburb of Mansfield on an aggravated sexual assault charge, and a lesser sexual assault charge. Frazell had hosted a party at his Mansfield home on New Year’s Eve 2021. A teenage girl was there with her family, but decided to stay the night at the house where Frazell lives with his wife and two children.

Justin Frazell later entered the bedroom where the teen was sleeping. She woke up with Frazell reportedly pulling her blanket back and performing sex acts on her without her consent. When another child in the house entered a nearby bathroom, Frazell stated he was checking on the teen, and eventually left the bedroom. The teenage girl then began texting relatives to come get her. She told her parents about the incident, who called the police.

On April 13th, Justin Frazell was sentenced to seven years of deferred adjudication in the sexual assault case after pleading guilty. Frazell was also ordered to register as a sex offender, and is forbidden from owning firearms, or using drugs or alcohol for the duration of the sentence. According to the district attorney, the victim and her family agreed to the terms of the plea deal.

Justin Frazell was fired from his job as a radio morning show host at 95.9 The Ranch in Fort Worth on March 29th, 2021 after the allegations surfaced. Frazell had worked at the radio station since 2009. Before working at 95.9 The Ranch in Fort Worth, Justin Frazell had worked at 570 am KLIF in Dallas starting in 1996, and worked as a traffic reporter and weekend host for country station 99.5 The Wolf starting in 1998.
