A long-time morning DJ at one of Texas music’s premier stations has been accused of rape by a teenage girl after she attended a New Year’s Eve party at his Fort Worth-area home. Justin Frazell was the award-winning weekday morning radio host of 95.9 The Ranch out of Fort Worth since 2009, and began working at the radio station in 2000. The Ranch has fired the DJ after the allegations. Co-host Heather Anderson will continue in her role at the morning show where she has been since 2019.

According to the arrest warrant from police in the suburb of Mansfield—just south and east of Fort Worth—Justin Frazell hosted a party at his Mansfield home on New Year’s Eve for his family and other friends. The teenage girl was there with her family, but decided to stay the night at the house where Frazell lives with his wife and two children. The alleged victim was a friend of one of Frazell’s daughters. The teens were allowed to drink at the party, and were hanging out together in one of the rooms of the house. The teenage girl then stayed overnight at the house after her parents and other guests had left about 2 a.m., FaceTiming with a friend in the bedroom.

Then according to Mansfield Detective S. Peacock’s warrant statement, Justin Frazell entered the bedroom, gave the teen a White Claw alcoholic drink, kissed her on her forehead, and told her, “This is between us. Don’t say I never do anything for you.” Eventually the teen fell asleep, but woke up with Frazell reportedly pulling her blanket back and performing sex acts on her without her consent. When another child in the house came to a nearby bathroom, Frazell stated he was checking on the teen, and eventually left the bedroom.

The teenage girl then began texting relatives to come get her at about 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Frazell went back to the bedroom, but the accuser told him to leave her alone. A relative eventually picked the teen up at the residence, and she told her parents about the incident, who called the police.

The victim then went to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and a sexual assault exam was performed. Specimens were taken and sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis. According to the affidavit, investigators received lab reports back on March 18, 2021, that confirmed the presence of male DNA samples collected from the victim.

After conducting multiple interviews with witnesses and collecting the DNA evidence, police filed an arrest warrant for Frazell, who was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on 2nd-degree felony sexual assault charges on March 24th, and later released on bond.

95.9 The Ranch released a statement over the accusations, saying:

It is with great concern that we have learned of a serious legal matter involving Justin Frazell, who has been booked on sexual assault charges in Tarrant County, TX. While the matter is entirely unrelated to his work here at 95.9 The Ranch and does not involve any of our other colleagues, we nevertheless concluded that given the seriousness of the matter it was appropriate to suspend Justin immediately. We trust that our legal system will provide due process and produce a just result for all involved. In the meantime, we ask that they be given space and privacy during this difficult time.

Then on Monday (3-29), the radio station confirmed, “Based on additional information that has come to our attention, 95.9 The Ranch has terminated its relationship with Justin Frazell, effective immediately.”

Before The Ranch, Justin Frazell worked at 570 am KLIF in Dallas starting in 1996, and was a traffic reporter for country station 99.5 The Wolf in 1998. Frizzell has been regularly nominated and awarded by Texas radio organizations for his work at The Ranch, and has hosted and sponsored numerous charitable events at hospitals for premature babies after his two children were born premature.
