Thomas Rhett Falls Off Stage in Virginia
See, this is what happens when you have poorly-coordinated white doofuses with about as much soul as a solid state amplifier get up on stage and try to pretend they can move like Bruno Mars. We’ve already seen Luke Bryan eat it numerous times, and it was inevitable Thomas Rhett would be heading into the Stage Fall Hall of Fame now that he’s decided to become a dance first, and sing second “performer.”
“I took a couple of lessons. Not necessarily dance lessons, but working with a couple of choreographers a little bit on how to work in front of a camera, and more actual stage movement,” Thomas Rhett told Taste of Country back in September of 2015. Well maybe he should seek more advanced guidance because Friday night (2-19) while opening for Jason Aldean on the “We Were Here” Tour in Charlottesville, VA, Thomas Rhett left his mark on the front row when he took a dive into the crowd while singing his incredibly shitty booty shaker “South Side” penned in part by Chris Stapleton. Thomas Rhett appeared to get “Tangled Up” (arf arf), then went all “Crash and Burn” into the crowd.
Perhaps Rhett should second guess the fashion choice of wearing candy apple red Keds like a 14-year-old girl while performing on stage. Plus the fabric of his skinny jeans is cut so tight it gives his lower body about the dexterity of a straitjacket.
Yuck it up, fuzzballs.
@ThomasRhett I captured you falling off the stage tonight on video, definitely the highlight of the show pic.twitter.com/VZWWL7xF5p

I hope he smacked his mouth so strongly he won’t ever be able to sing again.
Have you listened to his new single T-Shirt? It’s an insult. He makes me become cruel and wish he could become voiceless.

His voice is hard to listen to. You could give him a great song and he’d ruin it with his voice. I’m glad he sings crappy songs. He’s not good enough for a good song. He’d ruin it.

That’s what happens when you have to try too hard to sound good. I doubt Waylon or Willie ever fell off the stage.

Wait just a minute.
Solid state amps can be great. I have an old Dean Markley solid state and it kicks ass. My friends that swear by tube amps are always shocked by how great it sounds. Plus they’re lighter and easier to maintain.

Not sure if it’s either of these videos but I caught a retweet on Twitter last night how the girl was so lucky he fell where she was standing. She caught it on video.
It may be funny now and he laughed it off as being ok and a goofball move. Truthfully I don’t think we would wish this one anyone. Could’ve been much worse.

Are these guys still wearing skinny jeans on stage? You might as well tie your legs together. Credit where credit is due though, way to keep going with the song despite the fall (whether anyone actually wanted him to keep going…)
Also, what is a 50-65 year old man doing in the audience? What 55 year old man enjoys South Side? What the hell is he clapping at? Is he clapping at Thomas Rhett falling? Something tells me he didn’t come because he wanted to…

I understand people not liking his music, especially on this site. But I must say, I am perplexed at why you are attacking his character by suggesting he is not a nice person. Has he kicked a dog or something. Please enlighten me.

Being willing to admit my choice of words was wrong and/or misconstrued, I’ll rephrase it this way:
He just couldn’t have looked or acted more foolishly if he tried. This was truly…well, pathetic is the only word the comes to mind. It’s bad enough that what he’s doing is the epitome of bad bro-country hipsterism, bad white boy rap; but to pretend that he can dance just makes it all that much worse.

He’s guilty of posing as a country singer. I have no problem with him or his music, only that him and others make money off of calling it country when it isn’t.

i agree with you and erik above, but none of the things you identify as his crimes against country music or good taste in general suggest that he is not a nice person. I think people on this site weaken their argument against these types of guys and what they are doing to country music by making it an attack on them personally. i see this most often with Jason Aldean, he is describe by the commentators on this site as a “douche nozzle” and generally thought of as an asshole. He may or may not be, i don’t know him and cant be bothered to read about him. He makes music, so i listen to his music and judge him on that alone as much as possible i see the same type of personal attacks elsewhere directed at the two primary bandleaders of the Eagles, Henley and Frey. For a long time i bought into all the hyperbole, they are coke heads, they fired Don Felder because they want all the money for themselves, the reunion was a cash grab, their music was calculateed and a rip off of other country rock innovators, etc. Then i watched the documentary on them, and realized there were two sides to the story, and their side was more believable. Lets focus on pushing guys like Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton et al to make the quality country music that we all actually know they are capable of making. i cant say much about Bryan or Shelton, i only know a few songs and don’t care for them, but all but the most jaded on this site have acknowledged that Aldean has numerous good country songs and its really his choice of singles, especially of late, that really offends. Lets leave the attacks on them as people for more low brow sites and focus on the fight for good country music.

I didn’t say he wasn’t a nice person. I’m only criticizing him being marketed as country when he’s not.

Ha! I was reminded of the Luke Bryan incidents earlier in the week. Carrie Underwood was on Talking Dead and they closed the show by asking her which music star would she like to have with her if she got stuck in the zombie apocalypse. She responded by saying that there are a lot of big strong guys in country music that know how to take care of themselves and she would probably take Luke Bryan. I immediately thought of him getting his truck stuck in a pond and falling off the stage. Her second choice would probably be Thomas Rhett!

Wow, isn’t he on the same label as TBP? Right when TBP started doing their crossover nonsense, Neil started wearing tennis shoes and both him and Neil and Kim clothes got crappier. It was like their sense of style went out the door trying to be hip. That may be what is happening to Rhett. If he is on the same label and listening to same people that TBP has he too may be in the process of becoming a “pop tart”.

THIS is why stages need to be surrounded by lava moats.
And why stages for certain “performers” need greased.

I have some photos of Tracy Lawrence falling off the stage last year. And while I like much of his music, I thought it was karma: earlier in the evening he totally disrespected Ronnie Millsap, with whom he was sharing the concert headline.

The sad part of this story is he got back on the stage. Thomas Rhett is everything bad about music today. Its sad. His first album minus the Front Porch Junkies song was pretty good. Beer with Jesus is a great song. I thought he might help bring back a more palatable form of country. Then Tangled Up came out. What a piece of garbage. When he released that album, is the point he didn’t just fall off the country stage but he fell off any musical stage with any real music being played.

I agree, I used to follow his career before he got on the map. He had a rootsy country sound with a bit of rock and roll thrown in. Since then all the country got sucked out and replaced with pop. I think he just sold out so he could be a mainstream star.

Wow,since he didn’t get hurt, this is hilarious. Still, bad music and idiotic dancing aside, credit where is due. He did react pretty well. He didn’t stop singing (other than while he was falling) or put the song on hold while he climbed back up on the stage to dance around like Justin Timberlake some more. He kept singing while he was down there, tapping his foot along, and seemed to have a pretty big smile on his face, so he was able to laugh at it. Either that or he really is such a puppet that he reverted to base programing like a T-1000 and tried to continue his mission of watering down and bastardisiing country music at all costs.
