Well well well. Get ready to grow your mullet out, bust out your old pair of Levi’s nut huggers from high school, and be ready to party like it’s 1989, because after a pretty astounding 13-year hiatus of no proper single from Travis Tritt aside from promotional stuff and guest appearances, one is headed our way on September 25th called “Ghost Town Nation.”

Written by Aaron Raitiere and JB Strauss, and produced by Dave Cobb, “Ghost Town Nation” is said to be about making the best of a bad situation, which may make it a timely selection for the months ahead. “Well, I tell ya one thing that we all got in common; we ain’t gotta worry when the sky starts fallin’,” Travis sings. “No need to panic when the lord comes callin’, cause it’s all just a part of the show. We’ll load on up, take it out to the woods, where the fish are still biting, and the eating’s still good.”

Travis Tritt announced in mid March that he had signed with the Big Noise Music Group, and was working with Dave Cobb as producer on a new album—his first of original music since 2007’s The Storm. Tritt also let it slip in February that he’d been writing with Brent Cobb and Adam Hood for the new record.

Tritt says about the new single, “I loved the overall groove of the song when I first heard the demo, but what really hooked me was the lyrics. At a time when so much of the country was on pandemic lockdown, I think the idea of escaping to a secluded spot in the woods was very appealing for a lot of folks. It reminded me of a ‘country folks can survive’ theme. I personally know a lot of folks that still do this regularly.”

Travis Tritt was a massive star in his heyday, selling more than 30 million records, and becoming of a member of the now legendary “Class ’89” which took country by storm and helped set up its resurgence throughout the 90’s. But after releasing six platinum and multi-platinum albums for Warner Brothers and Columbia Nashville, mainstream country moved on, as it has done from many artist from the 90s era.

However the resurgence of interest in 90’s music could put Travis Tritt back on more sure footing. He was recently featured on the single “Pick Her Up” from Dierks Bentley’s Hot Country Knights project, and was also featured last year on a rock single from Cory Marks called “Outlaws and Outsiders” that became a Top 10 on rock radio.

No word on when the new Dave Cobb-produced Travis Tritt album will be on the way, but news may accompany the single release.
