The tour bus of country star Travis Tritt was involved in a fatality accident late early Saturday morning (5-18) as he was leaving a performance at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina’s House of Blues. Neither Travis Tritt, nor anyone on the bus was injured, and the accident was not the bus driver’s fault. However two people died and another was injured after a vehicle side swiped the bus. The vehicle at fault was driving the wrong way, and alcohol was reportedly also involved in the accident.
“We were just involved in a fatal accident with a driver going the wrong way on Veteran’s Highway as we were leaving Myrtle Beach,” Tritt said early Saturday. “Thank God we are all okay. I feel so bad for those who died needlessly tonight. I’m really shaken up by what I witnessed. God bless those who died … We sustained minor damage as we tried to avoid the crash site in front of us. Bus damage can be fixed, but lives cannot be replaced. I’m so incredibly sad for those who lost their lives tonight.”
Travis Tritt went on to say, “I’m told that two people were killed in tonight’s accident as the the result of someone who was obviously driving drunk or impaired. Just a sober reminder to everyone to never drive if you’ve been drinking or impaired in any way. Uber or Lyft is just a phone call away.”
According to Horry County Fire Rescue, they responded to the multi-vehicle accident at roughly 3:30 early Saturday morning. The other vehicles involved were a Jeep and a pickup truck. Tritt made his scheduled appearance at the Anderson Music Hall in Hiawasee, Georgia on Saturday evening without issue. He’s currently on the Outlaws and Legends Tour with The Cadillac Three, and Charlie Daniels on select dates.

We were sideswiped in a fatal accident with a driver going the wrong way on Veteran’s Highway as we were leaving Myrtle Beach tonight. The Jeep driver hit a pickup truck head on right in front of us. Thank God we are all okay. I feel so bad for those who died needlessly tonight. I’m literally shaken by what I witnessed. God bless those who died and their families. Two human beings died tonight for no reason other than stupidity. I’m saddened beyond belief!
