Turnpike Troubadours Announce Return Shows at Familiar Venues

Well, if you got doubled up on getting screwed out of tickets to see what many thought was the official return of the Turnpike Troubadours at Red Rocks in Colorado on May 14th and 15th, your prayers for more opportunities to see them have been answered, and for many, those opportunities will be much closer to home.

Announced on Monday morning (1-10), the Turnpike Troubadours will perform in three separate engagements ahead of the two night stint at Red Rocks, including at venues that have become synonymous with the Oklahoma-based band, and where fans will have a more intimate experience.

The official return of the Turnpike Troubadours will now be at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma April 8th and 9th. Near their hometown of Tahlequah, this is the stage that arguably launched the Turnpike Troubadours. This will be the show everyone will want to be at, and so to try and limit ticket resale, Cain’s will have a four ticket purchase limit, and tickets must be sent via mail or picked up in person at the venue.

Then on April 22nd and 23rd, Turnpike will be at Bill Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, a.k.a. The Biggest Honky Tonk in the World. This has been another important stage for the band over the years. And then on May 6th, they will play at Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, near San Antonio. Turnpike’s Dia Del Gallo events at this venue have been the stuff of legend over the years.

While the newly-announced events will give hungry Turnpike Troubadours fans even more opportunities to see them after their multi-year hiatus—and after so many got locked out from tickets to Red Rocks—some others may grumble that they went hard towards Red Rock tickets expecting those shows to be the first official ones back, including perhaps paying high prices to scalpers.

The simple truth is that the Turnpike Troubadours have grown in popularity and prominence significantly since their hiatus. Whether it was the distance making the heart grow fonder, or time exposing the sheer potency of their music to have been even more powerful than we knew before, this is where were are, and the band is being forced to attempt to meet that unexpected and elevated demand upon their return. More shows were a necessity.

And there will likely be even more than this in the future, and perhaps a new album. But going back to their Texoma roots, and some of the venues that helped put them where they are is the only proper Turnpike Troubadours return, while those lucky bastards with Red Rocks tickets will still get to see them in one of the most majestic venues in the United States.

The general sale for all shows will be on Friday at 10am CST. Pre-sale for Floore’s Country Store will be available for email list subscribers beginning on Wednesday at 10am CST. Floore’s tickets will also be limited to six per person.
