Turnpike Troubadours Cancel Show in Corpus Christi, TX – Details

The day after the Turnpike Troubadours canceled an appearance at the Centurlink Center in Bossier City, Louisiana with Stoney LaRue last minute for undisclosed reasons, the Oklahoma-based band has now canceled a scheduled appearance in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Concrete Street Amphitheater for Saturday, October 27th. However the show will still go on.
***UPDATE: The Turnpike Troubadours Put Current Tour On Hold***
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Turnpike Troubadours will not be appearing at tonight’s concert,” Concrete Street Amphitheater posted just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday (10-27). “All tickets will be honored at the gate. If you would like to sit out the party and get a refund, refunds will begin on Tuesday at the box office.”
Co-headliners The Randy Rogers Band will still be playing, as well as Flatland Cavalry who were scheduled to open the show for the Turnpike Troubadours. Flatland Cavalry will be playing an extended set, and Steven James and the Jaded have also been added to the bill. Music is scheduled to begin at 7:00.
No explanation for the cancellation has been given by the Turnpike Troubadours or their management, nor has any explanation been given for Friday night’s cancellation in Louisiana where the venue was opened, the crowd arrived, and even the gear had been set up on stage before the announcement was given the show had been canceled, 40 minutes after music was scheduled to begin.
Saving Country Music has reached out to Turnpike Troubadours representatives for more information. As soon as additional details are made available, this story will be updated.
The cancellations come after a string of recent cancellations by the Turnpike Troubadours due to frontman Evan Felker suffering from kidney stones, and another undisclosed personal issue involving a member of the band. However the band made a triumphant return at the Medicine Stone festival in late September, and have played other shows since without issue.
The band’s next scheduled appearance is at the Athenaeum Theatre on November 1st in Columbus, Ohio.
October 27, 2018 @ 11:23 am
Evan was a mess at St. Patrick’s show in Cincy. Now I’m guessing I won’t be seeing them in Columbus…
October 27, 2018 @ 2:39 pm
Sounds like this talented guy needs treatment. I hope he realizes it, because only he can make that decision.
October 27, 2018 @ 11:30 am
This is just an absolute shit-show. Lol
October 29, 2018 @ 3:24 pm
Another “GHOSTING ?”.
Dang, ghosting to the next level.
Maybe this is acceptable to Evan whether he does it to his (now ex) wife or fans.
October 27, 2018 @ 11:34 am
Let’s go back to September. Remember Miranda Lambert’s statement: Happily Single.
Miranda Lambert saw what was going on and Ran! Good for her. Oh, notice no more crazy from Evans EX wife? SERIOUSLY, Evan had issues before and it continues.
October 27, 2018 @ 11:50 am
Miranda was happily screwing Evan when he was married and drunk. Calling his wife crazy is victim blaming. She had every right to speak out about her husband and Miranda.
We have no idea what’s going on now so try not to gloat too hard.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:54 pm
No, Miranda ran from this wreck.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:18 pm
And there you have it.
October 27, 2018 @ 2:20 pm
You are ridiculous. She is absolutely complicit in what happened.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:00 pm
Pistol Annie’s show at the Ryman was pretty amazing. 😀
October 27, 2018 @ 6:13 pm
Who gives a F**k Cilla. This isn’t about her. This is about one of the best bands out there. About one of the most talented songwriters today. No one knows what’s going on. Least if all you. Sorry Trig.
October 27, 2018 @ 6:17 pm
Obviously you do since you need to use Foul language.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:33 pm
Miranda pursued a married man, promised to make them the modern day Johnny and June, and taunted his wife on social media. She threatened to fire him from the tour when he tried to go home to his “crazy” wife on multiple occasions. She called the wife 10 times in one night when he was trying to go home. Everyone involved has PLENTY of problems, but let’s take a big easy on giving Miranda ANY credit in this shit situation.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:04 pm
WOW, you were there throughout it all huh?
October 27, 2018 @ 2:29 pm
Julia, And what did Evan Felker or Miranda Lambert charge you for going on tour and having some fun.. You have such a great story here, you should run to the Tabloids . Girl you must get out more and have yourself some fun. You just sound too desperate. Maybe have a little fun with TxMusic. This Evan/Miranda thing will get the best of you both. Don’t hate on people that have a life.Go get yourself one.
October 27, 2018 @ 4:01 pm
I know yall wany to reserve judgment, but common sense says that julie is 100% correct. Act like yall never dealt with trailer park drama before.
October 28, 2018 @ 5:18 am
“but common sense says that julie is 100% correct”
lolololololololol
October 27, 2018 @ 4:41 pm
You actually believe tabloids. What’s wrong with you. No one has any idea what happen and Miranda didn’t flaunt anything but seems like it’s good that she didn’t get out of this mess..
October 27, 2018 @ 5:02 pm
Yea I think that people instead of giving all this money to see the no-shows you should support more local musicians who are every bit as good and as far as Maranda she did not write Tinman they Ripped that one off
October 28, 2018 @ 7:14 am
Now where did this come from… bringing up TIN MAN, the song written by Miranda, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram. Where did you hear they ripped it off. Don’t start it was Kenny Chesney’s song. No way would Kenny agree with such a thing.Kenny and Miranda are great friends with great respect for each other. Crop of BS. Think God Miranda doesn’t let people like you bother her in the least. She didn’t become a SuperStar by sitting on her ass crying about the gossips . When there is talk about her we know she has made it…She has made it!!!!! Learn to spell her name if you’re going to throw out remarks about her. Got to keep her name out there!
October 28, 2018 @ 10:06 am
She caused the damn mess!!!
October 28, 2018 @ 12:53 pm
Well, you sound like a big girl that knows whats out there. Go take care of The Mess!!! Power to You!
October 28, 2018 @ 2:24 pm
Most ridiculous comment I have ever heard…Glad she doesn’t have fans like you and has plenty like me…
October 28, 2018 @ 2:27 pm
Last time I checked Evan is a grown man to make his own decisions. Stop blaming Miranda for His problems that I really hope he gets help with. But blaming her is absurd
October 27, 2018 @ 11:41 am
I love this band’s records, but they’re really reaching a Morrissey-like level of unreliability when it comes to performing. I hope the guys are all doing alright, but I feel bad for the disappointed fans.
October 27, 2018 @ 3:19 pm
While these recent cancellations are disappointing, I will say I saw them earlier this month, and they put on a great show and hung around after to talk to the fans. Wishing them and their families all the best in whatever is going on.
October 27, 2018 @ 11:52 am
If the problem is Evan I really hope he ha speople lookingnout for him and pushing him into long term detox.
Like him or not watching talented people throw their lives away is a sad thing.
October 28, 2018 @ 5:21 am
Funny, you never seem to extend the same olive branch to Miranda, who you routinely trash.
October 28, 2018 @ 3:24 pm
Evan is suffering from alcohol addiction. Please tell me what addiction Miranda is suffering from so I can send her well wishes.
October 29, 2018 @ 6:42 am
I answered you at the bottom of this page. Miranda’s new video is out. Bet you’ve already watched. GREAT If you were a nice person you would send your best wishes to Evan…Hate Miranda, but this article is about someone else at this time…
October 29, 2018 @ 6:49 am
Bitch, please. She could be suffering from schizophrenia or multiple sclerosis for all you and your faux feminism would give a shit. You’d still drag her ass on this website daily.
October 29, 2018 @ 8:41 am
So she’s not suffering from anything then I take it?
October 27, 2018 @ 11:57 am
The group – mostly Evan Felker – is becoming the No Show Jones of this era.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:05 pm
Oh, fuck right the fuck off of your high fucking tower. It’s one bad stretch in a decade-plus career. Everyone has that bad stretch, Turnpike’s career just happens to be a very public one. I’ve had bad days/stretches at work too, but nobody cares enough to write about them.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:21 pm
The one bad stretch is on how many years out of that decade now?
October 27, 2018 @ 12:27 pm
Less than one. Less than half of one.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:52 pm
https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/fans-speak-up-after-numerous-drunken-performances-by-turnpike-troubadours-evan-felker/
January 6th, 2016 … nearly 3 years ago!
October 27, 2018 @ 1:12 pm
What hoptown posted. Most news about them for that time has been Even drunk, cancelled shows, banging Miranda, broke up, cancel more shows.
October 27, 2018 @ 12:24 pm
Jim Bob (with the potty mouth),
It’s been a couple years now. I think Trig first reported about Evan’s drunkenss two years ago… well before a dumpster fire show I saw in April 2017. And all this past summer. It’s more than a “bad stretch.”
October 27, 2018 @ 12:59 pm
The original point I disagreed with was “no show jones,” not “drunk george forgot the words a couple times.” I miss the good old days when words had meanings and people had basic elementary level comprehension abilities.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:50 pm
All the fucks distracted anyone from comprehending any coherent message from your post.
October 27, 2018 @ 2:00 pm
How is your selective reading my fault?
October 27, 2018 @ 9:36 pm
Once again, this has been an issue. Come on man, they have a problem, obviously. They or the lead singer…something is off here. Shit!
October 30, 2018 @ 1:27 pm
It’s been a problem on and off for a very long time. I took some friends to see them in 2012. They had never seen them before and I had been talking Turnpike up for months. Evan was so drunk that night he almost fell off the stage. Forgot words and at times just stopped singing altogether. My friends had a terrible time and I was humiliated. Turnpike is my favorite band, I’ve seen them upwards of 20 times over the years and most of those shows were great. But there were a few really awful ones where Evan was either spaced out or messed up, and those shows seem to be more and more frequent these days.
October 27, 2018 @ 8:14 pm
People don’t travel 800 miles to see you work.
October 27, 2018 @ 10:45 pm
If you have to travel 800 miles for a show then move-you clearly live where dreams go to die.
October 28, 2018 @ 11:04 am
I really don’t get the hostility here. It’s just the facts. Who else in country music is even canceling half this many shows?
October 28, 2018 @ 7:02 am
“The group – mostly Evan Felker – is becoming the No Show Jones of this era.”
Minus the talent, or the C(c)ountry Music.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:18 pm
I miss the days when people didn’t move the goalposts all the time, too.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:19 pm
Supposed to be a reply to Jim Bob.
October 27, 2018 @ 8:04 pm
I miss the days when people could properly respond to a comment online.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:20 pm
Well I guess we can conclude with reasonable certainty that the venue in Bossier was not the issue.
October 27, 2018 @ 1:36 pm
Whats happened to his ex wife, Haven’t seen one of her Tabloid Stories as of late. Her instagram fanbase has slowed. Poor Evan, with his talent he can go when and where he’d like. Make a change, people do it everyday. You are too good to throw it all away. One of the best songwriters in music…………..
October 28, 2018 @ 1:27 pm
No money in it for the wife without Miranda.
October 30, 2018 @ 12:56 pm
Staci said last night” she went to work”. “She has a traditional job” And to all if you picking on her for the way she reacted to what happened this year “it sucked. A lot” and she’s over being the “poster child of being dumped”. Time for someone else. You know she had every right to stand up for herself when that fiasco was going on. She took on a big money PR team and fought back.
November 10, 2018 @ 10:35 am
Look, a Staci Stan. Now I understand.
October 27, 2018 @ 2:37 pm
Maybe he finally met a problem he can’t outrun.
October 27, 2018 @ 2:52 pm
Bummer, I was looking forward to seeing these guys at a venue I have never even heard of here in Columbus Ohio
October 27, 2018 @ 2:55 pm
No matter what the issue, the band’s management either needs to try to clean this up better rather than hide as the PR is killing this band or if they are tired of it happening, move on and let someone else try to sweep it all up.
October 27, 2018 @ 3:15 pm
They likely need to find new management with a stronger PR skill set. I don’t think this is Cory McDaniel’s strength, and I’m sure neither he nor the band thought they would need this level of management when their relationship began.
October 27, 2018 @ 3:36 pm
saw them a few weeks ago in Atlanta and it was great, Charley Crockett was just as great, and have tix for the Knoxville show in a week or so.,.hope they get it back between the lines by then…
October 27, 2018 @ 4:44 pm
Wish I were wrong, for Evans sake, about my posts last night predicting this. Big picture, the band needs to cease all touring until whatever issues are fixed. This is ridiculous and the fans, Evan and band members deserve better. Yes they are on a hot streak right now, but I’m pretty sure that if they take 6 months or so off, TT fans are loyal enough to be there when they return. Management and the other band members need to put their foot down.
October 27, 2018 @ 5:20 pm
Yes it is a bummer. In my opinion they are one of top three if not the best band out there. Each album is better than the next….Shit happens! Hope everyone gets well and continue delivering bad ass music!
They were badass at Red Rocks in June.
October 27, 2018 @ 5:32 pm
I love their music, and he is a gifted songwriter. Praying for him, I hope he finds his way..
October 27, 2018 @ 5:39 pm
The touring cycle for the most recent album is reasonably over, so just stop, take a long break, let everyone sort out their issues and get better and then start fresh on recording a new album. That would be a better strategic time out than the current situation.which is resembling a train wreck. Maybe the whole team and management need to take a break and reassess.
October 27, 2018 @ 5:40 pm
Saw them last Saturday with Charley Crockett and they better than solid. No drama, no drunkenness. Hell, Evan was animated even. Not quite BJ Barham, but he wasn’t just staring into space, singing into the mic like he is a lot of times. Was my first time seeing Charley, but won’t be the last. He brought it. It was a good time to be in Philly. Saw Tyler, Jamey, and TT all in the span of one week. Oh, and Jamey only played about 4 or 5 covers…
October 27, 2018 @ 6:00 pm
I listened to Jamey’s set for Farm Aid and I was shocked he played his own music… even “The Dollar”!
October 29, 2018 @ 1:00 pm
Ughh I had tickets to TT Philly show but was sick so I couldn’t make it. I hope I get to see them around here again someday. Also went to TC the week before and he was great!
October 31, 2018 @ 12:20 am
Charley is GREAT! Saw him in St. Louis in front of about 50 people but the boy played like it was 50,000. I got a little too “Felker-wasted” but was able to have a little chit-chat with Charley after the show. “Boy, you drunk” was his greeting to me.
October 27, 2018 @ 7:27 pm
For the life of me I do not understand why most country acts need to become drunks and/or dope-heads and then go through recovery (aka McGraw, Urban, and a host of lesser-knowns). I cannot imagine the culture and pressure, but it seems like to me that is is almost expected of them. I know it’s not limited to the country genre. Seems to me like a few things should be expected and anticipated by these entertainers.
Kinda’ like deciding to do this as a career and then they sing about the woes of the road. Hey, it’s what they singed up for.
Can’t there be a better preparation for this kind of life? Maybe not. A sad situation but one where I can’t feel sorry for the culprits.
October 27, 2018 @ 7:56 pm
The gifts of creative types often lend to corresponding burdens that make them more susceptible to self-destructive behavior.
October 27, 2018 @ 10:08 pm
People that have never been addicted to anything will never understand Trigger. I don’t care for TT music like you all do but I hope the guy gets the help he needs even though I think they’re the most over rated band on SCM.
October 28, 2018 @ 9:54 am
Well, hopefully the help he gets will be from someone with a balanced approach of tough love AND understanding. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, and probably best if it’s not as one sided and enabling as “other people just don’t understand man.” Creative types can still make choices and we can point to many who didn’t make that choice.
What’s interesting to me is that many country music fans embrace the whole outlaw – whiskey – hard drinking – mythology that has a strong history in the music, but then act surprised when it catches up with someone.
All that said I hope for the best, and no, they aren’t overrated 🙂
October 27, 2018 @ 7:49 pm
Their show in Raleigh was less than impressive, I knew more lyrics than Evan that night. Charley Crockett though was awesome
October 29, 2018 @ 6:46 am
I saw them in Raleigh too. Show definitely got worse as Evan kept hitting the red cup. He also left the stage to let RC do a song or two. I have no idea what their final encore was?
October 29, 2018 @ 7:34 am
RC and the rest of the band sing one song without Evan every show.
October 27, 2018 @ 8:07 pm
Been to multiply TT shows over the years. Been cancelled on twice already this year. Have tickets for this upcoming weekend show. Whats odd of a cancellation? Has to be greater than 50/50 at this point. I hope they get it together. I have some non TT friends I am taking to the show. Been talking them up for months. Trying to convert non-country fans. Not a good start. Just disappointing.
October 27, 2018 @ 8:42 pm
I was going to get Philly tickets, but decided not to. They’re getting too unreliable. I wish they would get off the road, get help, and come back when healthy. No clue what demons are being battled, but it sucks for them, their crew, the venues, and the fans.
October 27, 2018 @ 8:57 pm
And here we go!
October 28, 2018 @ 5:43 am
Open request to TT I have tickets to Saturday’s show in Indianapolis. If substance/addiction is the issue. Please seek help, postpone my show Monday morning, I will survive and be awaiting a healthy TT. I personally would rather wait 6mos to see a recovering stronger TT, than to be let down.
October 28, 2018 @ 7:16 am
Well, when they bring out a bottle of whiskey on stage and drink from it freely, you can eventually expect problems to arise in the future.
One would think that enough history has shown the bad affects of too much drinking on a music career.
October 28, 2018 @ 8:41 am
Any stimulant, or depressant (chemical substance) constantly consumed can lead to dependency- the results speak for themselves. We rarely learn from History- the results speak for themselves- Trigger stated a truism- “The gifts of creative types often lend to corresponding burdens that make them more susceptible to self-destructive behavior.” It seems to be condoned and excused, if not expected, even anticipated. The people they surround themselves with are, to a degree, responsible for the behavior and the money involved encourages it. That is an environment, often confused with “corresponding burdens”-
Back a few mos ago when Cody Jinks began hitting his stride I expressed my concern for his continued behavior leading to the “self destruction” phase- everyone is wired differently, some are wired weaker than others in the chemical abuse arena. In some it is genetically inherent, for some it is environment, for many it is availability and encouragement from peers and hangers on- some can over come, some can’t. Those who can’t don’t live to tell the tale.
October 28, 2018 @ 9:58 am
One would also think that NOBODY who has seen pictures of what meth does to the human body would ever even look at it. But here we are…
October 28, 2018 @ 2:52 pm
Please keep these updates coming. Have tix for Charlotte in a few weeks. Really hope if this is a substance abuse issue it gets sorted. These guys have too much talent. I do think they need a better PR/MGMT team to keep the fans informed. Sounds like a shit show with the communication with the fans. Hoping they pull it together and take a long hiatus. The road can be tough and full of temptations. I remember traveling with rock bands back in the day and it was a wild ride. One frontman went missing in NOLA and we had to search the city for him before the show. Turns out he was holed up with a woman who was not his wife.
October 28, 2018 @ 4:00 pm
I would think the way you speak of Miranda, you’d surely have her number. Just you remember what ever kind of addiction Miranda has it will never affect you. She could care less about you, why are you so into Miranda. Wasting your time. Sounds as if she may have been getting to close to Evan for your taste. Miranda has been busy making lots of money since her tour. She’ll be all over tv this week. Catch her on GMA, Jimmy Fallon Show and more. New Video coming for you to check out Monday morning.Give Evan a call he may watch with you. He just may pass on your well wishes to her. You see I like both Evan and Miranda
October 29, 2018 @ 5:38 am
Why, is Miranda name being brought into this? That has been made clear she is single. We have no idea what has happened, unless you know any of these people personally and know what is going on. It’s called gossip. Evan and Miranda are both entertainers that is there job. Personal life, unless you know them personally you have no idea what went on with with. Just because its on social media does not make it true, regardless who is talking.
I wish the TT the best of luck and hopefully whatever it is will be taken care of.
October 29, 2018 @ 8:14 am
This TxMusic seems to really be into Miranda to act as she hates her. Being a long time fan of Miranda, after checkng out these TT Boys, I like their music. I was wishing for some great music from Evan and Miranda.Who knows, may come yet!
October 31, 2018 @ 5:40 am
Patty
I am a fan of Miranda and TT. I think you and I are on t he same page.
October 28, 2018 @ 8:29 pm
I have tickets for their second show in Austin in December 1st but now I’m kind of thinking it’s in Evan’s best interests to take time off to rest and get healthy. I saw them in Helotes at Floores this past April when all this Miranda drama was just starting…Evan seemed in great spirits but yes I could tell towards the end of the show he was likely drunk. Wishing them the best.
October 29, 2018 @ 5:24 am
This is all Lorrie’s fault. Clearly.
October 29, 2018 @ 7:30 am
You try singing with a broken jaw.
October 29, 2018 @ 11:55 pm
Turnpike has always made me proud to be from Oklahoma but this is getting out of hand and i honestly feel a bit bummed about the current climate the band seems to be weathering. it has really hit close to home for me (not making a pun or joking in the least). i’m deeply concerned for Evan in particular and the whole band as an extension. If this has to do with Felker’s alcohol problem and other recent events i hope that he seeks help soon. I do not want to see another talented man f**k his life up. Jason Boland is a party animal but he keeps his s**t together. I know this is all speculation but i really feel that Evan is in a very dark place right now. Kidney stones are often caused by severe dehydration and alcohol is often a large contributor to this ailment. i’m sorry to all of you who had tickets for these cancled shows. I hope whatever is going on gets resolved before something serious happens. i feel like one of my favorite bands is dissolving. that being said, i wish for the good well-being of all members of the band, crew, and their families. even if TT never releases another album, personal health of the guys is both mentally and physically far more important for them and all who are closely impacted here. i hope this gets sorted out soon. i’m getting worried. 👎
October 30, 2018 @ 5:32 am
Hey Trigger, any update from the TT camp?
October 30, 2018 @ 7:25 am
None. And I have been in contact with them. They’re saying nothing.
October 30, 2018 @ 9:30 am
They’re done.
October 30, 2018 @ 10:34 am
I’m just praying/hoping that everything will be alright whatever it is.
October 30, 2018 @ 10:56 am
Thank you, I have tickets for Indianapolis Saturday evening. Purchased day 1 of availability. Would really appreciate a heads up from TT concerning my weekend. I am hoping all is well with them health wise. It is dishearting on this end as a fan. There is help to be had, once a person realizes that they need it.
October 30, 2018 @ 11:15 am
Agree on all fronts with regards to health and well being of the band. In the mean time, it would be nice if they would let those who have tix to this weekend(s) show(s) if they will be performing or not so we can plan accordingly.
October 30, 2018 @ 1:15 pm
They just posted an update on Instagram
October 31, 2018 @ 9:50 am
Too bad they blocked so many from Instagram during the Evan/Miranda nonsense. Many of us were true fans but no longer.
October 30, 2018 @ 1:44 pm
I had tickets to the columbus ohio show and recieved this email. Hopefully after they take some time off and get things sorted out they will be back on the road.
We’re sad to announce that Turnpike Troubadours are cancelling this Thursday’s show. They plan to reschedule at some point in 2019. In the meantime, Ticketweb will issue you a full refund for you purchase. THANK YOU so much for supporting live music.
A message from Turnpike Troubadours:
“First and foremost, you are the reason we get to do what we do every single day, and we want you to know how much that means to us. There have been many discussions on what to say publicly, and it is our unanimous opinion that our fans are our family, and there is no need to sugar coat anything. Living this life on the road has so many ups, but, like in all life situations, there are also battles and struggles with which you learn to deal. The one core thing our band has always had is a tight family unit. The love we share with our entire team: our band members, road crew, business team and fan base feels very much like family. When one of us is down, we are there to lift them up and help them down the road. Right now, we have a situation that needs our complete attention. For the time being, we need to put our tour on hold through November 29th, and make sure our family member is able to address something much more important than our ability to perform live. We do NOT take this incredible blessing of playing our music for our fans all over the world for granted. As much as we would all would love to keep touring, we love our family member more and need to be there to make sure he is able to conquer the issues with which he is struggling. He has our support 100% and we will be here to walk beside him and carry him if needed, no matter the outcome. We love all of you from the bottom of our heart and hope to get back to doing what we all love, which is making and performing our music for you – Our extended family – as soon as possible. As our good friends always say, “family first,” and we have to be there to make sure that this family is taken care of before getting back to business. Thank you for understanding, and we are so thankful for the support you have shown us and continue to show us while we take some time to heal.”
October 30, 2018 @ 1:44 pm
Saw them perform earlier this year. They were amazing. I wish the band the best and hope everything works out for them.
