Turnpike Troubadours Put on “Great” Show in Lincoln After Cancellations

Not that daily updates upon the doings of the Turnpike Troubadours are necessary, but with the recent “touch and go” nature of their tour schedule, and the band’s timid efforts at communication, many fans and ticket holders for upcoming shows have a vested interest in staying up-to-date with just how they’re doing.

The good news is that the band’s show in Lincoln, Nebraska at The Bourbon on Thursday (2-14) went off without a cancellation or delay, and was a great and energetic show according to numerous concertgoers who Saving Country Music spoke to following the concert. It was their first show back after the latest rash of cancellations.

After the band cancelled a performance at Chicago’s House of Blues at the last minute on January 24th, it led to multiple cancellations from the band, including shows in the Midwest, and a headlining performance at Mile 0 Fest in Florida. However the band has confirmed all of their upcoming performances, including an appearance at Rodeo Houston on March 2nd.

The Turnpike Troubadours opened the Valentines Day show with “The Housefire,” and then went straight into their big songs “Every Girl” and “7 and 7” as they have been doing often in most of their recent set lists. Evan Felker played “Diamonds and Gasoline” solo acoustic, and bass player RC Edwards led a song. They encored with “Pay Not Rent” and “Bird Hunters.”

As for the turnout after all of the recent cancellations, The Bourbon announced a sellout for the show, and the room was packed. Attendees said that Turnpike did not address the crowd very much, about the recent troubles or anything else, which is not atypical for the band. Instead, they just launched into one song after another in a high energy show.

Turnpike’s next appearance is Friday, February 15th at the Buffalo Run Casino & Resort in Miami, Oklahoma, and then on to a show in Waco, TX on Saturday. You can find all of their confirmed dates below.
