Tyler Childers Adds To 2019 Tour Dates & Festival Appearances
You get the sense that Tyler Chiders is sitting right on the cusp. When you mention his name, there is an energy behind it that charges the air, like you know he’s someone ready to break out in the biggest way at any moment. When he releases a new record, it could be a monumental event, and have reverberations throughout country music, and for years to come.
One thing feeding all of this energy and anticipation is watching how Tyler’s tour dates are unfolding, with new dates having to be added to meet demand, shows selling out left and right, and his inclusion on one festival bill after another as promoters look to feature the next best thing before he blows up so big, they can’t even book him. Festival appearances may be your only opportunity to see him in some instances as club and theater shows are often selling out immediately.
Tyler Childers has just announced some new tour dates to go along with an already-packed itinerary that has the Kentucky songwriter in New Zealand at the moment, and will take him through the deep South in May, and to many main stage performances at festivals this summer. New dates are highlighted in bold, with the run of shows in May releasing tickets on Friday, 2/22 at 10am local time.

Yeah, I’ve got tickets for that one. I had gotten tickets for the Childers show at Monarch, but I ended up having to sell them (made a decent profit on them). I think I’ll enjoy the riverfront show more than I would the sold-out Monarch show anyway.

He’s in my state at the same place I just saw Cody a Jinks on my birthday. I better hop on that one quick.

It’s the right move though. Take those handsome guarantees and get in front of some new fans for a monster release next album.

FYI for anyone in the Carolinas/Georgia: the Charlotte date (Sat., April 27) is a free show. It’s Tuck Fest. Tyler is the headliner for that night.
I’ll finally get to see him and only have to pay for parking! I’ve missed him every time he’s come through Charlotte the past couple years because I stupidly forgot to buy tickets and of course they sold out each time.

Playing Ravinia here. A suburban north shore snooty outdoor venue in a rich neighborhood (Highland Park) for upper class snobs. Mostly old dinosaur Classic or Oldie Pop Rock catalog bands play there to rich people drinking wine on blankets not paying attention to the music…lol. They rarely if ever have any Country at all. Tickets will not be cheap! I can’t complain (although I am…lol) he’s played the city here a few times. I’ll take Whitey at the bar up the street from me this Friday any day over the wine/blanket scenario but we’ll see………..

Yeah, I was surprised to see the Ravinia show. That will have the blue bloods worked up.

It’s all about trying to find the appropriate-sized venue at this point. Venues are getting upgraded left and right.

Yeah I didn’t know he was opening for John so it will be quite the crowd mix. Makes a little more sense now. I’m pretty sure Johns played there before over the years,

Ravinia is where music goes to die. If your choice is between that and staying home, stay home. There’s another choice – see him in Peoria on the riverfront at tailgates & tallboys festival in July. Much better and you don’t need to bring your own wine and cheese.

Ravinia will expose him to an audience with plenty of disposable income. For a guy with bills to pay, how is that *bad.*

It’s bad for the die-hard fan there for the music. We have a venue like that in Atlanta, Chastain. Neil Young was complaining about the inattentive crowd years after one of his shows there a few years back. We only go if Lyle Lovett is playing there and even that is tough. Too bad because it’s a beautiful setting.
For an artist on an upward trajectory, it’s great.

My husband & I got the chance to see him at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, C.A. last year in November.
What an awesome & up close performance.
I wish him all the best & for him to stay humble.
We wish he would visit Cali 💞🍻 again soon.

If I was a betting man I would say he would be at the new Railbird Festival August 10th or 11th in Lexington Lexington since Forecastle people are putting that on and catering to rock and Americana

I just saw Tyler 2 nights ago in Melbourne Australia, on one of his sideshows from John Prine. I’ve been listening to him for a while and watching all the stuff on him on YouTube. He absolutely blew me away. It was just him and a guitar and he played for close to 2 hours and held the crowd captivated like I’ve never seen. He played a couple of covers too, some Hank senior and also a song by the rock band Cake, although you wouldn’t know it was a Cake song because he made it his own. He has a fire in his eyes and charm so few have.
He also said he would come back later in the year and bring his full band. I cannot wait. Good on you Tyler!
