If you’re like me, you love the smorgasbord of nightly quarantine options as your favorite independent artists take to social media to stream performances from their living rooms and such, and it’s a good way to continue to support these independent performers through this unprecedented time when they can’t tour. But man, if I hear another acoustic cover of a Van Morrison song, my head might explode. There’s just no replacing being in the field feeling the brunt of a full band blasting you in the face.

Luckily, Pickathon is coming to the rescue by letting loose of some of its legendary archive of concert footage from the festival in full set streams. For years now, the Pickathon Festival outside of Portland, OR has been on the cutting edge of recording, broadcasting, and archiving video footage in festival form, with multiple HD cameras manned by an army of volunteers and professionals capturing every moment, as well as audio quality that puts you right there in the audience.

For the next 60 days, the festival has pledged to let loose of some of its most buzzed-about performances via live stream to help us all through the Coronavirus pause. Called “Pickathon Presents: A Concert A Day,” it started on Wednesday (4/7) with The Drive By Truckers from 2017. Ex Hex will broadcast Thursday (4/8), and the set from Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps from 2019 will be airing Friday (4/10) at 3 p.m. Central, 1 p.m. Pacific.

The set was captured on Pickathon’s legendary Woods Stage in the tall Douglas Fir forest that surrounds the festival grounds the weekend Tyler Childers released his latest album Country Squire. Yours truly was standing stage side for the set, and can attest to its quality. Admission is free, but the concert streams are a fundraising drive for the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund and viewers are strongly encouraged to donate.

Other artists that have been announced as part of “A Concert A Day” include Margo Price, Jeff Tweedy, Mac DeMarco, Charles Bradley (RIP), Tank and the Bangas, Thee Oh Sees, People Under the Stairs, Damien Jurado, The Lone Bellow, Foxygen, Andrew Bird, Brownout, Divine Fits, Dakhabrakha, Vieux Farka Toure, Willie Watson, and others.

Amazon Music will stream the concert through its channel on Twitch, and the concerts will also premiere on Pickathon’s YouTube channel.

Pickathon has also been slowly revealing their lineup for the 2020 season still set to take place at the Pendarvis Farm on July 30th to August 2nd. The late John Prine had previously been announced as one of the headliners.
