Vince Gill, Amy Grant & Family to Appear on Grand Ole Opry

For the third week in a row, the Grand Ole Opry will endure through the unprecedented shutdown in American life to offer entertainment to the masses by holding true to it’s tradition of broadcasting on Saturday night (3-28). And for the third week in a row, there will be no audience and no backing band, and the support staff on site will only be a skeleton crew. But the history books will show that even during this most unprecedented episode in American life, the Grand Ole Opry soldiered on with its Saturday night tradition for the 4,917th consecutive time over its 94-year-old history.

Despite strict stay-at-home orders in place in Nashville shuttering all businesses but those deemed essential, Mayor John Cooper has granted the Grand Ole Opry special permission to bring the show live to the world under strict safety protocols. Last week it was Marty Stuart, Brad Paisley, and Vince Gill who provided acoustic entertainment via radio, television, and an online feed. This week Vince Gill returns with wife Amy Grant, along with children Jenny Gill and Corrina Grant Gill as the Opry’s Saturday night entertainment.

“As our city takes necessary public health measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, the Opry’s Saturday broadcast will be an important reminder to Nashvillians and millions of people around the world that the music will always continue playing in Music City,” says Nashville Mayor John Cooper. “With families sheltered at home across our city we are grateful to have some of our city’s greatest ambassadors—Vince Gill, Amy Grant and members of their family stepping on to the stage Saturday night to lift their spirits,”

The Grand Ole Opry has postponed all Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday night performances for the time being. However, the Opry has vowed to keep the Saturday night tradition going as long as they can. Saturday is the original night the Opry broadcast emanated from WSM in Nashville, and was simulcast all across the country across scores of radio affiliates.

Fans can watch live via the embedded player below, on the new Circle Network via local affiliates of the expanding channel (check availability), or on the Circle Network’s Facebook Page, or on The Circle Network’s YouTube page, or listen via WSM. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Central.
