Whiskey Myers to Curate New Firewater Festival
Texas-based Southern rock band Whiskey Myers are launching their own personally-curated event to be an annual gathering for their fans called the Firewater Festival. It is set to take place October 1st through 3rd, 2020 in Ly Cynge, Kansas about 45 minutes south of Kansas City at the Wildwood Outdoor Education Center—the same location as the last two years of the Tumbleweed Festival, with Borda Productions behind the effort. Though we don’t have a lineup just yet, the festival is expected to represent a wide swath of independent country, roots, and Southern rock.
“Firewater gives us the chance to bring all of our friends and fans together in one place to just hang out and enjoy some really great music,” says Whiskey Myers frontman Cody Cannon. “It’s going to be one hell of a weekend!”
Along with camping options, outdoor activities on the 150-acre property including canoeing and rock climbing, and obviously lots of music performances by entertainers hand picked by Whiskey Myers, the festival will include “special moments” with artists as well as “secret sets” and artist interaction, including experiential elements that will be announced soon.
“We’ve been involved in every aspect of putting this together,” says lead guitarist John Jeffers. “From the location and the activities to the badass artists that will be joining us, we wanted to make sure this festival is 100% Whiskey Myers.“
Whiskey Myers announced their presence as a premier band in independent music when their 2019 self-titled album debuted #1 in country, #2 in pure album sales overall, and #6 on the all-genre Billboard 200, putting Whiskey Myers in the very rare company of Blackberry Smoke, Aaron Watson, and Jason Isbell as independent artists topping the country albums charts. They’ve also been performing surprisingly well on rock radio, with their song “Gasoline” going #20 on the Billboard mainstream rock chart.
More info and the lineup for the festival is coming soon. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 6th at www.firewatermusicfestival.com .

I hope it’s a huge success. I have a hunch that virus fears are going to be tough on festivals this year, but maybe that will have settled down by October. The weather should be less of a crap shoot then, too.
Am itching to see the lineup!

I had a similar thought as Creek. Festivals may suffer this year due to Corona concerns. I know one of the working theories is that lots of sunlight will help kill it off, the reason why we don’t see as much flu during summer. So maybe by October we’re good. Festivals in May however may see a drop in attendance I think.
Seems like artist curated festivals are becoming the next thing. Cody Jinks has his as do a growing amount of other bands. I keep saying we are reaching a saturation point with festivals all competing for the top shelf acts out there. Then as Trig is always pointing out, you have the Live Nation corporation running interference, to try and monopolize. I also wonder if interest in huge festivals is gonna be sustainable long term. You don’t see as many millenials at these things anymore. It’s more often the middle to older agers that support them.

There is no old format. There is no new format. The only thing that changed were some back end updates that made the “like” buttons on comments not render properly. We kept them up while working on the problem so people could still use them since they’re still collecting that data, just not displaying it properly. But since everyone is freaking out about it, we just took them down entirely. We’ll put them back up once the problem is solved. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you.
Not freaking out.
And sincerely, so many of us out here appreciate what you do.
Do not facebook, twitter, social media, etc.
Came across your site, sometime in the last several months.
For some reason, enjoy the heck out of it.
Hope not too much of a pain in the a**

Why there though? Seems like a strange place for the band from TX and not all that accessible

The last two years they held it when my work schedule was jammed up, but I went in 2017, and it was pretty well attended. The lineup made the ride across MO worthwhile.
